The house
The holiday home consists of 2 separate large residences, each with 3 large bedrooms, a bathroom and a kitchen. The houses can be rented separately but through a double door (no sound) the houses can be connected.
This is ideal for large groups, for example a group can sit around the fireplace while the children play games in the other living room. It is also pleasant when 2 families are on holiday together.

- Downstairs 1 spacious bedroom with 2-prs bed (next to the bathroom).

Pets are not allowed in bedrooms and on sofas and chairs !

SURROUNDINGS
The house is located in a quiet wooded area in the French Meuse region about 35 kilometres south of Verdun and 40 kilometres north of Toul, in the town of Varvinay.
From Utrecht ±520 km.
Varvinay is located near the
recreation area Lac de Madine in the nature reserve Parc Naturel Régional de Lorraine.
Fishing enthusiasts can also indulge themselves here. Do you like walking, cycling or horse riding? The forest and the 20 km. long path along the lake offer plenty of possibilities. For a change of scenery, you can make trips to the historical places Verdun, Metz, Toul and Nancy.
THE HOLIDAY HOME
The holiday house is situated on 3.000m2 own land. The small forest next to house A (seen from the road, the left part of the house) is also part of this, as well as the meadow next to house B. In the large garden there is a cable car, swings, slide and seesaw for the children. There is also a campfire place where gathered wood can be burned. From the garden you have a beautiful view of a far stretching meadow landscape with horses and sheep. Along the garden runs a small (shallow) stream.
The house is suitable for two families. Both houses have a living room, kitchen, bathroom and 3 bedrooms. The houses are separated by a double dividing door on the ground floor, which can be closed from both sides, so that the house can also be rented as two separate houses.

Een heerlijke kerstweek doorgebracht in Les Fontaines met z'n 8-en. We hadden beide gites tot onze beschikking, dus lekker veel ruimte en de mogelijkheid om ook even de tussendeur dicht te doen als de kleuter in het gezelschap iets te druk werd. Bij aankomst was het huis erg koud (Henk had ons gewaarschuwd en we waren er op gekleed!), maar met de houtkachels, open haard en gaskachels was het goed warm te stoken. We hebben genoten van de rust en ruimte, en vooral ook de stilte 's nachts. Heerlijk geslapen! Het weer zat niet echt mee, maar op een van de droge dagen toch een lange wandeling kunnen maken om het Lac de Madine, en verder wat korte heen- en weertjes in de directe omgeving. Metz en Nancy waren ook zeer de moeite waard. De inventaris van de gites is fijn compleet, alles is in ruime mate voorhanden. Voor het bereiden van ons kerstdiner misten we alleen een staafmixer en een grote oven. Er zijn 2 combimagnetrons, maar voor het grote diner en het dagelijkse verse brood bakken was dat een beetje behelpen (ja, we zijn nogal verwend...). Al met al hebben we een fantastische week gehad. Een aanrader en voor herhaling vatbaar!

Wij hebben een heerlijke week gehad in jullie bourgondische vakantiehuis. Wij waren met een grote groep en hadden beiden huizen gehuurd, er was genoeg ruimte.
Buiten genoten van de grote tuin en ‘s avonds bij een kampvuur gezeten. De kinderen hadden volop de ruimte om te spelen. Vanuit de tuin een prachtig uitzicht op een weiland waar paarden stonden en meerdere keren roofvogels gespot op zoek naar een lekker hapje te eten.
De Keuken is basic maar prima.
De oven was voor ons gezelschap iets te klein, maar we hebben verder prima kunnen koken.

Wij hebben hier een heerlijke vakantie gehad. Samen met onze 3 kinderen huurden wij één huis, het andere huis werd gehuurd door vrienden met hun 2 kinderen. De omgeving is mooi en in de avond is er van alles aan dieren en insecten te zien, te spotten en te horen. De kinderen hebben zich uren vermaakt in de tuin. In de buurt is het bezoeken van verschillende kleine musea leuk om te doen, zwemmen in Lac du Madine en klimmen in een klimbos. Om de dag vervolgens af te sluiten met spelletjes spelen aan de grote tuintafel en heerlijk BBQen in de prachtige tuin. De communicatie met de verhuurders verliep goed en duidelijk. Dus.....een hele mooie plek en een heel fijn huis om er vakantie te houden!
Restaurants, food & wine
The area has its own wine, which is available in Vigneules. (Furthermore, the area is known for the MIRABELLE (this is a small yellow plum). From this they make, among other things, a kind of gin. In a village further on (La Crue) there is a small beer brewery.
Activities
FACILITIES AROUND LAKE MADINE
Around the lake there are playgrounds, climbing wall, 9-hole golf course, tennis courts, minigolf, bar, restaurant, sailing school and a riding school. Furthermore, sailing boats, surfboards, catamarans, canoes, pedal boats and mountain bikes are for rent.

Drive via Chaillon to Vigneulles and turn left in the village (signposted).
Lac de Madine
As mentioned before, there is something for everyone at this lake. There are 2 entrances
by car to get to the lake: Lac de Madine 1 and 2/3.
Lac de Madine 1 is the largest and here are the most recreational facilities.
You drive via Chaillon (turn right before the telephone box) to Heudicourt. In Hedicourt there are already
signs "Lac de Madine".
Butte de Montsec
This is a huge American war monument, which can be seen from the lake.

Further remarks
PRICES
During all school holidays the rent for the whole house is € 990, - (2 x € 495, =) and outside € 795, - (2 x € 395=) per week. We charge a deposit of € 100,= which will be refunded to you if the house is left neat and clean.
If the house is not rented for a whole week (for example during the generally recognised holidays), a price of € 100,= per day per house will be charged.
For unlimited wireless internet and calls to landlines in the Netherlands we charge € 3.50 per day.

Prices are for the entire property. This is a semi-detached holiday home with 2 separate houses connected by a double door. The possibility of making it one house, but also the possibility of having privacy. Each house has its own facilities (bathroom, TV, kitchen etc. etc.).
- For unlimited wireless internet and calling landlines in the Netherlands, we charge € 3.50 p/day.
- Final cleaning is provided by the caretaker and the fee is € 60 per flat.
- From October to May we charge € 50,= per week for heating costs (firewood) per dwelling.
- Tourist tax is € 1.10 per adult per night. Persons under 18 years are free
