The house
The house was completely renovated from the end of 2021 to June 2022. The original building of this nature house dates back to 1867. After the renovation, two semi-detached attractive and cosy gîtes were realised, one of which is available for rental. During renovation, the original old walls, which are almost one metre thick, were preserved. Together with the beamed ceilings in the living area, this gives an authentic atmosphere, where it is nice to stay. This nature house has a conservatory, open kitchen with spacious living area and wood stove, central heating, two bedrooms on the first floor with both a double bed. The cottage has a spacious terrace near the conservatory and near the bedrooms on the first floor. The house is equipped for four people; an extra baby bed can be placed on request.
In the garden of more than 4300 m² there are several places with garden furniture where you can have breakfast, read or paint. You are really in the middle of nature. The unique location of the natural house, in the middle of a volcanic nature reserve, with a panoramic view over the valley, ensures privacy and a lot of rest.

Restaurants, food & wine
Via a beautiful mountain road you will reach Salers, an authentic medieval village. The house is located on la Route des Fromages A.O.P. d'Auvergne, which allows you to visit one of the many cheese farmers and get a glimpse of the kitchen. Wine from the region is also available from the farmer.
The Auvergne is known for its delicious regional dishes, which are of course everywhere on the menu.
Activities
There is much to do in the area. From fishing in the trout lake to parasailing above the volcanic valleys. Sports enthusiasts can really indulge themselves in the Auvergne. The area is perfect for cycling, mountain biking, hiking and horse riding. On several occasions, this volcanic area has been the scene of the Tour de France. Within an hour's drive there are 4 different golf courses that are of good quality and have nice height differences, which provides the necessary challenge. In winter you can gelanglauf in the forest at about 2 km from the house. Within an hour's drive of the house are a number of medieval villages that are worth a visit.

What you also need to know...
Besides Gite Puy Mary, we also rent a cosy farmhouse, suitable for 6 persons. This house is situated 100 metres from the gite and is ideal if you want to come with a larger group. It is possible to rent both houses together. For more information see our website.
Additional price info and offers
*Tourist tax costs €1 per adult per night. Check in is possible from 15:00 and check out is no later than 10:00. Other options can be considered in consultation.
Electricity: 25 kWh per day is included in the price. Normal usage does not result in additional costs. Additional consumption is charged at check out and costs €0.25 per kWh.
