The house
Grand Vouas is the original living area of a farmhouse dating from around 1830. On one side of the building sits Petit Vouas and on the other sits Grand Vouas separated by a barn in the middle. The interior is almost in its original state with the large granite stone fireplace and built-in bread oven, the floor of French tommettes characteristic of the Morvan and the beautiful oak beamed ceiling. Otherwise, the house has been modernised and equipped with contemporary comforts.
On the ground floor is the living room with luxury open-plan kitchen with 6-burner gas hob with 90 cm oven, dishwasher and fridge (total ca. 7 x 7 m), and a utility room with separate toilet and a bathroom with shower. The living room has an open staircase to the first floor.
In the living room you will find the sitting area by the wood-burning stove (we charge €7.50 per basket of wood), the well-stocked bookcase and the dining area. There is a DVD player, TV with Dutch channels and a wireless internet connection (WIFI). In the kitchen you will find a dishwasher, 6-burner gas hob with oven/grill, extensive set of pans, crockery, cutlery, filter coffee maker, Senseo, toaster and a hand blender.
Upstairs are three bedrooms, two with a double bed and one with two single beds. There is also a second shower and toilet upstairs. Also present: cot, highchair and electric radiators.
There is a table football and table tennis table in the barn. There is a separate laundry kitchen with washing machine, tumble dryer, freezer and extra fridge. These facilities are also available for Petit Vouas.
This property can also be rented in combination with Petit Vouas (sleeps 4) for a group of 10.
The nearest town is Chateau Chinon (9 km), where amenities include supermarkets, petrol station, post office, cafes, restaurants, etc. 4 km away is the village of Chaumard with a restaurant and a small supermarket selling daily groceries. At the nearby campsite you can get daily bread, if ordered in advance. A baker comes by twice a week.
There is no Dutch-speaking local contact. In an emergency, you can call on the Flemish neighbour.

The holiday home is located 100 m from the Lac Pannecière lake, accessible via its own grounds, in Les Vouas, municipality of Corancy, in the middle of the Morvan, a nature park in Burgundy. Since 1970 the area is protected as Parc naturel régional. The Morvan is covered with extensive mixed forests of mainly deciduous trees, with pasture areas in between. In the Morvan, there are many reservoirs like Lac de Pannecière, Lac de Saint-Agnan and Lac des Settons. There are some larger rivers like the Yonne, the Chalaux and the Cure as well as many small streams. Because there is no industry, there is no air pollution. Because there are few big cities nearby, in the evening, when the sky is cloudless, you have a breathtaking view of the Milky Way and galaxies. For anyone who loves nature and also for those who like active holidays, this is a wonderful area to unwind, together with family or friends.

Eind aug 2022 hebben we 2 weken doorgebracht in de Grand Les Vouas. Het is een compleet huis met een nieuwe keuken en fraai 6 pits fornuis. Verder is er ruime keuze in pannen (!) serviesgoed, bestek en andere accessoires. In de enorme (ietwat aflopende) tuin (vrijwel) rondom huis zijn diverse “zitjes”/terrassen. De eigenaren informeren je heel goed en ook tijdig. Wij zijn enigszins verwend qua ruimte en vonden daarom de huizen in het gehucht wat dicht op elkaar staan, iets wat Google maps ons niet liet zien

Restaurants, food & wine
There is no place like Burgundy. Besides the famous 3-star restaurant, Bernard Loiseau in the beautiful town of Saulieu, where you can have an excellent lunch for €70, there are also simple and good restaurants closer to home, such as in Chaumard, Chateau Chinon, Moulin Engilbert or Ouroux where you can join the "table d'hôtes" at Chez Flo or in Mhère "Chez Léonie" (Dutch).
A holiday in Burgundy is complete when you get to know the excellent wines that are produced here. A good opportunity to become acquainted with Burgundy wines is at the Marché aux Vins in Beaune. Between €9 and €27/person, you can taste Burgundy wines in the cellars. Open daily from 9.30 to 11.30 and from 14.00 to 17.30.
Activities
The holiday home is ideal to unwind from the daily grind. You can do this in and around the house. Less than 100 m away is the largest reservoir in the Morvan (8km long and over 500 ha surface) Lac Pannecière, which is accessible via its own garden to its own shore. The lake serves as a reservoir to control the water level of the Seine. This means that the level is not constant and in autumn, especially during dry summers, the lake can be empty.
At home, in the barn, you can use a table tennis table, a table football game, a shuffleboard and a dartboard.
Outside the house, there are many activities:
Besides sporting activities such as hiking, cycling, mountain biking, fishing, horse riding, rafting and canoeing, there are also many opportunities for other entertainment: brocantes, shopping in the larger towns, local festivities, theatre, music performances, art workshops and meditation and inspiration workshops, good food in the many small restaurants or table d'hôtes in the region. In Saint Honoré les Bains, a spa town, you can enjoy the healing hot water baths, there is a casino, swimming pool, cinema, tennis courts etc.
Nice towns in the neighbourhood are St. Honoré les Bains, Moulins Engilbert, Corbigny, Saulieu.
Larger cities that are very worthwhile are Nevers at 60 km, Autun 40 km, Beaune 95 km, Vézelay and Avallon 60 km.
Especially in the summer, there are numerous flea markets in the various villages and towns that in themselves provide a day's entertainment. The agenda of the flea markets can be found on Internet .
For the real sports lovers we recommend rafting on the Chalaux or a mountain bike route through the French route planner "Openrunner" explained on our site.

Further remarks
The holiday home is registered by the French Ministry of Tourism as a "Meublé de Toeruisme" and qualified with 3 stars. If desired, the tenant can have access to the evaluation criteria and the formal document.
The holiday home is also registered with the municipality as a holiday accommodation.
Based on both registrations the accommodation meets legal requirements.
The Morvan is also a culturally interesting area. For example, it was the last refuge of the Gauls before they were defeated by the Romans in 52 B.C. in Alesia, on the north-east side of the Morvan. On Mont Beuvray, you can visit a museum about this and have a look at excavations of former settlements. Here, you also have a breathtaking view up to the Alps, more than 200 km away.
But also the architecture in the cities is worth seeing, as well as many museums.

The price indicated is the all-in rent. Bed linen, towels and kitchen linen are included in the rental price. There are additional costs for final cleaning €100, tourist tax (€0.91 per person per night), electricity ( €0.20/kWh) and for the use of wood (€7.50 per basket). Pets are allowed (maximum 2), costs for 1 pet are €50, costs for 2 pets are €75, These costs should be paid with the deposit.
