The house
The gîte L 'Abri is located above the space where Domaine La Montagne's wine presses and barrels used to be. The gîte has its own parking space on the west side with stairs to the entrance of the very spacious living room-kitchen. On the east side you have an entrance to the hall with stairs to the same living room-kitchen. From the living room-kitchen you have access through a corridor to the toilet, bathroom with shower, 4 single rooms and a double room with toilet, shower and sink. Gîte L 'Abri was completely renovated and well insulated in 2014.

The terrace and swimming pool are fenced. There is no traffic and the grounds are 5 ha large....Football can be played in the spacious meadow behind your accommodation. The garden has a large and a small swing and a trampoline. Together with other guests, there is a lawn for sunbathing and a boules court.
Because of the pure air, our own grounds where you can take a stroll and the excellent walking possibilities in the area, a stay at La Montage is very suitable for COPD patients.
In the immediate vicinity of gite L'Abri you can swim and fish (e.g. fishpond with trout, carp and catfish in the Saône) and rent pedal boats, boats, canoes and bicycles. Nearby are caves, a climbing forest, a swimming lake, a golf course and a flying club. Along the river near Tournus, fun children's attractions are organised in summer.

Een heerlijk rustige plaats om vakantie te houden, op een pittoreske locatie met een schitterend uitzicht over het stadje, en zelfs tot aan de Mont Blanc bij helder weer.
Bij het vallen van de avond is het heerlijk om in de voortuin te genieten van het steeds veranderende uitzicht.
Het ruim appartementje is voorzien van alle nodig comfort . Onze kinderen hebben zich uitgeleefd op de kickertafel en ping-pong-tafel in de huiskamer.
De slaapkamers zijn met smaak ingericht, met comfortabele bedden, en het geheel is prima onderhouden.

Vriendelijk ontvangen door Miranda, ontbrak het aan niets. Keurig huisje met een geweldig uitzicht vanaf het balkonnetje, waar we zelfs de Mont Blanc hebben gezien! Lekker ontbijten daar in de zon en een aperitief in de schaduw. Tournus is een leuke plaats met prachtige abdij (eigenlijk mooier dan Cluny!) heerlijk gefietst langs de Saône en het kasteel van Comartin bezocht. Mooie streek!

Leuke vakantiewoning. Verzorgd en smaakvol interieur met warme kleuren. Ondanks de fibromyalgie kon ik goed slapen dankzij de goede matras. Dat is niet in ieder vakantiehuis zo. Wij vonden het leuk om op het voormalige wijngoed te verblijven; er zijn veel historische elementen aanwezig. Als je op het balkonnetje aan de voorkant zit heb je een grandioos uitzicht en kan je bij helder weer de Mont Blanc zien! Het was er heerlijk rustig mede omdat het buiten de bebouwde kom ligt. Wij waren er eind mei en hebben tijdens mooie wandelingen in de omgeving veel wilde orchideeën gezien. in Bourgondië struikel je over de historische gebouwen; erg interessant! En last but not least: de eigenaren waren er niet maar wel gastvrouw Miranda uit Nederland. zij bleek een actieve jongedame te zijn die ons hielp met raad en daad en erg prettig in de omgang was. We hebben veel zin om nog eens terug te komen!
Restaurants, food & wine
When we write Burgundy, who does not think of the world-famous Burgundy wines. A host of wineries, châteaux a wine cooperatives are in the immediate vicinity. Although we don't live in Charollais (the area around Charolles, about 60 km from here) you always see those beautiful white Charollais cows walking in the meadows. These are beef cows (not dairy cows) and the calves usually stay with them for a long time. You can find cows like this all over Saône-et-Loire. Very worthwhile to visit the most important, largest and oldest livestock market where these animals are traded. The market probably started as early as the Xth century. You should then go to Saint-Christophe-en-Brionnais, a hamlet quite a way past Charolles (over 80 km from us). Every Wednesday, two livestock markets are held there: the traditional market where buyers and sellers meet and trade by hand, and the American-style livestock market: the safe one with entry and exit. At the market, you can enjoy a delicious piece of meat from the village's "Keurslager" at lunchtime.

Further remarks
The region has a very varied range of hills, valleys, meadows, forests, rivers, old quarries, caves, rocks and lakes with winding country roads, making the gîte L'Abri van La Montagne an excellent base for motorcyclists, cyclists and mountain bikers. The "voie verte" (through vineyards and forest/meadowland) and the "voie bleu" (along the river) are beautiful car-free cycling routes where you can cross Burgundy to your heart's content.
Visiting old castles, monasteries, villages and the cities of Tournus, Chalon sur Saône, Mâcon and Cluny are worthwhile for the whole family. In season, there is a lively brocante or market somewhere nearby every day. The very extensive weekly market on Monday mornings in Louhans with specific regional products is not to be missed!
