The house
Above the old "cuverie" is the spacious and bright gite. You can reach it through your private entrance. AS you enter the gite, your eyes are immediately drawn to the beautiful high authentic oak roof construction. The view is truly magnificent. From the room you look at Chateau Couches. The living room has an area of 55 m2. In the seating area you 'll find a Smart-TV. There are 2 armchairs and a coffee table. The pleasant dining area has a large table (200 x 95 cm) and 4 comfortable chairs. There is a TV corner with 2 armchairs and a divan. The modern kitchen is fully equipped and ideal for those who want to cook. There is a dishwasher, oven / microwave, fridge with freezer, 4 burner gas stove, Senseo and kettle. There is sufficient crockery and cutlery available. The romantic bedroom (16 m2) has a lovely double bed and a spacious wardrobe. The divan in the living room can serve as an extra (3rd) bed. The luxurious bathroom has a bath, sink, toilet and bidet. There is sufficient bed, bath and kitchen linen available for your stay. The beds are already freshly made upon arrival.
Directly in front of the gite is a small terrace, where you can enjoy breakfast in the morning. On the other side of the house is a large woodland garden with several seating areas and a BBQ.

La Creuse is a small hamlet of Couches, it is located at the foot of the historic castle of Couches. The center of Couches is only one and a half kilometers from the gite. It is a beautiful typical French village with all the amenities you want. There are 2 supermarkets, a bakery, a Bar / Tabac, 5 restaurants and even a theatre. The area surrounding Couches is ideal for walking, cycling, golfing and sightseeing. Couches is located in the heart of the Burgundy wine region. You will find the characteristic wine villages of Mercurey, Meursault and Pommard.
Couches is easily accessible from the A6. It is 30 km from the Beaune exit and 25 km from the Chalon sur Saone exit. Due to its location close to Autun, it is also easily accessible from the Morvan.

Wat een super fijn en ruim vakantiehuis is dit! Wij waren er in augustus met een baby van 6 maanden en onze hond. Wat ons betreft is echt aan alles gedacht en is alles in het huis aanwezig. Toen wij er waren was het bloedheet (35 graden) maar met 3(!) ventilatoren was het huis goed koel te houden. Ook hebben we genoten van de fijne bostuin met meerdere (schaduwrijke) zitjes én hangmatten! Het bed sliep heerlijk en in het bad was het heerlijk opfrissen en, in ons geval verkoelen. Als je de weg oversteekt is er een fijn wandelpad waar wij elke dag lekker de hond konden uitlaten. Veel leuke uitstapjes op goede rij afstand en wat ons betreft de lekkerste croissants en eclairs in Saint Leger sur Dheune (ook een grote winkel, de “B1”. Het contact met Huub en Sonja hebben wij ook als zeer prettig ervaren. Wat een prachtige plek, een aanrader!

Wat is deze plek een oase van rust. We zijn heel hartelijk ontvangen door Huub en Sonja. Prachtige gite met alles wat je nodig hebt en zelfs een flesje wijn in de koeling. We voelden ons gelijk thuis. We hebben genoten van de mooie bostuin en de prachtige omgeving. Zeker voor herhaling vatbaar.

Restaurants, food & wine
In terms of food and drink, you are in the right place in Burgundy. In Couches alone there are 5 restaurants and in the villages around it there is also a good place to eat for everyone's taste and budget. From the star restaurants in Beaune to a local pizzeria. When it comes to wines, there is plenty of choice. You can enjoy the local wines from the Côte Couchois to the exquisite wines from the Côte d'Ór. And all that within a radius of 25 km.
Activities
The area surrounding Couches is ideal for hiking, cycling, golf, wine tasting and sightseeing. We have many hiking and cycling tips, there are beautiful golf courses in Beaune, Chalon, Autun and Montchanin. On the canal "du center", 5 km from us, you can take boat trips through the panoramic Burgundian landscape.
The castle of Couches dates from the 12th century and is well worth a visit. It also houses an excellent restaurant. In the numerous "caves" in Couches and surroundings you can taste and buy wine all year round. In addition, there are various wine festivals spread throughout the year, where winegrowers present themselves with the most beautiful wines from their range. For example, in August there is the "Ronde Couchois", where 18 wineries open their doors and introduce you to their wines in a cozy atmosphere. At the beginning of July there is Jazz in Couches. National and international musicians play on the festival site. A festival of a completely different caliber is the motorcycle meeting "Macadam" in the last weekend of July. Here you can marvel at the beautiful motorcycles and their riders. The whole is graced in style with music and spectacle. Throughout the year there are flea markets and typical French markets in the region, Chagny on Sunday morning is highly recommended.
Couches is located in the triangle of Autun, Beaune and Chalon-sur-Saone. Autun is known for its Roman antiquities, Beaune of course for its excellent wines and Chalon is a pleasant shopping town on the Saone.
