The house
This over 275 years old cottage used to be the millers house. Several authentic details give it loads of character.
Downstairs a living room and seperate a diner with open kitchen.
First floor has three bedrooms, one with a double bed and ensuite, there is a shower, a toilet and a sink. One bedroom with a single bed and one bedroom with two singel beds and an esuite. Also this has a shower, a toilet and a sink.
All bedrooms have a vieuw over the island.
In front of the Gite there is a terras equiped with all required furniture. From there you have acces to 20acres of our land. Feel free to room around and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the banks of the river Tardoire.
There region offers you lots of options if you like a active holiday.

This part of the Haute Vienne is full of green rolling hills with water all around in the form of small lakes, streams and rivers. About 60% consists of agricultural land the rest is mixed woodland. Herds of the famous Limousin cows can be found everywhere.
The mill " le moulin the la Barbarie" is situated in the national parc "Perigord-Limousin". This parc is a nature reserve with lots of rear and protected animals and plants to discover.

Een heerlijke plek: een groene oase van rust. Lana en Arnoud zijn hartelijk en gastvrij. Met warm weer zijn er in de grote (gezamenlijke) tuin altijd schaduwplekken. En het zwembadje biedt natuurlijk verkoeling. Er zijn zwemmeren met een strandje, op 10 min rijden en 20 min rijden afstand. De omgeving en de dorpjes zijn rustig en niet toeristisch. Heerlijk relaxte vakantie gehad.

Een vakantie gehad om aan terug te denken. Heerlijk rustig gelegen. Mooie plek in een geheel door bos omsloten terrein. Stromend riviertje. De ligging van het huis is perfect, In de ochtend schaduw zodat je lekker buiten kan eten en in de avond ook weer schadusw zodat je de BBQ kan aansteken zonder dat de zon je wegbrand tijdens het eten.
Het huis heeft een uitgebreide keuken met veel gerei.

There are several pubs and restaurants in the area. During the summerseasion several farmers markets and fairs offer the option of enyoing the local products and foods.

Walking/Biking
Several marked walking routes, biking and mountainbiking routes are set through the region.
Geo-catching routes are present.
From the closeby town Oradour sur Vayres an old railwaytrack brings you to Chalus. This route has been asphalted and is a great way to ride your bike, skeeler or walk along. On the route is a old station than houses a restaurant with terras to enjoy a well deserved rest.
Fishing.
There are ample fishing opportunities in the Haute Vienne. If you apply for the fishing permit you can fish in several lakes and rivers. Also you can try to catch the rainbow trouts from the river Tardoire on our terrain.
Swimming.
There is a small swimpool ( 3,5 by 4 mtr and 160 cm deep) on the island. Also the river is great for kids to play in and refresh on a hot day. Please be aware that there is a lot of shallow water on our terrain. Small children have to be guarded by their parents if they want to play in the river or the swimmingpool. Several guarded swimlakes are available trougout the region.

Further remarks
If interested we would like to show you the former mill. Up to recent the mill produced electricity for our own use, the mill provided electricity for a clothing factury in the past.
Internet is available but only on a limited scale. We offer you free WiFi but the connection is shared with all habitants and will not be verry fast. Your mobile phone will likely have a limited signal strength.

Included in the price is one time use of the general laundry machine.
We asume that you leave the Gite the same way as you found it, clean and tidy. Dirty bedsheets should be posted in the laundry basket.
Final cleaning is compulsory and the price is €70,00
