The house
Welcome to Les Brugues, an old restored farmhouse, nestled in a picturesque landscape, in the heart of the most beautiful bastide region of the Dordogne!
The gîte has been restored whilst retaining many authentic features, such as wooden beams and exposed stone walls. The gîte can accommodate up to 5 people, ideally 4.
Since 2022, it has been rated 3 stars by the tourist office.
In the garden, you will enjoy a beautiful swimming pool (5 x 10 meters, and depth up to 1,80m), with its terrace, sunbeds, comfortable garden furniture, with a clear view on the forest and the fields.
Beds are made on arrival and towels are ready for you.
The arrival in the courtyard of the property allows you to park one or two cars.
- The entrance is via a private terrace where you can enjoy your meals in privacy. A barbecue/plancha is at your disposal.
- The living room is open to the kitchen which is fully equipped with dishwasher, oven, microwave, Nespresso machine, filter coffee machine, fridge-freezer, table and chairs. The lounge area has a comfortable sofa, TV (with English and French channels) and wifi internet connection.
- There are two bathrooms: one with shower, washbasin, WC and washing machine, and one with bath, washbasin and WC.
- One bedroom with a double bed (140 cm) and a single bed (90 cm) with access to the garden and swimming pool
- One bedroom with a double bed (160 cm) with direct access to the garden and the swimming pool.
- Private garden gazebo where you can also enjoy your meals with a view of the pool.
- The "swimming pool" area is open to the gîte and the owners, but it remains a privileged place where your privacy is respected.

The property is situated on the border of the Dordogne and the Lot-et-Garonne.
You will be 35 minutes from Bergerac, 50 minutes from the chateaux of the Dordogne valley, 10 minutes from the chateaux of Gavaudun and Biron, 25 minutes from the chateau of Bonaguil and the village of Penne d'Agenais, 7 minutes from the village of Monpazier.
The first shops are only 3 minutes from the property, in Biron (bakery, butcher's, market, etc.). You will also find many shops, bars, restaurants and supermarkets in Montpazier (8 minutes), Villeréal (10 minutes) and Monflanquin (12 minutes).
Within a few minutes of the property, you can discover the beautiful Chateau de Biron, as well as numerous bastides and picturesque villages such as Monpazier, Monflanquin, Villeréal and Beaumont. Other places to visit include the medieval towns of Issigeac, Belvès, Eymet, Miramont-en-Guyenne and Lauzun where you will find good restaurants and lively weekly markets.
Bergerac is 35 kms north of the property and Villeneuve-sur-Lot is 30 kms south. Both towns have a wide range of shops, excellent restaurants and markets.

Wij hebben heerlijk genoten van deze geweldige plek. De gite was ruim, van alle gemakken voorzien, schoon en lekker koel tijdens de hitte buiten (terwijl er geen airco aanwezig is). Buiten was alles goed verzorgd, een heerlijke plek om te ontbijten bij het zwembad en ook het grasveld met badminton net viel bij ons in de smaak. Een heerlijke rustige plek in de middle of Nowhere. Maar slechts 10 tot 15 minuten van prachtige dorpjes af. Er is genoeg te doen in de omgeving! Van grotten bezoeken tot een mooie kanotocht. Odile en Alexandre zijn zeer gastvrij! Wij werden ontvangen met een heerlijk flesje wijn en voor de kinderen lekkere limonade. Odile verraste ons nog regelmatig met verse tomaten uit de tuin. Hele lieve mensen, die er waren als je ze nodig had, maar de ruimte geven, zodat je heerlijk je eigen plekje hebt. Een echte aanrader!

Fantastisch paradijselijke plek. Prachtig verzorgd huis et mooie bloemrijke tuin. Alle rust en ruimte om je heen, fluitende vogels, heerlijk zwembadwaar je prima baantjes kan trekken. prettige eigenaren die je alle privacygeven. Omgeving nodigt uit tot verkenning de fiets, wandelend en bezoeken aan de diverse bastide plaatjes. We hebben genoten. Huis is nog mooier dan de foto's laten zien.

We hebben een fantastische vacantie gehad in deze prachtige gite ( van alle gemakken voorzien) in een rustige omgeving & met een heerlijk zwembad. In de buurt zijn veel mooie dorpjes/kastelen e.d. te bezoeken. Odile & Alexandre zijn gastvrije mensen.

The region is a real paradise for food lovers. There are restaurants for all tastes and budgets in the area. You can enjoy excellent lunchtime menus for unbeatable prices.
Every village in the area holds weekly markets where you can buy fresh produce and specialities from the region (foie gras, duck, truffles, fresh fruit and vegetables etc).
Wine lovers will be delighted to be able to taste and buy the wonderful wines of the region directly from the producers: Bergerac, Pécharment, Cahors, Bordeaux and Monbazillac.
Activities
If you want to catch your breath, relax by the pool and read a good book, you've come to the right place.
Here you can enjoy the peace and quiet and experience what it's like to live in the country. The kiosk is the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning, the sound of birdsong, and a glass of wine in the evening, the beautiful starry sky.
If you are sporty, you can also actively explore the surroundings by bike or mountain bike, or go running. You can also go canoeing on the Dordogne.
There are also many hiking trails and you can walk to the Château de Biron through the forest from the house.

Each house has its own private living space.
For wildlife and nature lovers, Les Brugues is a paradise. Deer and wild boar abound. Many birds can be seen in the garden: buzzards, eagles, owls, jays, blackbirds etc. During your walks in the woods you can discover a myriad of wild trees and plants. During May, the surrounding fields are full of an amazing variety of wild orchids. In September/October the surrounding countryside is alive with the sound of stags bellowing. Often, at sunset, you can see these magnificent creatures silhouetted against the horizon.
