Maison Les Galettes

On our 2.5 hectares of land we have a playground with a trampoline, seesaw, climbing frame, swing and slide. But there is also more than enough space to play football, hide-and-seek, badminton, table tennis or a cosy game of pétanque.
In the garden at the front we have a swimming pool with sun terrace, where you can relax. The pool of 8 x 4 metres and approximately 1.60 metres deep is securely fenced and accessible via a gate with child-resistant handle. The water is treated with salt, which makes bathing healthier and more pleasant.
Sunbeds and parasols are available on the sun terrace, which is surrounded by green borders.

Our region has many activities and tourist sights that are worth seeing! Here are just a few of them.

George Sand
The 19th century French writer George Sand grew up in the Berry. She wrote novel after novel in the beautiful and romantic house with adjacent park in the picturesque village of Nohant-Vic, half an hour's drive away. The house can be visited all year round.

Gardens
Do you like beautiful gardens? Then you really must visit Prieuré Notre Dame d'Orsan in Maisonnais, which pays homage to the art of gardening, inspired by the Middle Ages, through vegetable gardens, orchards, a herb garden, a maze of fruit trees and a rose garden.
Also worth visiting is the beautiful garden of the Parc Floral in the medieval village of Apremont-sur-Allier. This park is divided into sections with different colours, flowers, plants and structures.

Cathedrals
Our region has several cathedrals, such as the Gothic cathedral of Bourges and the impressive basilica of Châteauneuf-sur-Cher.
There is also a special church in Le Menoux. Here, visitors are surprised by the overwhelming frescos of the Bolivian artist Jorge Carrasco. He depicts his cosmic image of God in a creative palette of colours and shapes that will cheer you up even on a rainy day.

Castles
France has countless castles. The most famous and beautiful castles are located in the Loire region. One of them is the imposing Valencay Castle with its perfectly symmetrical gardens, which is about an hour's drive away. After you have visited the castle, you can explore the castle park with, among others, the large labyrinth of Napoleon, the scent garden and a petting zoo.
Do you prefer to take in history at a nearby castle? Then visit Bouges, Meillant, Azay-le-Ferron, Ainay-le Vieil, Sarzay or Culan.

Sporty
Looking for something sporty? The lake of Sidiailles is a 30-minute drive from Maison Les Galettes. A beautifully situated large recreational lake with a lovely beach and spacious sunbathing area. There is a playground for the children and they rent out pedal boats, canoes and paddle surfboards. There is also a beautiful climbing track with different routes. Hiking and mountain biking are also possible. A floating 'parc aquatique' with inflatable slides, climbing ropes and trampolines complete this lovely spot.

But there are more waters in our vicinity, such as Lac de Virlay and Canal de Berry, where you can cool down on a hot summer day with a pedal boat, (rowing) boat or electric boat. Besides cooling down, it is also a wonderful and relaxing way to discover the landscape and the flora and fauna of our region.

Do you like to play a round of golf? Feel free to bring your golf clubs to Maison Les Galettes. At max. 50 minutes drive away are beautiful golf courses, such as Golf Les Sarrays, Golf Les Dryades, Ugolf Bourges Val-de-Loire and Golf du Val de Cher.

Towns and villages
The nearby town of Bourges, capital of the Cher region, has a gothic cathedral and a charming old town. Bourges is also known for its regional function as a shopping city.
Good to know is that we have (historical) walking routes and/or maps available of several villages and cities, like Bourges, La Châtre, Culan, Montluçon, Issoudun and Saint-Sévère-Sur-Indre, that will show you all the beautiful spots and sights.

Brocante
As soon as the temperatures start to rise again and the spring sun comes out, the rugs are spread out and the tables placed in the village squares and the brocante season is open again! What could be more fun than rummaging through other people's old stuff on a beautiful day, looking for just that one little gem?
