The house
This detached holiday home is a beautiful characteristic country house with private pool and lovely spacious garden in Saint-Leger-de-Fougeret, in the south of Parc National de Morvan.
From the terrace you have majestic unobstructed views over the green hills of the Morvan. The enclosed garden (3000m2) faces south and offers not only complete privacy but also plenty of space for activities: apart from the swimming pool, there is a huge trampoline, boules court, swing and basketball net. Pets by arrangement.
The house is very suitable for several families. If you like walking or cycling, just open the garden gate and you can follow the most beautiful walking and cycling routes through the beautiful hilly landscape.
Layout: On the ground floor is a spacious living/dining room with a large fireplace. Television with Dutch channels, CD player and DVD player available. The house and garden have Wifi, also at the pool ;-)
Kitchen (renewed 2021) with dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, 2 ovens (45 and 100 litres) and various kitchen appliances. Toilet. Downstairs are 2 spacious double bedrooms, one with washbasin and shower (renewed February 2023) and one with washbasin and bidet. Also a cave with an extra fridge. In the garage garden chairs, sun beds, pool toys and children's games. Upstairs a bathroom with bath, large shower and sink (renewed February 2023). A second toilet. Two very large bedrooms (completely refurbished in spring 2024) one of which also serves as a children's playroom: bedroom with 2 double beds and 4 single beds (cot available). Bedroom with 2 double beds. And since spring 2024 here an additional bathroom with shower and toilet. Then another work/bedroom with a double bed. Central heating in all rooms.
Total approx. 300 m2.
The 12 m by 6 m swimming pool has a generous terrace all around and an outdoor shower with hot water. The pool is maintained and cleaned by the caretaker. All you have to do is enjoy!

The holiday home is situated on a small road with hardly any traffic. The terrain is completely fenced so safe for children.
The house is located in the department of Nièvre at 7 hours drive from Utrecht just above a small village on a hill, on over 3000 square meters of land. The town of Moulins-Engilbert with all shops, pharmacy and restaurants is 7 minutes away. At 3 minutes is the village Onlay where you can eat in the local pub. From the house there is a magnificent view over the foothills of the Morvan and the plain of Burgundy. The house is located on beautiful cycling and hiking trails.
The house is large and very suitable to stay with for example two or more families with children.
It was built in the 18th century and has been renovated in old style by a Parisian between 1965 and 1985. The annexe has been renovated in the old style.
There are 2.5 hectares of land belonging to the house.
The house is centrally located between Château-Chinon (9km), Châtillon-en-Bazois (23km) and St. Honoré-les-Bains (17km). Tip: Discover the 821m high Mont-Beuvray (34km) with remains of the Celtic Bibracte, or the castle of Châtillon-en-Bazois (26km). In Autun (60km), check out the amphitheatre, the temple of Janus and the old city walls. Do you like a day of wellness? In the spa in St. Honoré-les-Bains (27km) you can be pampered. In several lakes you can swim and do water sports. For example at Lac de Pannecière (28km) and Lac des Settons (45km).
There are beautiful châteaux in the region and there is always a flea market or other festivity in the area. In Moulins-Engilbert, a world famous auction for Charolais cows takes place every Tuesday morning.
In 1970, the status Parc Naturel Régional was granted to the Morvan. The Morvan is sparsely populated, only 14 inhabitants per km2! Because there is no industry in the Morvan, there is hardly any air pollution. There is also little light pollution so that at night on a clear day you have a breathtaking view of the stars!

Het huis heeft inderdaad een prachtig uitzicht. Absolute rust en stilte. En het is beneden gedeeltelijk gerenoveerd. Wat niet juist is beschreven dat het zwembad verwarmd of 'verwarmbaar' is. In deze streek kan het ook in augustus 's nachts 10 graden zijn. Voor ons maakt een warm zwembad in dit deel van Frankrijk deel uit van onze vakantie. Bij aankomst was het water 19 graden. Op vraag het bad te verwarmen vond de eigenaar echter dat verwarmen 'niet meer maatschappelijk verantwoord' is, en dat ze dat al jaren niet meer doen... Tja, dan is het dus een onverwarmd (koud) zwembad. (toevallig met kapotte filter en kapot alarm). Waar ook belangrijke punten worden verloren zijn: de bedden (140 breed op 190 is echt geen tweepersoons bed), de hele bovenverdieping, en de toiletten zijn flink gedateerd.
Positief zijn dan weer over de prachtige ligging, de praktische keuken en woonkamer met open haard (en beschikbaar hout), 6 mooie ligbedden en parasols aan het zwembad, verschillende zithoeken met zitkussens en tafels buiten, BBQ en vuurplaats.Michael de Jong from Amstelveen,
Fantastisch gelegen met uitzicht op de Morvan heuvels. Dit schitterende huis is echt van ALLES voorzien en heerlijk om in te verblijven. Wij waren er met vrienden uit de V.S. die ook genoten hebben. Het zwembad, de tuin, de zit- en eetkamer en de keuken zijn top!

Wat een geweldige plek! Boven verwachting, zo mooi. Wij hebben hier met zijn tienen een heerlijke week gehad. Het charmante huis is ruim, netjes, schoon en van alle gemakken voorzien. (O.a. een moderne keuken en badkamer) De tuin is fantastisch; een prachtig uitzicht, veel knusse plekjes om te zitten, ligbedden, een vuurplaats, genoeg ruimte om te spelen. Een trampoline en zwembad, maar ook een speelzolder met spelletjes voor minder mooie dagen, echt overal is aan gedacht! Bij aankomst stond er een heerlijke maaltijd voor ons klaar, met dank aan Joah. Echt een aanrader om haar te laten cateren. Vanuit het huis zijn diverse wandelroutes te nemen, waarbij je van het prachtige landschap kan genieten; kabbelende beekjes, groene weides met, in deze tijd van het jaar, prachtig bloemen en grazende koeien. Het klinkt bijna te mooi om waar te zijn, maar geloof me, het huis met de blauwe luiken is een perfect vakantiehuis voor jong en oud.

The holiday home is located in the south-western corner of Burgundy. Burgundy is one of the most popular regions of France thanks to its wide-open fields, its unspoilt nature and its gastronomy. The land of Asterix and Obelix, where you can still live like a true Burgundian! In almost every pub and restaurant, you can have a delicious meal. The local Charolais cows that populate the grassy hills are of course often on the menu.
A wine tour is also worthwhile. The wine regions of Beaune, Meursault, Sancerre and Chablis are about 1 hour away.
Activities
The Morvan is a paradise for hikers, cyclists and nature lovers! For example, there are more than 2300 km of mountain bike routes! The holiday home in the Nièvre department is situated right next to the most beautiful routes. Spring and autumn are the best hiking seasons in the Morvan, when nature is at its most beautiful.
