The house
Wibble’s Retreat offers you a converted two storey barn including beams and character, with modern convenience in a comfortable and fully furnished home. Electric radiators and underfloor heating is available for the winter months only, from October to February.
There is exclusive use of the 8x4 swimming pool, which is open between April and October, weather permitting. Please note that the garden is shared with the owners.
Wibble’s is the perfect home for your holiday, house hunting or while visiting family/friends in the Vienne region of South West France.
Downstairs, there is a fully fitted modern kitchen, cloakroom, large dining room and French doors to the terrace with a table and 4 chairs, also a barbecue. The upper terrace, accessible by steps leads to the garden and swimming pool
Upstairs there is a double bedroom with en-suite shower room, a twin bedroom, family shower room and very spacious living area with 2 sofas. There is a stair gate available if required, however, the gite is better suited for children aged 6+.
Only guests on the booking form are allowed to use our property, if you invite other guests to stay without our permission, we will terminate the rental without compensation.

Wibble’s Retreat is situated on the edge of a picturesque village, located in the beautiful rural area of south west France, where you can walk freely across field pathways and/or cycle on quiet lanes and take riverside walks with open grassed areas.
The village has a 12th century church, free use of a tennis court and boules/pétanque pitch, basketball hoop and football goal post.
There are two supermarkets within 4kms, also just 6kms away is the market town of Civray, which has a twice weekly market, boulangeries and restaurants.
We are also close to many tourist attractions, such as Verteuil-sur-Charente and it's stunning Chateau, the man-made beach & water park near Angouleme, the theme park "Futuroscope' and old city of Poitiers, or the lovely beaches at Saint-Palais-sur-Mer and La Rochelle, perhaps a fun day out at La Vallée des Singes, the list is quite endless.

We have just had the most wonderful 2 weeks away staying at Wibbles Retreat. It’s a gorgeous gite, super clean, well equipped, beautifully furnished and a idillic setting! Heated pool was lovely and kept all the family happy . Thank you Sandie and Rob for a most enjoyable stay and for being such lovely hosts, Evie will miss your lovely dog ‘Del boy’, I think she would have happily smuggled him back home.
If we are in your part of France again, we will most definitely be back.

Rob and Sandie are very warm and welcoming. They go every step to make your stay comfortable and satisfying. The house is very spacy, and well equipped in all aspects. The village is very quiet, and nature is all around, exactly what we were looking for. But supermarkets are only 4 km away for the necessary food and supplies. Extremely positive recommendation for anybody looking for a quiet but comfortable vacation..

Restaurants, food & wine
We highly recommend two restaurants in Nanteuil en Vallee, the Auberge de l'Argentor and the Auberge Saint Jean. We can also recommend the O City’ven restaurant in Civray, also the Hotel du Commerce.
If you enjoy fresh pastries for breakfast, there are three boulangeries within a short drive, at Civray, Savigné and Charroux. There are also excellent café’s in Civray and Charroux for breakfast or lunch, also pub style meals offered at The Green Man in Charroux.

Please note that we have a strict no smoking policy in the gite and the swimming pool, including the decking area.
The property is also not suitable for youth groups.
There is an in internal steep staircase and stone steps from the patio to the garden.
