The house
The charming gîte "en pierre" with slate roof is located in a small hamlet of about ten houses in the south-west of the Morvan and was built around 1890.
On the ground floor are the living room, sitting room, kitchen and bathroom. All rooms have the original, heavy oak beamed ceilings. You enter the living room with a dining table with six chairs. There is a bookcase filled with Dutch books (mainly thrillers) and information about the region and a sideboard containing games and DVDs. There is also a wood-burning stove. From the living room, two steps lead to the kitchen. It is equipped with an induction hob, extractor hood, grill/oven, fridge and separate freezer. There is also a coffee machine, kettle, blender, mixer, toaster and gourmet set. All necessary pots, pans, cutlery, glasses, etc. are sufficiently present. The living room has a two-seater sofa, a footstool and two armchairs. A TV hangs here and this room also has a wood-burning stove. The bathroom has a bathtub with shower screen and a rain shower, a washbasin and a toilet. A washing machine is also available.
Upstairs there are three bright bedrooms, equipped with Velux skylights fitted with mosquito nets, blackout blinds and blinds. There are still the original tomettes on the floor here. Two rooms have a 140 x 200 cm bed (duvets 200 x 200 cm) and one has a 180 x 200 cm bed (duvet 240 x 200 cm).
Dutch radio can be listened to via the internet radio, which also has a USB connection. Wifi is via fibre optic and unlimited. The garden is fenced to 120 cm and the view over the rolling hills is beautiful. There are several terraces with furniture and a barbecue is also available.

In Chateau Chinon (10 kilometres), the capital of the Morvan, you will find supermarkets, shops, cafés and restaurants.
Also in Moulins Engilbert (8 kilometres) you will find a supermarket, shops and terraces. Here you can visit the weekly cattle market.
Swimming pools can be found in Villapourcon, Moulins Engilbert and Saint Honoré les Bains. At Lac des Settons and Lac de Panneciere there are possibilities for fishing and water sports.

Net een mooie week doorgebracht in ‘Le coquelicot’. Nog nooit in de Morvan geweest en we waren onder de indruk, wat een mooie omgeving! Het huis ligt in alle rust en stilte met een prachtig uitzicht over de glooiende heuvels. We hadden ook nog prachtig weer voor begin oktober. Overdag lekker zonnig, een mooie zonsondergang en daarna een schitterende sterrenhemel. De honden konden lekker rondsnuffelen in de omheinde tuin.

Een heerlijk vakantiehuis. Knus en heel gezellig. Het huisje werd zeer zorgvuldig ingericht, we konden het niet bedenken en het was aanwezig. Geweldige boekenkast!!!Een prachtig uitzicht over de glooiende velden, de koeien en de schapen vanuit de tuin. Een fijne tuin waar al het nodige te vinden is om zowel in de zon of als in de schaduw te verblijven. Dit alles in een zalige stilte en rust. De avonden waren prachtig, na een zeer mooie zonsondergang een drukke sterrenhemel!
Het keukentje was supergezellig om in te kokkerellen.
We voelden ons thuis, inclusief de honden!!

Wat hebben we genoten in dit heerlijke huisje in de Morvan!
Le Coquelicot is zó knus, ongelooflijk compleet met een fijne keuken, een spannende boekenkast en ruime slaapvertrekken met prima bedden.En dan de buitenruimte: ‘s Morgens met een kopje koffie in de voortuin in het gezelschap van de hagedisjes, die zich heerlijk kwamen warmen in de ochtendzon. We maakten regelmatig gebruik van de parasol, want de zon scheen van tijd tot tijd zeer uitbundig!
‘s Middags en ‘s avonds zaten we in de achtertuin waar we nooit genoeg kregen van het schitterende uitzicht over het prachtige golvende landschap en de nieuwsgierige Charolais-koeien.
Onderweg naar Chateau-Chinon, o.a. voor de dagelijkse boodschappen, is het ook weer genieten van fraaie uitzichten. Zo ook de route naar Vézelay, een fraai gelegen plaatsje met indrukwekkende basiliek.
Ook Autun, een gezellig stadje om een bezoekje aan te brengen, is goed bereikbaar.Naast de uitstapjes die we gemaakt hebben en een enkel fietstochtje ( de heuvels zijn een uitdaging!) hebben we heel erg genoten van onze boeken en de boeken uit de boekenkast van Le Coquelicot.
De weldadige rust die van dit huisje en de omgeving uitgaat is er één die we niet snel vergeten!Het contact met de eigenaren, Eveline en Stein, was heel fijn en de informatie die we van hen kregen superduidelijk.
Ook het contact met “Gites”verdient een pluim!Wij zijn heel dankbaar dat we twee heerlijke weken van Le Coquelicot gebruik hebben mogen maken!

There are several restaurants in the area with excellent cuisine.
Activities
The Morvan is a regional park where you can go hiking and biking. Near the house is a riding school.
Swimming pools can be found in Villapourcon and Saint Honoré les Bains. At Lac des Settons and Lac de Panneciere there are fishing and water sport possibilities.
Visit Bibracte, the capital of our ancestors, a Gallic tribe. In the summer, a guided tour of the excavations will enable you to discover this exceptional site, with its ancient beech trees with their sinuous forms, its mythical rocks and its sacred springs.
Autun, a city of art and history, invites you for a walk along Roman and Romanesque sights.
To the north, Vézelay sits atop what is said to be an eternal hill and has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the summer, the pilgrimage town of Vézelay is visited by artists, painters and musicians.
Also Beaune, at an hour and a half's drive, is definitely worth a visit.
Every weekend there is a vide grenier (flea market) somewhere to visit.
