The house

  • Quiet, rural area with some traffic

Less than 6 hours from Utrecht, in the Renaissance village of Châtillon-sur-Saône, is the house of landscape painter Jean Monchablon (1854-1904). This house, situated on the hill, overlooks the valley through which the Apance flows. Both in front and behind there is a fantastic garden. Directly across the street is a large football field. The house is very spacious and is equipped with all conveniences, also for (small) children.

The house has three floors and because the house is built into the hill, the top floor faces the street.
Through the front garden with terrace and dining table you enter the fully equipped kitchen with a wood stove, six-burner cooker with oven and dishwasher. There is also a freezer and washing machine in a separate room. The kitchen is adjacent to the front garden with evening sun, ideal for outdoor dining. At the rear is a spacious balcony along the entire length of the kitchen with a magnificent view over the historic village, the garden and the valley.
Next to the kitchen is a sitting room with wood stove. Here you can read or watch TV (including Dutch channels) on comfortable sofas and chairs.

The sitting room adjoins a very large sitting and dining room with high ceiling, carved fireplace with wood stove and wood carved doors. This room is perfect for a large dinner or endless crafting at the large table.
Next door is a large bathroom with shower and bathtub. There is a separate toilet on this floor.

One floor down are the bedrooms. The first three bedrooms have two beds of 90 by 200 cm. The last bedroom has a bunk bed which is ideal for children. There is also a cot for the smallest children. All rooms are very spacious with French windows overlooking the garden. On this floor is a bathroom with shower and toilet.

The lower floor opens onto the large back garden. Here is a large summer kitchen with a six-burner cooker, oven, microwave and refrigerator. Large French doors lead directly to the garden.
Next to the summer kitchen there is a separate room with a trundle bed (2x) 90 by 200cm. Also on this floor is a separate toilet and "summer shower".

The garden has two terraces and is sloping downwards, giving a nice view of the valley. For the children there is a tree house and a trampoline for endless fun. .
There is also a small inflatable pool.
