Holiday home La Ferme en Tuiles is a centuries-old farm that has been converted into a comfortable holiday home in France with great respect for historical details.
It is situated on the edge of the small hamlet of Chez Ladrat with a view of the fields.
The old farmhouse, where we ourselves lived for 10 years, has been converted to meet today's requirements.
For the colder periods there is a cosy wood stove and/or an oil stove.
You have your own entrance and a yard facing south where you can relax with a view of the meadows, the chicken run, the vegetable garden and the beautiful lime tree.
A fire pit with barbecue can usher in a fine evening under a starry sky.
You also have access to your own parking space.

Een ontzettend mooi huisje, schoon. Met liefde en zorg bij elkaar gezochte spullen. Mooi wijds uitzicht. De huiseigenaren erg vriendelijk. In de omgeving is veel te zien

Quel endroit merveilleux !!! Nous avons passé 10 jours magnifiques au gîte en tuiles. Le site est superbe, une vue exceptionnelle sur la nature, un calme incroyable. Toutes les conditions étaient réunies pour se reposer, se détendre. Et surtout l'accueil chaleureux de Anneguus et Dirk, aux petits soins pour leurs hôtes, toujours de bons conseils.... une belle rencontre.
Le gîte est très confortable, bien équipé et joliment aménagé. On s'y sent bien.
N'hésitez pas, allez-y les yeux fermés !!!!!
Restaurants, food & wine
Limousin, the area in which La Ferme en Tuiles is located, has delicious regional dishes. Several of these dishes consist of "food of nature" including a rich variety of mushrooms such as the Cèpe (squirrel bread) Chanterelles or Truffles . Limousines guarantee delicious beef, there are snails for lovers, many kinds of goat, sheep and cow milk cheese, foie gras, honey, game, duck and walnuts
Pineau is a drink made from cognac and the lees of grapes. This mixture is casked and after a few years has a delicious spicy sweet flavour. But cognac itself can also be found here in all its qualities
From 12pm to around 2am, you can still find delicious traditional food in the area for a small price. Meals generally consist of a starter (meats, salads and eggs) a main course and a dessert. Unfortunately, there is little choice in these kinds of restaurants for people who eat vegetarian. In the more luxurious restaurants (some are very reasonably priced), you can always ask for a vegetarian meal. But delicious things are also made at La Ferme en Tuiles such as our own nut wine and liqueurs, bread with nuts from the walnut tree and goodies from all the plums and other fruits we have in abundance.
Activities
The lovely landscape, also called park landscape, is very suitable for long walks and bicycle tours, the latter for the more experienced cyclist or with an E-bike.
Picnic, fishing and swimming enthusiasts will also find plenty of opportunities at the 2 lakes, 5 and 15 km away. At the lakes you can rent boats and pedal boats and book a horse ride. Canoeing is possible on the Vienne and the Tardoire.
The Charente Limousine is a paradise for birdwatchers, wildflower lovers and stargazing enthusiasts.
For children of all ages, there is an adventure park with all kinds of "self-do" attractions within 5 km.
At a distance of 20 km you will find the internationally renowned golf course La Prèze.
A vélo rail starts in the lovely village of Confolens, but Confolens also has a lot to offer to lovers of Folks festivals. Every year in mid-August a multi-day festival takes place with dance and music groups from all over the world.
For those interested in castles and churches, there is plenty to discover in The Charente Limousin including Chateau de Peyras, Chateau de La Rochefoucauld and the Chateau de Rochechouart. You can visit La Rochefoucauld chateau but there is also a big medieval festival around 21 July. The Chateau de Rochechouart houses a museum of modern art, the castle of Peyras is recommended for a visit with children
Romanesque churches abound including the remarkable little church of Salle Lavaugignon.
Mouzon, the municipality to which "La Ferme en Tuiles" belongs, is located between Limoges and Angoulême.
Both towns have attractive centres with nice restaurants. Angoulême is called the capital of comic strips. This is reflected in the many houses painted with images from famous comics. Limoges has a rich variety of nice shops and a beautiful medieval city centre. You can of course find all the details, including museums et cetera, on the internet.
Near Mouzon, you will find nice restaurants where, especially in the afternoon, delicious and traditional food can be eaten. For the more luxurious appetite, there are some very good restaurants, including a Michelin-starred restaurant.
Do you like antiques and nice markets? Almost every weekend you can indulge in one of the many Vide Greniers or Bric à Bracs (the famous French flea markets).
The regular markets are during the week and sometimes late in the evening during the summer season. On Wednesday mornings you can go to the fun, lively market of Piégut (+/- 25 km) which includes delicious food, live stock, clothing, small-scale brewed beer, knives and potters' stands.
And after a busy day, back at your gîte, you can enjoy the silence, the smell of the lime tree, the cows in the meadow or dream away with a fine book.
Perhaps over a glass of (local) wine or a glass of pineau.

Further remarks
The holiday home is open from 4 pm on arrival. Due to the time we need to clean the holiday home, please leave the house before 10 am on the last day.
For people who want to bring their pets, we have a dog, 2 kittens and the chickens often run loose.
Dogs are kept on a lead in the yard and their needs must be cleaned up.
The bedroom is in the attic, which may be a problem for people with disabilities.
Fires can only be made if it is not too dry. There is a fire ban from the municipality when there is a severe drought.
Due to the septic tank, aggressive cleaning agents may not be used.
Upon arrival, you will find ecological cleaning products in the holiday home.
Additional price info and offers
In the winter season, heating costs are added to the rental price.
There is a wood burning stove and an oil burning stove. You can buy wood or oil from us (or in the supermarket / hardware store) at cost price.
When you arrive, the cottage is pleasantly heated.
If you come by train we can pick you up from Angoulême, we charge €25,- (€50,- return).
