Châtel is a cozy mountain village with over 50 years of skiing history, and lies about 600 km from Paris just below Lake Geneva.
The ski slopes (1200-2500 meters) offer an extensive range of easier and less easy slopes. More advanced skiers have the opportunity to ski from Linga and Pre-la-Joux directly to Avoriaz, Morzine, Les Gets etc. and you even have the option to go down "La Mur" (one of the toughest prepared slopes in world).
Via Super-Châtel you go in the direction of Morgins and further towards the Swiss part of the ski area. The chalet has a unique locaton considering the ski slopes. From the balcony you can see the skiers at about 250 meters away going down the Linga piste. There is a bus that takes you to the ski lifts of both Super-Chatel and Pré-la-Joux. In 2009-2010 a new 6-seater lift was opened

The village of Chatel is working hard at its tourism industry. Almost every year new activities are being organised in the village. There is now a four-seasons bobsleigh track, a 'fantasticable' ( with a speed of 100 km per hour you zoom viaa cable into the valley ), devalcart ( descents on four-wheelers), routes for mountain biking, downhill biking trails, racing bike tours , a parachute school, an equestrian centre, boules courts, tennis courts and archery.

The village offers activities such as concerts, children's activities (clowns, gymnastics on the church square), weekly market, trips to farms, sights and culinary excursions etc.

Châtel is also a great base for golf, cities in the region, Lake Geneva, rafting and so on. The tourist office in Chatel, www.chatel.com has a lot of information available.

Further remarks

The village of Chatel lies at an altitude of about 1200 meters. The area has many hiking and mountain bike trails. It's wonderful to climb the Mont de Grange and see Lake Geneva down below. But also shorter trips are fun.
Chatel is turning in to a 'village de fleur'. There are lots of cultivated flowers in the village, but what we particularly like is wild plants and flowers we see during hiking trips.
Outside the winter period and school holidays, prices are slightly lower, again depending on the number of persons, please contact us for more information.
