The house
Holiday home in beautiful and calm surroundings, comfortably furnished, with an (unfenced) garden of about 200 m2, partly shaded by a cherry and walnut tree and with a sunny gravel terrace. The holiday home 'La Vigne de Montaugey' is the former house of the gardener on the grounds of a (19th century) château. The ideal place to unwind, hike, or enjoy the cultural, natural, sporting and other pleasures of Burgundy and the Morvan.
Layout:
Ground floor: You enter the house in the (fully equipped) kitchen, with a kitchen table to sit around. Next, there’s a cosy but roomy living room with a comfortable sofa and armchairs, and a wood stove. In the hall leading to the first floor is a small room with a washing machine, hoover etc. and a toilet.
First floor: One large bedroom with a very comfortable double bed (200 x 160 cm), with a lovely view over the Burgundy hills. Adjacent to this room (and accessible only through here) is a small room with a bed 190 x 90 cm. This small room also serves as storage for the owners.
Down the hall is a second bedroom, with two beds of 190 x 90 cm. They can be made into a double if necessary.
Bathroom with a shower and a wash basin. Separate WCs.
The total surface area is 101m2. The house is located at 419 m altitude, on a cul-de-sac, in the middle of a lovely, calm, hilly landscape of forest and meadow.
There’s electric heating throughout the house, as well as a well-functioning wood-burning stove in the lounge.

Surroundings
The house is situated in the hamlet of Montaugey, on the château estate (19th century manor house). It’s the former house of the gardener, and stands on a dead-end road between the orchards and the herb garden of the castle. Situated in the beautiful Parc National du Morvan, at 3 km from the village of Saint-Léger-sous-Beuvray (where you’ll find a small supermarket for daily groceries and a bakery for delicious bread and cakes), 8 km from Étang-sur-Arroux (larger supermarket and open-air swimming pool) and 20 km from Autun (Roman theatre, cathedral, medieval centre, twice weekly a market with fresh local products, large open-air swimming pool). It’s Burgundy- so good food and drinks are widely available.

We hebben genoten. Het huis is prima verzorgd en ook met de warmte aangenaam. Op onze vragen werd meteen gereageerd en we kregen ook nuttige tips. De omgeving is fantastisch. Het is echt een aanrader.
Restaurants, food & wine
Montaugey is located in the Burgundy region - at max. 50 km from the most well-known grands crus. Culinary: The good bourguignon country kitchen is abundant here. For meat-eaters - Autun and its surroundings are part of 'les terres charolaises'. For cheese eaters - there are good artisanal goat cheese makers nearby. And for the vegetable eaters - twice a week in Autun: a market under the town hall with beautiful fresh vegetables.
