The house
Dating back to the 15th Century and steeped in history, the Manoir, Gites, Lake, and Woodland originally belonged to the Chateau owned by Olivier de la Motte. Gites La Vallee is situated in beautiful Breton countryside close to the small village of Plumaudan, with it’s amenities, and only 10 minutes drive to several supermarkets and 15 minutes drive to the magnificent medieval walled city of Dinan. Each gite has it’s own particular character and charm, with many of the original oak beams and stonework features retained throughout.
At Gites La Vallee, we offer two well equipped 3 bedroomed self-catering holiday cottages, which can be rented separately or in conjunction with the other property, Le Puits.
At the front, the property has a fenced and gated garden and deck area with garden table and chairs for 6 guests and barbeque. Walking in through the two stone arched doors brings you to a spacious kitchen / dining area and separate lounge area. The fully fitted kitchen benefits from an electric oven, gas hob, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, The table seats 6 guests.
The lounge has a seating area for 6 guests and there is a flat-screen TV with UK Freesat & French TV, DVD, Bluetooth audio system. There is a cupboard containing board games.
The first floor is accessed by a wooden staircase. There are a master double bedroom and two twin bedded rooms, a family bathroom with a WC, basin, bath and overhead shower, and a separate WC and hand basin. Two of the bedrooms have a view of the old chateau next door.
A travel cot and high chair are available on request. Free Wi-fi is available in the house.
There is a games room with a pool table, table football, darts, dvds, books and tourist information. Outside, there is a children's play area, outdoor games including table tennis table and the lake and grounds to discover. There is the potential to fish in the lake too. There is a 10m heated swimming pool (open mid May to end September) with a high, retractable pool cover, allowing you to swim in a warm and sheltered environment or open when the sun shines.

Gites La Vallee is located 1km from the village of Plumaudan and is easily accessible on foot and by bicycle. In the village you will find a boulangerie, a mini-market, a bar / tabac, a counter post office, a pharmacy and a doctors' surgery.
Gites La Vallee is 15 minutes drive from the attractive, historic, medieval walled city of Dinan. The Brittany coast and it’s fabulous beaches are easily accessible by car.
Dinan is one of the best preserved and prettiest towns in Brittany. It sits on a hillside overlooking the River Rance, with its 14th Century Castle and walkable ramparts, half-timbered houses, narrow cobbled streets, art galleries, craft shops and a weekly market.
Dinan has a 15th Century Clock Tower (Tour de l'Horloge). You can climb the 158 steps to the top for magnificent views of Dinan and the surrounding area.
Do not miss the attractive port of Dinan with it's waterside restaurants. The old towpath will take you to Léhon, awarded La Petite Cité de Caractère (Small City of Character), and the 15th-century stone bridge and Benedictine Abbey.
The historic town of Saint Malo and the UNESCO World Heritage site of Mont Saint Michel are about 30 minutes drive away.

We werden hartelijk ontvangen door Jo en Nick, buitengewoon aardig en behulpzaam. Het huis was schoon en comfortabel, ruim voldoende voor zes volwassenen. Alle gemakken voorzien in en rondom het huis. Helaas was het weer matig maar er is een overdekt zwembad , een extra ruimte waar o.a gepoold kan worden en het terrein is ruim genoeg voor andere activiteiten. Ook in de omgeving is er veel bezienswaardig, kortom een fijn verblijf!Comment from Jo Blackman

Restaurants, food & wine
Like all regions in France, Brittany has its own gourmet traditions. The most famous of which is shellfish (fruits de mer) and in particular it's oysters, coquilles St Jacques and mussels. Alternatively, there are other local Breton delicacies that can be enjoyed, crèpes, wines and cider, seasonal produce and typical Breton pastries.

Fishing can be arranged at our own small lake for a charge. The lake is stocked with carp. Any fish caught are to be returned to the lake.

The security deposit is not included in the rental cost and it is requested following final payment. Details will be sent. This will be refunded following satisfactory review of the property on leaving.
The gite is no smoking. Pets are not allowed.
Check in time is after 16.00 on day of arrival. Check out time is before 10.00 on day of departure.
Gite should be left clean as found. The optional cleaning charge is for a general clean. If gite is left an unacceptable state requiring a deeper clean a further charge will be made in addition.
