Apart from the many walking possibilities (a detailed walking map is in the house), it is also possible to go out by (sporty) bike. The surroundings are hilly, but in general cycling is very well doable. The kilometres of cycling paths along the nearby "Canal de Bourgogne", are also very worthwhile and offer the possibility to cycle reasonably "flat". Also for mountainbikers there are special routes in the area.
There are also swimming possibilities in the neighbourhood; the reservoir at Grosbois, the "Lac de Pont" at Semur-en- Auxois, the swimming pool in Vitteaux, the swimming pool in Venarey-Les-Laumes or the swimming pool in "Parc de l´Auxois", near Arnay-sous-Vitteaux.

Furthermore, there is a riding school nearby, where horses can be hired. There are also golf courses in the vicinity as in Venarey-Les-Laumes, but also in Précy-sous-Thil (9 holes) and the beautiful golf course "Chateau de Chailly" (9 and 18 holes) near Pouilly-en-Auxois.
For the enthusiasts, rock climbing is also possible in the neighbourhood (at Hauteroche and Saffres).

There are also nice markets (vide-greniers) to visit in the neighbourhood during the whole season.

Just a few of the many places in the vicinity that are well worth a visit:

Flavigny-sur-Ozerain, the picturesque walled town that lies nearby. It is called one of the most beautiful villages of France and was also the setting for the film "Chocolat". Monks have been producing aniseed balls here for centuries.
Also very close by is Alise Saint Reine (Alésia). Here you can visit the excavations (and from early 2012 also the wonderful museum "MuséoParc Alésia") of the Gallo-Roman settlement. Julius Caesar defeated the Gallic army led by Vercingetorix here in 52 BC. Despite the loss, the latter remained a hero and there is an impressive large statue in the vicinity.
Semur-en-Auxois is a beautiful medieval fortified city (city walk) with a cosy centre and nice shops.
Dijon, the capital of the Dukes of Burgundy with its stately mansions, interesting museums, beautiful gardens, parks and of course.... mustard!
Beaune, the city of Burgundy wine with the Hôtel-Dieu, the hospital founded in the Middle Ages, many museums and countless wine cellars.
Montbard, where the natural historian Buffon left his mark, but also the abbey of Fontenay. In a quiet forest, one of the most beautiful and incredibly well-preserved Cistercian monasteries is located here and has been placed on UNESCO's world heritage list. In the 12th century, this was an austere, self-sufficient economy with perhaps the world's first mechanical forge.

Châteauneuf-en-Auxois, a beautiful high-lying village with atmospheric old houses grouped around an imposing medieval castle.
The Morvan, a protected area managed as a "regional nature park".
At Arnay-sous-Vitteaux (500 m.) you will find the Parc de l´Auxois; a zoo, amusement park and swimming pool in one.
Vezelay, a picturesque town especially known as a place of pilgrimage (on the route to Santiago de Compostela) with the abbey church Basilique Ste. Madeleine (UNESCO world heritage list).
