The house
La Cabane de Chasse is a cosy detached house in the middle of the nature of the beautiful Morvan, located on a quiet road. In this house, farmers used to gather for the hunt and divide the spoils. Since then, the house has been converted into a comfortable holiday home. Around the house is a sheltered terrace and via the garden stairs you enter a large wooded garden (2500m2) with beautiful views over the rolling landscape and the white cows (CharoIais) in the meadow. If you watch carefully, you may sometimes see a roe deer or a fox walking around under the tree line along the little river Challaux.
The garden is full of large oak trees and offers plenty of privacy. There is a sheltered outdoor kitchen in the garden, with a fire pit where you can cook, a shed (with garden furniture and two bikes) and a wood shed. The house has a cosy living room with a wood-burning stove. From 2 comfortable sofas you can watch a DVD in the evening, or listen to the radio/CD, while enjoying cognac, pastiche, a good glass of wine or a fruit juice. Through the sliding doors with stained glass you enter the spacious kitchen diner with all the basic amenities: 4-burner gas hob, electric oven, filter coffee machine, fridge (with large freezer compartment). From the kitchen there is access to the terrace and stairs to the garden.
A spiral staircase leads to the first floor, where you will find the bathroom/toilet and three bedrooms. Duvets and pillows are provided for all beds. You need to provide your own linen. (1 bedroom with double bed (1 mattress), 1 bedroom with two single beds and 1 bedroom with a queen-size bed).
In the house you will find information on hiking trails, museums, excursions and the surrounding area.
A perfect destination for a great holiday!

Surroundings
The house is located in a quiet agricultural area, surrounded by woods and meadows. A wonderful area for walking or cycling (especially for mountain biking, the hills are numerous and sometimes quite steep). At 10 minutes distance are the large lakes: Lac de Setton, Lac Panneciere, Lac de Chaumard, where you can fish (rich fishing area, note: fishing license required!), swim or take boat trips. Or rent a pedalo and pedal across the lake. In the evening no light pollution but a spectacular starry sky!

Maison très agréable et fraîche quand il fait chaud. Ajoutez un rideau occultant côté porte de la cuisine et un sèche- cheveux et je mets la note de 10
Isabelle Geldof from Izegem,
Restaurants, food & wine
There are a number of remarkably good restaurants in the vicinity, in Ouroux-en-Morvan, but also in the lovely village of Brassy, the charming town of Saulieu or picturesque Lormes. Every Sunday morning there is a market in Ouroux-en-Morvan, where regional products such as fresh dairy products, fresh vegetables straight from the land and real bee honey can be bought. For wine, a visit to the winery "Maison du Vin et de la Tonnellerie" is worthwhile. Or take a trip along the vineyards of the wine city Beaune.
Activities
There is plenty to do in the area, both in terms of sport and culture. The village La Maison (municipality Ouroux-en-Morvan) is situated in the middle of nature in a hilly area surrounded by three lakes. In short, walking, swimming, cycling! Ouroux-en-Morvan is a well-known starting point for many hikes in the area, for hiking routes go to the Tourist Office (in the post office).
For lovers of art, music and cinema, various activities are organised by the local associations. A cultural agenda is available at the Tourist Office in Ouroux-en-Morvan or on the "site web" (pronounced: siet web) of the municipality of Ouroux-en-Morvan.
There is a cinema in Ouroux-en-Morvan, where a French film is shown every week. Around 14 July (bank holidays) the internationally renowned short film festival "Partie(s) de campagne" is organised in Ouroux-en-Morvan. Three days of fun in barns and garages.
Wherever you go, every weekend there is a 'vide-grenier' or 'attic clearing' organised: let yourself be surprised by a bargain. Pay attention to the signs along the way.
There are many museums in the region. Ask the Tourist Office for information. An interesting museum is Bibracte, near the highest point of the Morvan (about 1000 m.), a Roman settlement, which was visited several times by Julius Caesar. Nice and interesting. Amazing is the Museum Septennat in Chateau-Chinon. President Mitterand donated to the museum all the gifts brought by heads of state from all over the world to their host, some of which are remarkable. Next to the Septennat museum is the Costume museum, an overview of fashion in different periods.
In the surrounding area, there is a lot of history to be found, such as in the historical city of Autun (Roman history), pilgrimage site Vezelay, picturesque Avallon.
