The house
Our house 'Les Mouretons' (municipality of Le Quartier), a former 'longère' farmhouse, is a spacious, comfortable, cosy, non-smoking house for the real peace seeker. It is ideal for a salutary break from the fast pace, pressure and information load of today. In Les Mouretons you really get away from it all. You will find silence, peace, space and nature. Around the house there is an open view, there are no direct neighbours. The terrain is over one hectare with a jeu de boules court and a piece of woodland behind the house. The land of our neighbour, who lets his Charolais cows graze, borders our terrain.
Ground floor, spacious cosy living room with television, wifi, wood stove and fully equipped kitchen. From the living room and kitchen you have access to a large covered veranda, equipped with furniture, where you can enjoy the sunrise early in the morning. Until late in the evening it is a lovely place to sit.
Upstairs are two spacious bedrooms, one double and one with two single beds. There is plenty of wardrobe space. There are also two bathrooms, a separate toilet and a loft.

Restaurants, food & wine
In the immediate vicinity are several restaurants where you can enjoy good local dishes at a very reasonable price. Wine from the Auvergne region is the Saint Pourçain. In Saint Pourçain, you can visit the museum of the wine cooperative and taste and buy the various wines.
Activities
There are many possibilities for walking, cycling, canoeing or enjoying a beautiful tour. There is a mountain bike and canoe centre at the River Sioule (distance 15 km.). You will find beautiful walks in the area. Near the village of Saint-Priest-des-Champs (20 km.) you can hike to the waterfall Cascade de Saint-Priest. From the village of Saint-Priest-des-Champs you also have a good view of the Viaduc des Fades, with 470 m length and 133 m height the highest iron railway bridge in Europe. The bridge spans the reservoir of Besserves. Vichy( 75 km.) historical town with many natural thermal sources is definitely worth a visit. In St. Eloy les Mines, (5 km.) you will find all the necessary shops for your daily needs. Montluçon (30 km. away) is the nearest city.
Clermont-Ferrand (55 km), the capital of the Auvergne is a pleasant, lively city with a direct flight connection to Paris and Schiphol Airport. Clermont-Ferrand is the economic centre of Auvergne and the capital of the department Puy-de-Dôme. The city is also the seat of a bishop and a university city. Some of the 150,000 inhabitants are students.
The old volcano 'Puy de Dôme', part of an old volcanic area, 1465 metres high, is located in the immediate vicinity of Clermont-Ferrand.
Three kilometres east of Le Mont-Dore is the departure point of the cable car to the mountain station of the Puy de Sancy (1886 m). There are two cable cars. From the mountain station, on a clear day, you have a magnificent view of the surrounding volcanoes, the Cantal mountain range and the foothills of the Alps.
