The house
As you walk through the double doors into the bright and airy kitchen, you will find all you need to begin your relaxing holiday. A large, traditional French oak table with rush bottom chairs comfortably seats eight people with room to include a highchair for the youngest member of the group if necessary. A door leads to the back garden which is fully enclosed and private, it has the old bread oven, a rotary washing line and a hammock swings between the fig and linden trees. We have made a gazebo covered dining area with sturdy picnic table and BBQ.
We have equipped the kitchen with all you will need, crockery, cutlery, glassware, cooking knives, pots, pans, dishes and bowls. Also a dishwasher, fridge/freezer, micro-wave oven, kettle, various coffee machines, toaster and a wonderful range style cooker.
Glazed double doors from the kitchen lead to the large lounge. With television, books, games and puzzles, this is the place to relax in comfort. There is a log burner for cooler seasons. French double doors lead out to the front of the house where there is a seating area and parasol.
Beyond the kitchen is the bathroom with separate wc. All towels are provided for you. There is a large shower cubicle plus a bath tub and a double wash basin.
A short flight of stairs leads to the three bedrooms, on the left the king size bed, on the right the French corbeille double bed and further down on the left the twin bedded room. We provide fresh white bed linen for your stay.

This is the best of both worlds, the cottage is in a small village, it is peaceful and quiet, we are surrounded by trees and lakes with woodland walks and two 15th century chateaux nearby which are open for visits.
Cussac, our nearest small town is just 6kms away and is well served with an Intermarché supermarket, a Bricomarché, Pharmacy, Boulangerie, coiffeuse and a couple of bar/restaurants.
The ancient city of Limoges, famed for porcelain, enamel and the old butchers quarter, is less than an hour away. Here you will find award winning restaurants, botanic gardens, gothic architecture, and museums, alongside modern shops. Limoges also has an airport and a rail link to and from Paris.
Whether you want history, picturesque towns and villages with traditional weekly markets, leisure lakes with plenty of activities or just to relax by the pool, our cottage offers it all.

La grenouille verte (De groene kikker): Een heerlijke plek om vakantie te houden. De gîte heeft alles wat er nodig is voor een fijne vakantie. De woonkamer met voldoende plek om gezellig te zitten. TV met satelietontvangst (engels of frans), een DVD-speler met DVD's voor elk wat wils. Inclusief een houtkachel voor de wat koudere dagen/avonden. En een heleboel (meestal engelstalige) boeken.
WiFi is aanwezig maar het bereik beperkt zich meestal tot alleen de benedenverdieping.
De keuken is van alle gemakken voorzien. Koelkast met vriesvak. Een koffiezetapparaat, een espressomachine en een senseo. Verder een magnetron en ook een broodrooster. En dan natuurlijk het geweldige gasfornuis met oven.
Rondom het huis genoeg ruimte om lekker in de zon (of schaduw) te zitten. Naast het huis van de bewoners zelf nog grote tuin met ligstoelen en het zwembad voor privégebruik.
Op de dag van aankomst hebben we (tegen betaling) kunnen genieten van een, door de eigenaren zelf klaargemaakt, heerlijk diner.
In de schuur/garage staat een wasmachine die je mag gebruiken dus je hoeft niet je hele garderobe mee te slepen.
Kortom: Als je tot rust wilt komen ben je hier aan het goede adres!

The living room with enough space to sit comfortably. TV with satellite reception (English or French), a DVD-player with DVD's to suit all tastes. Including a wood stove for the colder days/evenings. And a lot of (mostly English) books.
WiFi is available, but the range is mostly limited to the ground floor.
The kitchen is fully equipped. Fridge with freezer. A coffee machine, an espresso machine and a Senseo. There is also a microwave and a toaster. And then of course the great gas stove with oven.
Around the house enough space to sit in the sun (or shade). Next to the house of the residents themselves, there is a large garden with sun loungers and the swimming pool for private use.
On the day of arrival we were able to enjoy a delicious dinner (for a fee), prepared by the owners themselves.
There is a washing machine in the shed/garage that you can use, so you don't have to carry your entire wardrobe with you.
In short: If you want to relax, this is the place to be!

This is a very relaxing gite to go to. The kitchen is very well equipped and the host also offers to cook for you at your request. The gardens are green and offer shade at different moments of the day. There are walking trails and castles nearby and a lot of information is provided. We also went canoeying on the river Vienne and visited nearby Limoges. If you enjoy a peaceful, quiet holiday, this is absolutely the right place with enough room for everyone and such nice reclining chairs that we decided to get a couple of them ourselves at home as well.

La grenouille verte heeft ons aangenaam verrast. Een heerlijk groot en compleet huis -met zwembad-voorzien van alle gemakken. De eigenaren Ruth & John wonen ernaast en stonden direct klaar als we ergens vragen over hadden. Dit alles samen maakt het dat we hier graag nog eens terugkomen.
Restaurants, food & wine
We have several restaurants nearby and if you are looking for something special the one we would recommend is the Hotel de France in St Pardoux la Riviere. As well as offering a menu du jour during the week, they also have a bistro menu which is excellent for 25€ and on Sundays their menu degustation is a wonderful taste experience for 40€
If you prefer to stay at home, we are happy to prepare fresh meals for you. Many of our guests choose to order a meal for the evening of their arrival, so they can relax and begin their holiday properly with out having to think about shopping or cooking after their journey here. These are some of the comments left in our visitors book; "your cooking is amazing", "absolutely delicious meals", "thank you for our meal on arrival- truly top class"
Activities
In this rural area there are many walking routes, signed and mapped for the serious walker/hiker. There are also more leisurely walking routes around our nearest lake, Masselievre, which is owned by the commune. This also provides coarse fishing, a day permit costs approximately 6€ and there are areas around the lake where it is possible to picnic.
It is possible to arrange bicycle hire for the group. We use Bike Hire Direct who will drop of fully serviced and safe bicycles with all necessary safety helmets. There are a number of voie verte in the area which provide safe and relatively flat cycle paths.

We ask for a 300€ security deposit against damages. This will be refunded after your holiday, when the house has been checked.
In the peak season of July and August we only accept full seven day bookings from Saturday to Saturday. All the rest of the year we accept bookings of a minimum of five nights and start/end days can be flexible.
