The house
You wake up in the spacious bedroom... still dreaming under the beautiful beamed ceiling and then you open the terrace doors of the room, let the sun come in! In the living room, you still find the empty wine glasses from the previous evening and you look through the window to see how the sun colours the surrounding hills.
In the cosy, country kitchen the coffee smells and on the kitchen table there are fresh rolls. The cosy wood-burning stove doesn't need to be lit on a warm summer's day, but on cold evenings it provides lovely atmospheric moments by the fire...
A holiday in the spacious gîte (80m2) of Domaine de Savigny is a holiday in a rural atmosphere. A place to enjoy both the tranquility of the landscape and the activities and cozy towns of Burgundy.
The detached cottage of over 80 m² is completely private on the grounds of Domaine de Savigny. Everything is present for a successful stay! The gîte consists of a spacious kitchen, a living room with wood stove, a hall, a spacious bathroom and a large bedroom. In the gîte, the kitchen and the washbasin in the bathroom are installed at a pleasant working height. Taller people have been taken into account. The gîte is entirely at ground level, so even if you have trouble walking, you can easily move around.
In the bedroom there are two comfortable box spring beds, made up as a double bed and there is a large sofa bed for a possible third guest (if you come with two small children, a fourth bed is also possible). Garden furniture, parasol, washing machine, dryer and microwave are available. As well as bed linen, kitchen linen and towels. Domaine de Savigny has a cot, which can be added for a small fee.
The bathroom has a lovely spacious shower, a washbasin and a toilet. The living room has a comfortable couch and a lovely lazy chair around the wooden coffee table. This is a nice place to sit by the woodstove, with a view of the hills. The country kitchen with large authentic fireplace offers everything you need to try out the Burgundian cooking skills. You can park your car near the cottage and your bike or motorbike can be stored dry in the spacious barns of Domaine de Savigny. WIFI is available.

In the evening, you are sitting on the terrace enjoying the sunset... suddenly you hear rustling nearby. Our 'own' squirrels come to have a look, and then disappear again into the higher trees further on. The gîte you are staying in belongs to Domaine de Savigny, an old summer residence of a noble family who lived there long ago. All the land in the green hilly surroundings used to belong to it.
In the direct vicinity of the domaine is St. Saulge. The village with the legend of the church and the cow (go and see the church tower), but also with two fine boulangeries, a supermarket and a good restaurant.
St. Saulge can be praised for its mountain bike routes! No less than 550 kilometres of routes are signposted and the routes all start in the village itself. There is a nice route for every level.

Activities
Whether you want to laze around all week with a book on your own terrace or just want to go out and discover the outdoor possibilities of Burgundy, everything is possible! Mountain biking in the area of St. Saulge, white water canoeing on the Yonne, horseback riding through the hills, beautiful hikes where you will not meet anyone, a boat trip on the canals, swimming, rafting, sailing, surfing, climbing. The hills of the Bourgogne offer enough possibilities and the nearby Morvan can be called a Valhalla for outdoor lovers.
Besides all the sporting activities, Burgundy is also an important base for a large part of European history. In some places, it is literally on the street. In the cosy, atmospheric cities in the area, you will discover beautiful old churches and monasteries and between the hills, you will see beautiful old castles.
Furthermore, during the summer season, you can enjoy the cosy brocantes that are organised every weekend. A great opportunity to get hold of that one beautiful box or, for example, old crockery.
Cities such as Vézelay with its impressive Basilica de La Madeleine and Nevers with its majestic Palais Ducal are more than worth a visit and are just a stone's throw away. The cosy streets with nice shops and terraces in Nevers offer a nice change from the quiet green hills of the countryside.

The contact person of the gîte also lives at Domaine de Savigny and you can always go there with questions or to arrange something. Whether your question is asked in Dutch, German, French, English or Frisian, it will be all right.
Bed linen, kitchen linen and towels are included in the price. For the gîte there is a mandatory final cleaning of € 35,-. Heating costs are charged in April and October. These heating costs are € 35,- per week. It is possible to rent a baby bed for € 25,- per week.
Smoking is not allowed in the gîte. Pets on request. Internet (WIFI) is available.
Stay in the gîte is from Saturday to Saturday. Other periods (outside the high season) in the gîte can be discussed. The gîte is not available from November through March.

- Bed linen, kitchen linen and towels are included in the price, the beds are made when you arrive.
- The gîte is subject to a mandatory final cleaning fee of € 42.50
- Heating costs in low season are included.
- It is possible to rent a baby bed for € 25,- euro per week.
- The gite is intended for 3 people, but spacious enough for a fourth guest (child). For a fourth guest we charge € 10,- euro per night extra.
- We accept a maximum of 2 dogs in the gite. The dogs must be registered at the time of booking. Cost for the stay per dog per week: € 15,- euro.
- Smoking is not allowed in the gîte.
- Staying in the gîte can be from Friday to Monday (long weekend) or from Monday to Friday (midweek) or for a week, depending on availability and weddings on our domain.
- The gîte is available from April to October.
- Internet (WIFI) is available in the gite.
- There is no credit card system or ATM at Domaine de Savigny. There is an ATM at the bank in the village of St Saulge, if needed.

Een heerlijk plekje met een schitterend uitzicht rondom. Als gastvrouw en gastheer zijn Gretha en Sjoerd uitermate geschikt en ze doen alles om het de gasten naar de zin te maken. Gretha kan heerlijk koken en bij mooi weer wordt er buiten ontbeten of gedineerd. Een adres om heerlijk tot rust te komen midden in de natuur.

Uitstekende accommodatie! We hebben een supervakantie gehad. Het vakantiehuis was ruim en van alle gemakken voorzien. Rondom het vakantiehuis ligt een parktuin van 2 hectaren, waardoor we heerlijk hebben gewandeld met onze hond. Tevens hebben wij gebruik gemaakt van de tables d'hotes in het manoir op hetzelfde domein. Het eten was prima in orde. Een dikke voldoende voor onze gastvrouw, die onze vakantie tot een plezier heeft gemaakt. Mvg Giel en Marion.

Dit is echt een aanrader! We werden heel hartelijk ontvangen door eigenaren Gretha en Sjoerd. Dit was het begin van een heerlijke week met mooi weer, wat op zich niet zo verwonderlijk is want volgens de ANWB is dit een gebied met een grote kans op mooi weer. Wat heeft de Bourgogne een prachtig, zeer divers landschap zeg! De complete uitrusting én stijlvolle inrichting van de woning maakten de momenten "thuis" ook zeer aangenaaml. De woning is comfortabel en heeft royale leefruimtes, waaronder een gezellige woonkeuken. Ook onze dochter van vier jaar kon zich hier prima vermaken. Chapeau!
