THE IMMEDIATE SURROUNDINGS:
Our house 'manoir Bnburgundy' is located on the southern hills of the protected nature reserve The Morvan in Southern Burgundy and has really beautiful views of the typical landscape of Southern Burgundy: lovely hills with hedges and Charolais cows (are also at the bottom of the garden). In a tiny village next to the church (you can also visit)

THE REGION:
The region is good for cycling and walking, you will find many beautiful old (Roman) cities and authentic villages where you can visit many brocantes. There is much to do for children. For example, there are 3 amusement parks you can visit. Thanks to the continental climate, the region is lovely and warm in the spring, autumn and summer months, as well as in March and October.
The holiday house is located on the southern edge of the beautiful nature reserve of the Morvan, where you can enjoy all its natural beauty (forests, rivers and lakes), go hiking, cycling and various (extreme) water sports such as rafting and canoeing. In winter, you can even ski on the highest mountain 'Mont Préneley', 855 metres high.

THE HAMLET OF LANTY:
The holiday home is located in the hamlet of Lanty. Lanty boasts a pretty picturesque church and a veritable holy spring.

BOOKSHOPS and MARKET:
Twice a week the baker comes through the hamlet. Here you can buy delicious fresh baguettes. In the village of Luzy (10 min drive) you will find, among others, some bakeries, 2 supermarkets, pharmacy and several shops.On Friday mornings there is Market In Luzy.

SOUTH BURGUNDY:
Southeast of Paris lies the region of Burgundy. With an area of almost 32,000 square kilometres, the region is about the size of Belgium. The Côte d'Or department covers 8765 km2, Nièvre 6815 km2, Yonne 7425 km2 and Saône-et-Loire 8575 km2. Burgundy is bordered by Champagne to the north, Savoy and Franche-Comté to the east, Beaujolais and Lyonnais to the south and the Loire Valley to the west.
Burgundy boasts a veritable mosaic of distinctive landscapes, but mainly gently rolling hills (between 150 and 600 metres) and wide river valleys. Only the Morvan is more mountainous with peaks up to 900 metres, including Mont Beuvray (821 m) and Bois du Roi (902 m).
Burgundy can be divided into four distinct areas. In the east is the wide river plain of the Saône. The north and west consist of fertile plains that make up the sedimentary basin of Lower Burgundy, around the cities of Auxerre and Chablis.
In the centre are limestone plateaus that end in steep slopes to the east, Arrière-Côte and Côte. To the south are granite masses and plateaus of the beautiful, hilly nature reserve Parc Naturel Régional du Morvan, and beyond that the Charolais and the Mâconnais.
Burgundy is a very water-rich region. Flowing northwards are the Marne, the Aube, the Ource, the Seine, the Ozerain, the Armançon, the Serein, the Cure, the Yonne and the Loire with their partly south-flowing tributaries such as the Arconce, the Bourbince, the Arroux and the Nièvre. The Saône runs to the south, with its north-flowing tributaries the Ouche, the Dheune and the Grosne. In the 19th century, the main rivers were linked by a number of canals: Canal de Bourgogne (between Yonne and Saône), Canal de Centre (between Loire and Saône), Canal du Rhône au Rhin and Canal de la Marne à la Saône.
