The house
The house is equipped for up to 6 people. There is enough space and equipment to expand to 8 people.
The rental price is based on a stay up to 6 persons and will be increased by 75 euro per person per week in case of more persons.
On the ground floor:
Hall with the main entrance, toilet and staircase.
Living room:
Approximately 40 m2. with a cosy sitting area , desk, stereo system and wood burning fireplace.
Living/dining kitchen:
Approximately 40 m2. on one side a very well equipped kitchen in U-shape and on the other side a large dining table that offers enough space for 8 people.
Also here is a wood-burning stove.
In the kitchen a 4 burner stove, dishwasher, large fridge with 3 freezer drawers, kettle, coffee maker, oven, microwave and small (electric) appliances.
There is Dutch TV reception via a satellite dish.
The floor of the ground floor is tiled.
On the first floor:
Accessible via a spacious easy going staircase, there are 4 bedrooms and
3 bathrooms. All rooms can be locked separately.
Double bedrooms:
Double bed, wardrobe, sitting area with two chairs, desk with chair.
Private bathroom with spacious shower cabin, two washbasins, toilet, sitting (dressing) bench, laundry basket and the bathroom is fully tiled.
Single bedrooms:
Single bed, each with wardrobe and seat.
These two rooms share a bathroom (lockable) that is located between the rooms and is accessible from the hallway.
The bathroom is fully tiled and has a large shower, washbasin, toilet, sitting (dressing) bench and laundry basket.
These rooms could be used as children's bedrooms for example, a bed or cot can be added.
On the floor there is laminate.
All rooms are tastefully decorated and we expect you to feel at home.
There is a terrace with a large table near the kitchen door with a sunshade, so that you can live outside.

La Berthenoux is a small village 800 kilometres from the centre of the Netherlands. There is a café-restaurant, a Mairie, a post office, a playground with a jeu de boules court and an old church with a little square. At 5 kilometres distance there is a bakery and at 15 kilometres distance there is La Châtre with all kinds of shops and supermarkets. In the Vallée Noire, near the geometric centre of France, with its mainly agricultural culture, there is a friendly, rolling landscape where hills, woods and small villages predominate. Many day trips are possible, picnics at the edge of a lake, visits to larger cities, beautiful gardens, museums and castles. Beautiful and quiet routes can be driven by car or bicycle and many hiking trails. Or see and experience the life of George Sand by visiting her home.

Wij hebben met ons hele gezin een heerlijke vakantie gehad bij Jan en Kee. Het zwembad was heerlijk bij deze tropische temperaturen, het huis comfortabel, smaakvol ingericht en van alle gemakken voorzien. De authenticiteit van de omgeving was indrukwekkend en de persoonlijke en respectvolle aanwezigheid van de gastvrouw en heer was erg prettig. Dank jullie wel voor de leuke reactie op de vakantie in L"Étoile. wij denken er ook nog steeds met veel plezier aan terug. Het was een feest om jullie te mogen ontvangen en zijn blij dat jullie het ook zo ervaren hebben. Alleen die piano hé, maar we doen ons best om hem in orde te krijgen.

Kee en Jan zijn uitstekende gastvrouw/heer. Wij hebben ons prima vermaakt in het huis dat van alle mogelijkheden is voorzien. Het zwembad maakt een verblijf in La Berthenoux compleet. Met onze kleinkinderen konden we tafeltennissen en sjoelen bij wat minder weer.
La Bertthenoux is een plek voor de rustzoekers. In de buurt kun je goed wandelen en fietsen, cultureel vermaak is er in bescheiden mate. Kleine uitrstekende restaurants in de buurt waar je eet voor een prijs waarvoor je in Amsterdam alleen een voorgerecht krijgt. Aanrader dus.Comment from Jan en Kee van der Zanden

Heel fijn bij Jan en Kee. Comfortabel huis met ruimte, ruim geëquipeerde keuken, vele badkamers en een geweldig zwembad. Welkom gevoeld en tegelijkertijd werd privacy gerespecteerd. Boven verwachting! Omgeving lijkt op Frankrijk van vroeger. Aanrader!

Restaurants, food & wine
Like everywhere in France, the Berry offers delicious food, from local dishes to exquisite meals or a repas champêtre or a repas ouvrier.
Often the restaurants have a reasonable "vin de la maison" to great wines from all over France. But there are also vineyards in the area, Loire, Chateaumeillant, Reuilly and Quincy.
Activities
We would like to inform you about the activities taking place in the area at the time of your stay. Concerts, sports activities, folklore, (annual) markets, exhibitions, antique fairs, brocantes, nice places and sights. Maps and route descriptions are available.

Further remarks
Pets are welcome, we have a dog Jolie and chickens. For dogs there is a basket ready, if you want.
The swimming pool of 10x5 m2 with a semi-circular staircase attached, is regularly checked for water quality and is secured according to the strict standards of the French government. It is completely surrounded by a lockable fence. Around the pool is a terrace with chairs, parasol and shelter.
In the fully enclosed garden there is plenty of room to play; badminton, darts, table tennis, jouer aux boules or laze about in the shade of the fruit trees.
The chickens also provide an occasional egg.
Because of the traffic on the French roads in the summer season, we rent from Sunday to Sunday, so you will have less trouble with the traffic jams.
You can use the internet with us.
If you would like to rent the house for a weekend (Friday to Monday morning) or midweek, please inquire about the rates and possibilities.
