The house
Our very comfortable gite, renovated with love and craftsmanship, is ideal for people who want to enjoy peace, space, privacy and nature. The silence is still audible here, the healthy air tangible. The woods and fields with all shades of green, brown and yellow - depending on the season - are visible from the three terraces on three sides of the easily accessible, ground floor gite with the spacious dimensions of a loft.
Your privacy is completely guaranteed.
In the morning coffee on the terrace on the east side, then in the afternoon on the south terrace under the grapevines and finally in the evening enjoying the sunset until late in the evening in the west. Under the roof, the heat remains there for a long time, so that even in the early and late season, sitting outside for a long time is possible.
The luxurious gite has a complete kitchen with oven, microwave, large fridge, dishwasher, electric cooker, kettle, coffee maker, TV and wifi. Furthermore, there are comfortable new beds of 2.00 by 1.80 m (2.00 by 90, if desired), a separate toilet and bathroom with walk-in shower and washbasin.
Right next to the gite there is a private parking space so that loading and unloading luggage and shopping is very easy. Through the spacious French doors you can step on the south terrace.

La Quintou is situated in a beautiful spot in the Bouriane, an area between Cahors, Bergerac and Sarlat, where time has stood still and the hectic world is far away. Five years ago we ourselves got acquainted with this area that strongly reminded us of the hilly landscape in South Limburg, but then a lot bigger....Because peace, quiet and nature are also very important to ourselves, we have designed the light and modern gite especially for two people (although the space is over 80m2). We have also deliberately not built a swimming pool, but there is e.g. on three sides of the detached gite a terrace from which you have a splendid view on green hills and forests. With some patience and luck you will see deer, wild boar, foxes and badgers. Buzzards, kites and falcons are regular visitors.

La Quintou lies between two famous wine regions. Southeast are the vineyards of the Cahors wines while northwest are the Bergerac wines.
Many wine houses can be visited. Both on the chic chateaux as on the family farms information is lovingly given, wine can be tasted and bought.
Activities
La Quintou is ideally suited to those looking for peace and quiet, nature lovers, walkers, golfers and cyclists. And also if you like photography or painting of beautiful nature or Romanesque churches and picturesque villages, you will feel at home here. And did you know that every year an inspiring singing week is organised by a Dutch singing teacher, during which every morning a rehearsal is held in one of the many Romanesque churches in the vicinity and the week is concluded with a concert?

Further remarks
Culture and history lovers will also get their money's worth here. After all, this is the area where the Hundred Years' War was once fought and the many beautiful bastide towns, castles and picturesque villages are impressive witnesses of this period. The castles of Bonaguil, Biron, Castelnaud and Baynac are well worth a visit, with Biron hosting a wonderful art exhibition every summer - as an annex of Fondation Maeght from Saint-Paul-de Vence. And who does not know Chateau Milandes, where Josephine Baker lived for many years with her 12 foster children, and where now a fascinating exhibition about her and her time is on display.
The village of Les Arques is internationally known as the home of the sculptor Zadkine, who lived here for a long time and set up a foundation that enables artists to live and work here for a few months every year. Zadkine's works can be admired in the museum and in the church.
Garden lovers will be in their element here. We ourselves always enjoy the gardens of Marqueyssac, a beautifully laid out boxwood garden and wild plants, situated high on a rock from where there is a magnificent view of the Dordogne river with the castles of Castelnaud, Beynac, Fayrac and Lacoste. Also special are Les Jardins du Manoir d' Eyrignac, laid out in the 18th century and generally considered to be one of the most beautiful gardens in France, as well as the Jardins d'eau near Carsac, an area of 3 hectares to enjoy the scents and colours of many special water flowers.
Of particular note are the many medieval towns and villages in the area and the rivers Dordogne and Lot (with opportunities for boating, canoeing, swimming and fishing), both within half an hour's drive.

On the day of arrival you are welcome from 16.00 hours. On the day of departure we ask you to leave the gite at 10.00 at the latest.
The cost of the compulsory final cleaning is € 60. We assume that you will leave the gite tidy upon departure.
Bed linen, towels, kitchen linen and energy costs are all included.
We do not ask for a deposit because we assume trust.
