The house
The former presbytery from 1817 has been completely renovated into an attractive and very spacious holiday home. Ideal for a large family or a group of friends who want to walk, cycle, play bridge, canoe or ride horses in the area. The holiday home is situated in one of the most beautiful villages in Southern Burgundy and has seven bedrooms where a group of up to eleven guests can stay in a French atmosphere.
Sitting in the garden you can hear the river 'Laroche' flowing in the valley, sounds of the many birds and the occasional dog. At night you can hear owls and the midwife toad. In clear weather you can see 'real' starry skies. There is no traffic noise.
To the right of the entrance you will find the large kitchen (6 x 8 metres) with a cooking area with fridge, oven and dishwasher, a seating area and a huge dining table for 12 people. To the left of the entrance is the living room with an open fireplace and a separate television corner with an extensive DVD collection.
There are 7 bedrooms in total with space for 11 guests. The bedrooms each have a fixed washbasin. The showers and toilets are separate.
Behind the salon is a double bedroom and the buanderie with the washing machine, a shower and 2 toilets. A wide, easy oak staircase leads to the first floor where the other 6 bedrooms are located with two separate toilets and two showers.
The house is surrounded by a real 'jardin de curé' with several terraces surrounded by beech hedges, flower beds and fruit trees. A lovely place to read, laze, eat and enjoy a good glass of wine. The view is beautiful and far. Also in spring and autumn the house is a lovely place to be.

Je hoort deze uitdrukking wel eens voorbij komen en je hebt dan een vaag gevoel wat ermee bedoeld wordt.
Sinds deze vakantie is het voor ons duidelijk. In het sfeervolle huis en de mooie tuin van Jacques van Rhijn ben je God in Frankrijk.Familie Engelen from Tilburg,
Heel prettig huis, gezellig en zeer stijlvol ingericht. Veel ruimte, ook in een fijne groene tuin. Goed geoutilleerde keuken. Veel privacy en een attente gastheer.

We zijn een heerlijke tijd te gast geweest in de Oude Pastorie, fijn welkom geheten door gastheer Jacques, onder de indruk van de grootte, sfeer en voorzieningen in het prachtige oude pand met heerlijke buitenruimte.
Ik was de hoofdhuurder en heb gedurende mijn verblijf familie en mijn beste vrienden op bezoek gehad, het is een geweldig huis om samen een gezellige tijd te hebben.
Het is enigszins jammer dat de voorzieningen in het dorp steeds meer wegvallen (bijvoorbeeld geen bakker), maar het dagelijkse ritje naar Luzy was eigenlijk ook wel weer leuk. Heerlijke omgeving, een enorm rustig en prettig stukje Frankrijk. Gewandeld, bezienswaardigheden in de omgeving bezocht, en het jaarlijkse dorpsfeest met mooi vuurwerk mogen meemaken. Erg genoten!!

Restaurants, food & wine
Luzy is the nearest (10 km) village with all shops, banks, supermarkets, a weekly market, garages, doctor and dentist.
Autun is the nearest (30 km) town with beautiful remains from the Roman times, with a small interesting museum, the cathedral St. Lazaire with its world famous tympanum and its cosy terraces and very good restaurants.
At 15 km from Autun, in Nolay, the beautiful wine region of the 'Côte-d'Or' begins, with its world-famous Bourgogne wines, such as the Meursault, the Givry, the Fixin and many others.
Also, the 'voie verte' starts in Nolay, an old railway track that has been transformed into a cycling path, which leads to Dijon, among other places. A bit to the west from Larochemillay you find the 'voie verte' along the canal the Nivernais.
Tourist info. Restaurants, bike rental, cycling routes, swimming possibilities, walks, horse rides etc. available in the house.
