The house
Maison Le Chevalier is detached (an unused old barn was built), offers a lot of privacy and is very spacious (100 square metres). It has 2 large bedrooms and was completely renovated in 2012.
It can accommodate 4 adults. A cot, a high chair, a baby bath and a baby rest are also available free of charge.
In front of the house there is a large garden with a beautiful view (see photos), a cosy terrace, 4 deck chairs with cushions and a barbecue.
Through the garden you enter the modern white high gloss kitchen where the dining table is. The kitchen is fully equipped with a built-in fridge-freezer, a built-in combi oven (hot air/grill/microwave), a gas cooker with four basins, a hood and a built-in dishwasher.
All necessary appliances are available: Senseo coffee machine, toaster, mixer, juicer, tosti-croque monsieur machine...
The kitchen is also very well equipped with all kinds of cooking utensils, such as crockery, cutlery, glasses, pots and pans, wooden block with cutting knives... Enough to start cooking yourself. And if you need some inspiration, the Dutch cookbooks will certainly help you.
Through a passage you enter the large living room. Here the original Cantou fireplace, now equipped with a wood stove, immediately catches the eye. The central heating system on electricity is easily operated by means of the thermostat. A 2.5-seater sofa and 2 comfortable armchairs with coffee tables await you after a walk or other activity to relax with music from the hi-fi system with radio and CD player.
Or perhaps you prefer a programme on the flat screen TV equipped with TV Vlaanderen: 400 channels including the most important Dutch and Flemish channels. So you do not have to miss your favourite programme!
In the sideboard on which the TV is placed, you will find all the necessary information for excursions, places of interest etc. and a DVD player. There are also fun board games for young and old.
Through a door you enter the closed hall with toilet with hand basin, wardrobe, shoe cabinet and room with washing machine, drying rack, ironing board, iron and hoover.
With the stairs you reach the landing on the first floor where you will find a bedroom with double bed (box spring), wardrobe, chest of drawers, standing coat rack and large mirror. The second bedroom has 2 single beds (box spring), a chest of drawers, wardrobe and a cot. Both bedrooms have a view of the garden.
The luxurious bathroom has a second toilet, a double washbasin and a large walk-in shower. There is also a baby bath available.
On this floor you will also find a storage room (handy to get rid of your luggage) with a second hoover.

Maison Le Chevalier, which was completely renovated in 2012, is located in La Chevalerie (800 metres altitude), a hamlet of the municipality of Arconsat (1 km), the "Capitale Mondiale de la Saucisse de Choux". Be sure to visit one of the local butchers to taste this sausage. Maison Le Chevalier is situated halfway between Clermont-Ferrand and Lyon, in the Parc Naturel Régional du Livradois-Forez, in the middle of Les Bois Noirs, in the department Puy-de-Dôme, which is definitely worth a visit.
The house is completely free at the edge of the hamlet. From the garden you only see the valley, the woods, the hills...
Quiet is still real here!
From the house the most beautiful walks start. Don't forget to fill your bottles at the source at the top of the path, from where delicious fresh mountain water flows all year round.
You can park at the bottom of the house or at the top of the path with the spring.
The authentic village of Chabreloche is 3 km away and has all amenities: 2 bakers, 2 butchers, 2 superettes, restaurants, newsagent, pharmacist, cash machine, etc. There is also a small lake, ideal for the children. If you prefer something bigger, you will certainly find something to your liking in Saint-Rémy-sur-Durolle (at 10 km). There you will find a wonderful recreational lake with several beaches, a boulevard with restaurants and bars, a heated open-air swimming pool... You can also go canoeing, use a pedal boat, play mini golf or beach volleyball... In short, plenty of choice.
For larger purchases you can go to the Carrefour in La Monnerie-le-Montel (7 km) or the Intermarché in Noiretable (12 km).
For all other things you can go to Thiers, the famous mess town, which you reach via a beautiful mountain road in fifteen minutes. And of course the capital Clermont-Ferrand (45 minutes) and Vichy, called Little Paris (one hour) are definitely worth a visit.

Mooi, proper en aangenaam huisje, voorzien van al het nodige: oa mooi keukentje met proper materiaal, degelijke bedden met een goede matras!
Het is er zeer rustig. De buurvrouw is vriendelijk en bereidwillig. 's Morgens en 's avonds zie je vaak hertjes op het uitgestrekte grasveld achter de tuin.
Daar het huisje en de tuin niet zoveel zon hebben, is het soms wat frisjes en doe je best de houtkachel branden. Het internet en wifi zijn niet altijd stabiel.

Huisje met alles erop en eraan in een mooie, heerlijk rustige omgeving. De huurder en buurvrouw helpen je direct mocht er iets mis zijn. Wij hadden de pech dat het behoorlijk slecht weer was in onze huur periode. Dan is samen bij de houtkachel zitten de enige optie, er ligt voldoende hout. Er is helaas geen terrasje of winkeltje op loop afstand en het dichts bijzijnde dorpje is ook niet het toonbeeld van gezelligheid . Wij hadden ook moeite met het vinden van het huisje, terwijl coördinaten erbij vermelden toch heel eenvoudig is. Maar alles bij elkaar hadden we toch een heerlijke week.

Maison Le Chevalier is een heerlijk vakantiehuis waarin een ideale balans is gevonden tussen rustiek en authentiek 'Frans' en modern comfort. De woning ligt prachtig: privé maar niet afgelegen. De buren, tevens contactpersonen, zijn zeer hartelijk. Kijk niet verbaasd op al ze regelmatig verse groente uit hun moestuin komen brengen. Maar je privacy wordt volledig gerespecteerd. De omgeving is een lustoord voor natuurliefhebbers. Je kunt vanuit het huis prachtige wandelingen maken in het bos en op het platteland. Ook vanuit Chabreloche, Chausseterre en vanaf de Col Saint Thomas maak je superieure randonnées. De nabijgelegen meertjes (plan d'eau) zijn te gek voor de kleine en grote kinderen. Wie met twee grote eters een viergangendiner met drankjes en koffie wil nuttigen in Auvergne-sfeer kan zijn hart ophalen in de sfeervolle auberge in Chausseterre. Eigenaar/kok Alain verwent je met streekgerechten en maakt je na een culinaire topavond alles bij elkaar nog geen 40 euro lichter... En hij laat je gratis verrukkelijke mintlikeur proeven. Verder raden wij een bezoek aan de steden Thiers en Clermont Ferrand van harte aan. Leuk en interessant in Clermont is het Michelinmuseum en een ritje in de tram die - jawel - op rubber banden van het bekende merk rijdt....

Activities
Both Arconsat and Chabreloche have tennis courts. For the latter, you should ask for information in the newspaper shop of Chabreloche.
As mentioned before, you can swim and sunbathe at the lake of Chabreloche or make a trip to the recreational lake in Saint-Rémy-sur-Durolle.
Cycling, mountain biking, hiking, beautiful motorbike rides or horseback rides: it's all possible in the pure air of the Auvergne.
Or visit the amusement park Vulcania, where the working of volcanoes is explained in a spectacular way.

Further remarks
Local contact persons (the neighbours) are present to carry out the key handover. If you have any questions, you can always contact them (everyone in the village is very helpful by the way).
The house also has wireless internet.
Additional price info and offers
Included in the price: kitchen towels, gas, wood for the stove, water, wireless internet, TV Vlaanderen, cot, baby bath, baby relax and high chair. Not included are: the compulsory final cleaning (€50) and electricity consumption. Upon your arrival, the house is nicely heated. Then the meter reading is taken, together with the local contact person. On your departure, the same happens. Consumption is charged at € 0.25 per kWh. This amount will be deducted from the deposit.
Bath and bed linen must be brought with you. Washing machine and dryer are available.
The deposit amounts to € 300 and will be refunded to your account within 10 days, after the house has been inspected by the contact person and if everything is in order, and after settlement of the electricity consumption.
