The house
"Le Champcery" is a holiday home located just outside the cosy village of Issy-l'Évêque. Nestled among the rolling hills of Burgundy, this former farmhouse is a great place for those looking for peace and quiet. With its whitewashed exterior walls, wooden-beamed ceilings and tasteful furnishings, "Le Champcery" exudes warmth and character.
You enter into the well-equipped kitchen/dining room. Adjacent is the spacious living room, an inviting place to relax, play a game or watch television. Right next door you enter the former "pigsty", now converted into a lovely room overlooking the garden where you can enjoy the evening sunset.
Outside on the terrace there are several seating areas and picnic tables to enjoy a snack or a drink. In the large enclosed garden you can relax with a good book under the shade of old trees, play a game of "jeu des boules" on the "Petanque court" or simply enjoy the soothing sound of nature.
The bathroom in "Le Champcery" has a spacious walk-in shower with glass walls and a rain shower. The house has a comfortable bedroom.
"Le Champcery" is the perfect base to explore this beautiful part of France. For those seeking adventure, the Burgundy region is rich in opportunities. Explore the nearby vineyards and taste some of the world's best wines, visit historic castles and picturesque villages, or take leisurely walks and bike rides in the area.

Le Champcery is situated 3 kilometres from the village of Issy l'Eveque. In Issy l'Eveque you will find all the first necessities of life. There is a small supermarket, a baker who bakes delicious croissants, a pharmacy, a cosy restaurant, etc. In short, an ideal place for people who are looking for peace and quiet, but who also like a bit of liveliness around them.
Issy-l'Evêque is situated in a beautiful region called the South Morvan and is known for its charming 'bocage' landscape, its white Charolais cows and Romanesque churches.
Eight kilometres north of Issy-l'Evêque starts the famous regional nature park of the Morvan. The Morvan is a beautiful nature park in Burgundy. It is a mountainous area where you can still find true unspoiled nature. The landscape is characterized by mountains, hills, vast forests, blue lakes and rippling rivers. There is plenty to do and experience in this region.
There are also many nice little towns. Vézelay still has a medieval character and you will find the nicest restaurants and shops here. Château-Chinon and Autun are also fantastic and certainly not to be missed. Want to relax at a nice swimming lake? Then pay a visit to Lac des Settons.
In short, there is plenty to do in the Morvan!
But also nearby there is a lot of nature experience. A hundred metres from the house, you walk straight into the forest, where deer, foxes and wild boars can cross your path. A little further on, on the banks of the Somme River, lives a population of beavers.
On top of that, Burgundy is a rich and wonderful region that has a lot to offer.
Places like Beaune, Autun, Nevers and Mâcon are easy to drive to.

Hartelijke ontvangst door Marque en Mirjam. Een mooie nette woning, alles prima verzorgd. We zijn helemaal tot rust gekomen hier, het was heerlijk om te fietsen en te wandelen en te genieten van de omgeving.

Na 3 dagen Lyon te hebben bezocht zijn we bij Le Champcery geheel tot rust gekomen. We werden gastvrij ontvangen door Marque en Mirjam.. Het huis is van alle gemakken voorzien. Een luxe badkamer, een gezellige woonkamer, een keuken waar alles aanwezig is wat je nodig hebt en slaapkamer met heerlijke bedden maakt dat je je thuis voelt. We hadden prachtig weer waardoor we heerlijk buiten konden ontbijten en dineren. Door de ligging van het huis heb je vanuit de tuin een magnifiek uitzicht over de heuvels. Kortom we hebben elk moment genoten en achteraf gedacht waarom zijn we niet langer gebleven. Wie weet gaan we nog een keer.

Het huis is van alle gemakken voorzien. Heerlijke bedden. Wat er uitspringt is de ligging. Helemaal vrij, midden in de natuur. Er liep zelfs een ree in de gigantisch grote tuin. We hebben een hond en die kon vrij loslopen. Heerlijk. Super mooie omgeving en mooie wandelingen te maken. Een leuk restaurantje in de buurt voor een lunch en een kop koffie in de ochtend. Aardige mensen. We hebben genoten!

Restaurants, food & wine
From Issy-l'Evêque all wine regions are within easy reach: the Chablis in the north, the Loire wines (Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé) in the west, the Beaujolais in the south-east and the famous Bourgogne in the east. Plenty of possibilities for an interesting wine route and a tasting at one of the many wine estates and 'cave cooperatives'.
There are plenty of restaurants in the area; from good but simple eateries to culinary top restaurants and everything in between. In places like Luzy, St. Didier-sur-Arroux, Autun and Bourbon-Lancy you can find nice places to eat.

The area around "Le Champcery" offers interesting day trips and excursions.
Every Sunday there are cosy vide-greniers in the area, where fun and collectible items are offered for sale.
From the gîte, you can take lovely walks in all directions; you will enjoy the views and the tranquil, lovely landscape.
Le Champcery is on a pilgrims' route. Burgundy is an excellent area for cycling enthusiasts. With many cycle paths along the canals, through the vineyards, through the green Morvan and on the Voie Verte from Chalon-sur-Saône to Mâcon. In few regions do you come across so many different types of and moreover well-maintained cycling routes.
Burgundy is a rural region but one steeped in history. You can see that in beautiful places like Dijon, Beaune or medieval Semur-en-Auxois , Vézelay, and of course Cluny, with its impressive abbey.
Burgundy has many different faces, with countryside, vineyards, canals, rivers and forests. One of our favourite parts is southern Burgundy. Where the vineyards of the Côte d'Or gradually blend into the more expansive valleys of the Clunisois and Maconnais. You can tell from everything - the light, the vegetation, the architecture - that this is where the South begins!
Burgundy produces the world's best wines
Chardonnay and pinot noir. The world's 2 tastiest grape varieties grow on this unique terroir and make unrivalled wines. Yet Burgundy is a remarkably accessible wine region. Tasting directly from the winemaker is even very simple: if a house or farm has a wine barrel next to the gate with empty bottles on it, you are welcome for a dégustation.
Between fields, forests and vineyards are beautiful villages, such as Flavigny-sur-Ozerain, Semur-en-Brionnais and Châteauneuf-en-Auxois... Houses with wooden shutters and pierres apparentes in which you would like to live.
Burgundy has very beautiful visiting castles that stand out for their conviviality. No strict driveways or stately walled domains like in other French regions, but modest châteaux scattered across the countryside. Like Château de Couches in the Creuse valley, the castle of Rochepot, not far from Beaune, or the fortress of Berzé le Chatel near Cluny.
Already for 20 euros you have a three-course menu to kiss in Burgundy. With regional classics like jambon persillé, snails or œufs en meurette (egg in red wine sauce) as a starter. Followed by bœuf bourguignon, Bresse chicken or pikeperch. And for dessert: cassis ice cream or local cheeses, such as the fabulous époisses!
According to Goscinny, Asterix lived in Brittany, but Burgundy was home to the capital of the Celts: Bibracte. There is a very nice museum dedicated to it (near Autun) and even greater is the approach to Alésia (the Waterloo of the Gauls...). Interesting museum! Moreover, in summer, actors here re-enact the man-on-man battles of the battle, on and around Julius César's reconstructed line of attack.
