The house
Le Mûrier gite has recently been renovated to a high standard with care and consideration for your comfort and enjoyment. The gite has two bedrooms, one with two single beds, which can be converted into a king sized bed and the other with a king size bed. The downstairs living area is light, airy and spacious - the perfect place for you to relax and unwind. There are two sofas, a log burner set into a pretty fireplace and a TV with FreeSat channels. The dining area has a traditional French table and chairs with plenty of space for four people and the kitchen area has everything you need to cook up some tasty meals which can be eaten inside or out. The modern kitchen has an electric fan oven, large fridge/freezer and gas hob, with a microwave, and Dolce Gusto coffee machine. You will find all the equipment you could possibly need in this area, as well as in the beautiful French dresser. The bathroom has a contemporary feel, a rainforest shower and stylish floor and wall tiles. One of the bedrooms has a large built in wardrobe and the other a chest of drawers with hanging space. Both bedrooms have views of the surrounding vines and woodland. Outside of the gite is a private, decked patio area with table, chairs and barbecue. In front of your holiday home is a beautiful Mulberry tree with a dense canopy of large, lush leaves to shelter you as you laze in the hammock beneath. The swimming pool offers a beautiful view of the vines and sunloungers are provided with soft mattresses so that you can relax in peace and comfort after taking a refreshing dip. As one of our recent guests said about their stay: 'it couldn't have been better'. What more could you wish for?

Le Mûrier at Cousserat is situated in a tiny hamlet and nestled amongst beautiful Bordeaux vineyards and woodland areas. It is a quiet, tranquil spot and ideal for relaxing, allowing you the time to rest up and enjoy your holiday. You can sit or lie comfortably on one of the sunloungers next to the swimming pool either basking in the warmth of the sun or shaded by a parasol. The gite is one mile from the local, small village of Soussac which has a café bar that does a great menu du jour and meals to order in the evenings. Pellegrue is less than five minutes away in the car and has a couple of restaurant bars, a supermarket and a boulangerie.

We had a wonderful vacation in de lovely cottage of Penny and Mike. Nice pool, green surroundings and a very warm welcome including some basic groceries! Very recommendable.

Wat een fijn en gezellig huisje! Heel schoon en goed verzorgd, tot in de details. En wat een rust... je hoort het ruisen van de bomen, de vogels en de krekels. Penny en Mike zijn erg aardig en helpen je met van alles. De omgeving is prachtig, zeker als je van wijn houdt ;). We komen zeker nog eens terug!

We hebben hier een fantastische week gehad. Het is een heerlijk huis waarin niets ontbreekt en dat zeer sfeervol is ingericht. De eigenaren zijn enorm vriendelijk en attent. Bij het huis is veel ruimte met verschillende zitjes en een fijn zwembad voor verkoeling. De omgeving is prachtig. Tussen de wijngaarden en op een goede rijafstand van leuke dorpjes en stadjes, Bordeaux en zelfs de Atlantische kust.

Restaurants, food & wine
There are local villages and towns that are anything between 2-30 minutes away that boast a great range of restaurants, one or two of which are Michelin starred. We provide details of all in our gite brochure which we will send to you in pdf format before your arrival and we can help you with reservations if necessary.
The wine and food in this region is amazing! We know some of the local wine farmers and we can organise wine tastings and vineyard tours for you or you can simply explore yourselves by driving around the surrounding area and pulling in at any of the many vineyards to have a taste of the Bordeaux, Entre deux Mers or Bergerac wines.
The French markets are superb and as stated earlier there is one to pick from each day, some small and some large with one of the most famous being at Sainte-Foy-la-Grande just 20 minutes away - look out for the art work here too in the spring and summer months.
Activities
There are a wide range of things to see and do near this beautiful holiday home. For example, we can arrange wine tastings for you or you can explore some of the wonderful places that are both near and a little bit further away such as: The Dune du Pilat on the Atlantic Coast, Bordeaux and Saint Émilion, The gite is only 20 minutes away from the Saint Émilion and Château des Vigiers golf courses. In addition, there is a cycle hire company in Sainte-Foy-La-Grande that delivers bikes to your gite door for a very cost effective price. You can go fishing at nearly lakes and rivers or enjoy a range of water sports including canoeing on the River Dordogne which is only 10 minutes away from the gite. If cycling or walking are your thing, we have some great local routes with maps provided for your enjoyment. Finally, of course, there are all the wonderful French markets to visit and there is one taking place in a different town every day of the week not far away from Le Mûrier.
Penny, your host, is a qualified life and wellbeing coach and psychologist; she offers custom made retreat packages for between 1-6 people. You can choose from a range of activities and do as much or as little as you like. The retreats can include: life and wellbeing coaching; mindfulness practices and meditations; journalling; yoga; relaxation exercises. Contact us if you are interested in a retreat when you book.
