The house
Together with my French partner and our children, we have a lovely place where French ambiance and Brabant hospitality come together. Experience the French savoir-vivre and enjoy the space and quiet in the middle of nature, taste the culture and enjoy all the other beauty that Burgundy has to offer.
The old servants' house of the farm has been converted into a comfortable gîte in the authentic French style and is of course equipped with all conveniences.
The gîte is in principle suitable for 2 persons and, by means of a comfortable sofa bed, can be extended to a maximum of 4 persons. It is also possible to place a baby bed in the gîte.
Located on the ground floor of La Charité, the gîte has a living room and a separate kitchen. In the living room there is a dining area and a (sleeping) couch where you can sit in front of the wood stove with traditional chimney. In the fully equipped kitchen you will find a cooker, oven and a refrigerator.
The bedroom has a double bed and wardrobe. The bathroom with walk-in shower and toilet is directly adjacent to the bedroom.
In front of the cottage is a terrace where you can enjoy the beautiful view.
The gîte is equipped with bed linen, towels, kitchen linen, garden furniture and internet (wifi).
You can park your car in front of the cottage and there is enough space to park your bike or motorbike.

La Charité is located in the Morvan, the natural park of Burgundy. Within walking distance of La Charité is the village of Moux-en-Morvan. The village has a boulangerie, cheese shop, grocery shop, a typical French village pub and several cosy restaurants.
During your stay we will gladly tell you which activities are available and on request we will arrange these for you.
Parc Naturel Régional du Morvan
During your stay at La Charité you are in the middle of the Parc Naturel Régional du Morvan, also called the 'granite heart' of Burgundy. The Morvan (from the Celtic: Mar = black and Vand = mountain) is a mountainous area in Burgundy. The central mountain range is actually an offshoot of the Massif Central. Since 1970, the area is protected as Parc Naturel Régional. The Morvan is 70 by 50 kilometres and the highest mountain is the Haut-Folin with a height of 901 metres. Also Mont Beuvray, on which the old Celtic city Bibracte is excavated, belongs with its 821 metres to the high peaks. In the Morvan, there are many waterworks, including reservoirs such as Lac des Settons and Lac de Pannesière. Several rivers, such as the Yonne, have their source. Because there is no industry, there is hardly any air pollution. There is also little light pollution so that at night, when the sky is cloudless, you have a beautiful view of the Milky Way. In Saint-Brisson, you will find the Maison du Parc: a unique place with museums, a large herb garden and a tourist office (VVV).

Wines from Burgundy are famous all over the world. The wine caves in the area should be visited. In the wine region around Beaune, for example, you can follow a number of special wine routes. In the various chateaux, you can see with your own eyes how the wine is produced and you can also enjoy the best part of the production process: tasting the wine. If all that wine tasting has made you hungry, let yourself be
be pampered in one of the many good restaurants. Because the French talk about food all day long, and they know better than anyone how to prepare it.
Activities
For the more sporty
The village of Moux-en-Morvan is famous for its walking routes! There are routes that start in the village and routes that run through the village: an ideal starting point for a hefty hike. Along the west bank of the Lac des Settons there is also a part of the great long distance hiking route, the GR 13.
You can also enjoy mountain biking on the many mountain bike trails that are available. But also for the cycling enthusiasts, there is enough challenge in the hills. For the real sportsmen it is possible to go rafting or climbing in the Morvan.
Near La Charité you can make beautiful horseback rides through the woods and hills. But also fishing in one of the many streams, lakes or fish ponds belongs to the relaxing possibilities.
Just 10 minutes drive from La Charité is Lac des Settons: the best known of the many very attractive recreational lakes in the Morvan. A lovely place where you can take a refreshing dip on hot summer days. The many beaches and wooded shores make it an ideal place for people with children. You can also go pedal boating, canoeing or sailing.
Culture: from imposing castles to regional markets and flea markets
Burgundy is a region with many historical cities, villages and imposing castles that are worth visiting. These even go back to Roman times and are just a stone's throw away from La Charité.
A visit to a regional market - for cheese, honey, sausages, fruit and vegetables from the region - is of course more than worthwhile. In addition, there are the many flea markets to browse through. You can find everything here: from special books to that one nice chair.
History and ancient wealth can be found throughout the region. Be surprised by the beautiful historical city centres with narrow streets rich in stately buildings and monumental courtyards.
Cities such as Dijon, Beaune, Autun, Saulieu and Vézelay are well worth a visit. The cosy streets, pleasant terraces and museums offer a perfect change from the quiet, green hills of the countryside. Just the routes to them are a trip in itself!

Holiday at La Charité is pure and diverse relaxation: from a catchy book and refreshing drink in the garden to cozy enjoyment by a crackling fire. A few minutes' drive away is the beautiful Lac des Settons where you can, for example, swim, sail and canoe to your heart's content. In the green surroundings of Le Morvan, you will fall from one walking or cycling route into the other that the nature park is rich.
It goes without saying that Burgundy only has the very best to offer culturally and culinary-wise: picturesque villages, Roman cities and the famous wine regions are only a stone's throw away. There is also always a restaurant nearby to experience the authentic French regional cuisine.
The originally 200-year-old farmhouse stands on a spacious plot of over 1 hectare and is located on the outskirts of the village Moux-en-Morvan. The view of the surrounding nature - with its beautiful green hills - is wide and impressive. This characteristic place with a rich history has a unique, warm ambiance in all seasons.

Per night € 60,-
We require a deposit of € 100.
Compulsory final cleaning of the gîte € 35.
Bed linen, towels, kitchen linen, water, electricity, heating costs, tourist tax and wifi are included in the price.
For a baby there is a surcharge of € 25,- per week (including baby cot and high chair, linen is not included due to own preferences).
Stay in the gîte is from 4 pm on day of arrival until 10 am on day of departure.
Pets and smoking are not allowed in the gîte.

Een authentieke, sfeervolle gite in een prachtige omgeving. Kim haar fransman Harold is een man van de streek en gaf ons geweldige tips waardoor wij het gebied op een speciale (lokale) manier hebben leren kennen.

Mooi uitzicht, vanaf de ontbijttafel in de voortuin. Het is er heerlijk rustig, echt een aanrader!!
