Nestled in the Cotes-d'Armor region of Brittany, ‘Quai du Val’ is situated in a unique plot on the banks of the River Rance, in the picturesque village of Lehon, where you can enjoy unspoiled views of the river and the surroundings all day long.

Léhon is proud to have the Petite Cité de Caractère (small City of Character) award for its preserved old town, cobbled streets, ornate facades, general all-round beauty and protected character. On every street, you can observe the pretty stone buildings, coloured doors and floral displays, making it a village you will never forget!

On entering the village, you can see the top of a rocky promontory, the ruins of Léhon feudal castle which date back to the thirteenth century, overlook the Abbey and the houses of the old town. The view from the top is breathtaking!
How about taking a stroll or cycle along the towpath next to the River Rance? There is nothing better than taking in the wonderful sights along the towpath which takes you directly into the beautiful port of Dinan. Walk, jog, cycle, the choice is yours!

It takes approximately 25 minutes on foot. Once you have taken in all the charm that Lehon has to offer, you will pass over the old bridge which was constructed sometime between the fifteenth and sixteenth century, on the site of a ford that existed on the Rance and allowed the ancient Rennes-Corseul way to cross the river.

Following the towpath towards Dinan, you will see a large garden which is part of the grounds of St. Magloire Abbey in Léhon. You will also catch sight of Le Bourg and the outdoor pool, before passing the lock which is still in continual use, particularly with pleasure boats that run from Dinan.

The towpath winds around with the river, where you can take in some spectacular countryside. Before long, the spectacular Dinan viaduct will come into view, leading you to the port of Dinan, which is alive with restaurants, shops and water sports.

The excellent house is fully equipped. Everything you might need is there. The furniture and beds are really comfortable. So a day inside when it is raining is not that bad. Kids really loved the Wifi. It is fast enough for streaming youtube.

There is a lot to do in the neighborhood. There are pictures of great places hanging on the walls in the house. We tried to visit all those places. A fun game to do with kids.

There is a restaurant in the village but keep in mind that you can only pay with cash (also in the Cafe). In about a twenty-minute walk to Dinan along the river (over the bridge to the left) there are a lot of restaurants.

There are a bakery and a butcher in the village (5-minute walk). The village is lovely.

It was a great stay and we recommend this gite with a 9.

Restaurants, food & wine

Lehon has one restaurant, La Marmite, which serves fantastic traditional french cuisine, all cooked freshly on site every day. It is open from Tuesday - Saturday (reservations recommended).
In the nearby town of Dinan the choice of restaurants is endless! Too many to mention!
The cuisine in the area includes crepes and galettes and of course the seafood! Mussels and oysters are available throughout the region, particularly in the summer months. Cider is produced here and local varieties are available in all supermarkets and restaurants.
During the summer numerous villages and town celebrate the "Pardon" which is predominantly a religious thanksgiving but is always followed by a celebratory meal (with a drink or two!) and Breton dancing.

Activities

The village also benefits from an outdoor swimming pool. A unique experience, the heated outdoor pool is situated next to the beautiful Abbey and is open all year round. Imagine yourself in the autumn or winter in the pool with the water vapours rising, the lights illuminating the village and the view of the Saint-Magloire Abbey... It certainly is a wellness break in an exceptional setting!
