The house

Lake Cottage comfortably sleeps 5 adults plus a baby.
All bed linen and towels are provided. (Cot bedding is not provided)
There is a private enclosed south facing garden that provides a wonderful sun trap. Relax and use the patio garden furniture (two loungers also provided) and enjoy the evenings with a glass of wine from the complimentary bottle of wine the owner provides, or why not try a local apéritif! You can also enjoy the peace and quiet and use the B-B-Q provided and dine outside.
The ground floor shower room was refitted last year. It has a shower, heated towel rail, toilet and sink. There is an additional separate toilet and sink upstairs..
The kitchen is well equipped with cooker, kettle, toaster, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washing machine, iron/ironing board and all the necessary kitchen utensils. There is a new Nespresso coffee machine with 10 pods, further pods can be bought at the local Intermarche supermarket. There is also a dining table in this area and a highchair is also available.
The lounge has a comfortable three piece suite, with recliner function so home from home comforts and a lovely granite fireplace, perfect for cosy evenings in front of the fire. The lounge also has a TV with English and French channels, DVD player and CD player. There is a large selection of books and games for indoor use.
There are two bedrooms upstairs. Bedroom 1 is a large double bedroom and Bedroom 2 has a triple sleeper containing a double bed with a single bed on top..
Here is what a guests who stayed in April 2019 said about the cottage: "We have spent some wonderful ten days, cycling, hiking and visiting some charming towns and villages. The cottage is very comfortable, offering all the important commodities. Definitely a place to recommend".

Location, location, location! This tranquil cottage sleeps 5 (+baby) and welcomes well behaved dogs. there is a secluded garden for relaxing or eating "al fresco". It was built c1900 and is only 500 metres from Lac de Guerlédan, the largest lake in Brittany.
In Brittany you will find a varied region and landscape. From spectacular beaches with rugged coastlines to vast sandy expanses, to peaceful woods and forests and the famous Nantes-Brest Canal. All the makings of a perfect holiday!
Lake Cottage is a delightful stone cottage providing comfortable accommodation for up to 5 guests (+1 baby) and is a short walk from the popular Lac de Guerlédan, a stunning lake 7 miles long that provides an abundance of activities for couples and families of all ages.
The property is in the heart of Brittany in the hamlet of Kergoff, tucked away up a lovely lane providing beautiful views and is within walking distance (1km) to the village of Caurel. Caurel has a number of restaurants and cafe/bars and a wonderful glass making workshop and gallery where you can book a half day workshop and take home a piece of your own glass work.
The whole lake area is surrounded by the Quenecan Forest, which is privately owned by the Count, Although privately owned, the Count has has allowed pathways to be cleared through the forest, making it a walkers paradise, where you can enjoy the peace and quiet.
Near to Caurel is Bon Repos with its lovely Abbey and popular Sunday morning market.
Each year in August there is a fantastic "Son et Lumière" performed after dark telling tales of Brittany through the ages. This is followed by a spectacular firework display.
Josselin, a beautiful medieval town with a perfectly preserved, inhabited chateau, is just a 1 hour drive. Visit the chateau, the Doll Museum or just enjoy a meal in one of the many restaurants in the cobbled square.
There are many pretty Breton towns all with their own charms.
Mur de Bretagne is a small charming town only a ten minute drive away and here there are supermarkets, shops, restaurants, markets, banks, post office and church and of course the wonderful boulangeries for delicious bread and patisseries!
You can also walk or cycle into Mur de Bretagne along the cycle track close to the cottage which was once a rural railway line. It goes for about 15 km to Mur de Bretagne in one direction and 45 km in the other direction to Carhaix. The Brest/Nantes canal is about 2 miles away (it runs into and out of the lake). The tow path is flat and suitable for walking and cycling.
Further on from Mur de Bretagne is the the larger historic town of Pontivy, approximately 25 minutes drive from the cottage and here there is a large array of shops, supermarkets, restaurants and large Monday market.
A bit further away is Mont St Michel, approximately 2 hours drive, the world renowned Unesco Heritage site. Definitely worth a visit!

    We had a very relaxing two weeks in this lovely gite. The gite had everything we needed including english and french tv. The area is superb for cycling, with several easy long distance routes on the doorstep.

    We had a great time at the house. Very nice and quiet beautiful surroundings, very nice garden with garden stools. Beautiful lake at walking distance. I can fully recommend it!

    Heerlijk huis op heerlijke plek! Onze hond Miep mocht mee, heel fijn, en vond het ook super! Vanuit het huisje loop je zo het bos in en om het meer van Guerdean. Dat kenden we al en is jaarrond heel bijzonder. Wij kunnen dit huis van harte aanbevelen! Oh ja, de bedden: WOW!

Restaurants, food & wine

Caurel has a number of restaurants and cafe/bars.
The cuisine in the area includes crepes and galettes and of course the seafood! Mussels and oysters are available throughout the region, particularly in the summer months. Cider is produced here and local varieties are available in all supermarkets and restaurants.
During the summer numerous villages and town celebrate the "Pardon" which is predominantly a religious thanksgiving but is always followed by a celebratory meal (with a drink or two!) and Breton dancing.

Activities

Lake Cottage is in the heart of Brittany, department Cotes d'Armor, in the hamlet of Kergoff, The cottage is within walking distance (1km) to the village of Caurel. There are numerous things to do in the area and the cottage is perfectly situated for those who love watersports. There is no shortage of activities at nearby Lake Guerledan including swimming, skiing, canoeing, and pedloes and fishing. Also locally is horse riding, quad bike hire and for the less energetic, plenty of wonderful cafes and restaurants to watch these from!
The canalside village of Bon Repos is very popular. Here there are many walks and some lovely bars and restaurants. Every Sunday is an artisan market. A security deposit (for any damage) of 150E will be required 56 days before your rental starts through our local Prestige agents.

The amount will be refunded after a satisfactory report from the cleaning team.
Pet Policy and Pet Fee applies, 25€ per week.
Please leave the gite clean and tidy. Failure to do this may result in Damage Deposit being withheld.
