The house
Gite Merlot is a spacious holiday house where up to 8 persons can be accommodated.
There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. A characteristic house with lots of comfort, style, space and luxury.
The gite is about 125m2. On the ground floor you’ll find a big living room with comfortable sofa’s and chairs, a seperate diningroom with a big dining table in the center. A original mantelpiece, a fully equipped kitchen, bedroom downstairs with double bed, bathroom with shower, toilet and sink..
The kitchen is equipped with a large fridge, ceramic stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffeemaker, kettle and toaster. Even a washing machine for clothes is at your disposal.
Central in the house you’ll find the stairs going up to the second floor where you enter a large loft and two more bedrooms.
One bedroom has two authentic classic single beds. The other bedroom has two single beds as well, but these beds can be connected and covered as a double bed on request. On the large open loft there are two more beds. Maximum 8 persons can be accommodated in this Gite Merlot.
The second bathroom is also upstairs with shower, toilet and sink.
There is a big garden (front and backside) with garden furniture and a wooden diningtable with 8 chairs. It gives you the opportunity to pleasantly sit and dine outside on the warm summer evenings. You can do some grilling on the barbecue which is placed on the terrace as well.
The gite is located on the edge of the village in a domain of green lawns, lots of trees and flowers.

It is situated in a charming little French village, called Bussiere Badil, which is part of the nature parc Perigord-Limousine and settled in between the green, blooming hills and valleys of the Dordogne.
We have named our holidayhouses, the gites, “gite Syrah” and “gite Merlot” . These gites are made to offer lots of comfort,
freedom and space to enjoy a good holiday and a bit of the French way of life.
Each morning can start with a fresh croissant…The “boulangerie” (the bakery) is less then 5 minutes walk-
A bottle of wine is ready for you when you arrive. Have a seat on the terrace in the sun and enjoy!
The gites, the holiday houses, are located on the edge of the village in a domain of about 11.000 m2 with green lawns, lots of trees and flowers.
A driveway with big chestnut trees on each side leads to the gites, roses are growing alongside the old garden walls, various trees providing delicious fruits. When they are ready you’re free to take them and taste them. Dining on the terrace outside or on the green lawn, lighting up the barbecue, enjoying a glass of wine and some special French cheeses while watching the sunset….It’s all there to enjoy! The cheerful sound of the birds, or by night, the owls are creating the right “background music”.
A refreshing splash in the small pool is possible whenever you feel like it.
There are sun beds next to the pool to relax.

Restaurants, food & wine
Many wineyards and several winehouses are located around us where you can go, taste and buy the wines ”a la proprieté
Weekly there are local markets where you can buy fresh fruits, local delicacies, bread, cheeses, meat, olives etc. The one in the village of Piegut is well known and attracts lots of visitors each wednesday. It is only 15min drive.
Or you can stroll around on the markets with antiquities, pottery and brocante.
This part of the Dordogne, Perigord-limousine, is famous for its beef, foie gras, duck breasts, cheeses, chestnut products and truffles. You’ll find it on the menu of many local restaurants.
Enjoy it together with the local wines , then surely your culinary experience has come to great satisfaction.
Activities
The unspoilt nature of Dordogne , Perigord, invites you to go out and explore.
There are many, well marked cycling and mountainbiking routes.
We have five hybride bikes with 21 gears free to use for you.
On many location alongside the rivers you can rent canoes and start paddling.
Lake St Estephe is closeby and gives you lots of watersport-facilities.
Also karting, quadbiking, horse riding , playing golf is possible in the vicinity of the holidayhouses.

We are Remco and Gerralda Gilles and we like to welcome you in our holiday houses in France.
In summer we live on a small estate in Dordogne and you can also enjoy a stay in one of our authentic French Gites on the property.

In low season periods it is also possible on request and based on availability to reserve the gite per night.
