The house

Centrally in the Morvan in the area of the lakes, lies in the hamlet La Maison our detached farmhouse 'La maison de la forêt'. It is the last house on a quiet country road (no traffic!), which ends in the forest. Directly from the house you can walk on the hiking trail GR13. Hours of walking without meeting anyone, dogs running free without a leash, unexpectedly standing eye to eye with a group of deer. It is all possible here! The place is very suitable for people who love peace and nature.
The farmhouse with stables and a large barn is situated around a yard on a total of 2300 m2. A beautiful place from the scattered seats in the garden or the indispensable hammock to enjoy the sun and the wide view of the hilly and wooded surroundings.
The house has a bright, spacious and attractive living room of 40m2 with original old tomettes on the floor, a French beamed ceiling, a well-equipped open kitchen, a large Dovre wood stove and CV. On the ground floor a spacious bedroom with a double bed (2×boxspring of 0.80x2.00, together with a mattress cover 1.60x2.00) and a bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. Stairs from the living room to the converted attic of 40m2 with a double bed of 1.40x2.00.

The Morvan is a regional nature park and is located in the heart of Burgundy, 100 km from Dijon and about 750 km from Arnhem. It is a beautiful, unspoiled nature reserve with hills, forests, rivers, meadows and a number of large lakes. The area is known for its clean air, rich flora and fauna, authentic agricultural atmosphere, the white Charolais cows and the scenic landscape.

3 weken hebben wij mogen genieten van de rust en de ruimte, de natuur en de stilte. Het huis is prachtig. Heeft alles wat je nodig hebt. De tuin is groot en privé en afgelegen. We hebben 3 weken heel mooi weer gehad dus veel buiten geleefd. We waren voor de 8e x in de Morvan dus onze favorite stadjes marktjes en terrasjes bezocht. Heerlijk tot rust gekomen. Echt een aanrader dit huis!!

Wat een heerlijk huis en tuin. Direct gaf dit huis een goed en fijn gevoel. Fijne kamer met een grote eettafel en twee heerlijke lounchebanken. Slaapkamer met openslaande deuren. En dan Nout, de herdershond van een bewoner van La Maison. Vanaf dag 1 dikke maatjes met onze jackrussel. Geweldige omgeving met heerlijke wandelpaden. De rust is oorverdovend. We komen zeker terug.

At half an hour driving distance lies the beautiful area of Tannay, where special local wines are produced, such as the well-known dry white 'Melon'. In the village there are several caves where wine can be tasted. Or make a day trip to Beaune, Sancerre, Auxerre or Chablis, good for enjoying the great Burgundy wines.
Activities
In the vicinity are historically interesting towns such as Autun, Clamecy, Vezelay and Avallon. The Lac de Chaumecon near Brassy where you can swim is at about 5 km distance and the Lac des Settons with many water sport possibilities is at 15 km distance. In the neighbourhood there are possibilities for fishing, rafting, horse riding and renting mountain bikes.

Rates are based on 2 people.
Prices include electricity, gas, water and the taxe de séjour. Compulsory final cleaning costs € 40 and deposit € 100. From October to April, a surcharge of € 75 per week is charged for the use of wood and gas (for the central heating).
For more than 2 persons, a surcharge of € 50 per person per week or shorter applies. The stay of children up to 2 years is free.
Dogs are of course welcome! We do not charge extra for his or her stay.
During the low season, it is possible to deviate from the fixed changeover day on Saturday.
