The house
On the ground floor of our Catalan villa we rent out 2 gîtes, both suitable for 2 persons, directly at the swimming pool.
Each gîte has a spacious bedroom with a large double bed (180 x 200), a living room with open kitchen and a bathroom with sink, shower and toilet. Each gîte has its own entrance with private terrace through large sliding terrace doors and is directly situated on the ground floor at the garden with swimming pool (10 x 5m) and outdoor kitchen. There is a spaciously laid out Mediterranean garden with palm trees, vines and fruit trees. There is also a sun terrace with sun beds, a tennis court and a jeu de boules court.

Mas l'Arcadie is located at the edge of the village of Tordères (150 inhabitants) and has a magnificent view of the vineyards and the Pyrenees. In the distance you can even see the Mediterranean Sea.
In the vicinity are many castles (the Cathar region), fortresses (including Villefranche de Conflent) and abbeys (Abbaye Saint-Martin-du-Canigou).
At 12 km lies Céret, an atmospheric old town known for its Musée d'Art Moderne (a.o. works of Picasso) and the typical Catalan feasts. On Saturday there is a nice weekly market.
In half an hour's drive you are at the coast. Banyuls and Collioure are well-known seaside resorts.
Beach lovers go to Argeles-Plage with its 7 km long sandy beach or St. Cyprien.
Just across the border in Spain lies Figueres with its famous Dalí Theatre Museum and the seaside resorts of Cadaqués and Port Lligat, also known for their many Dalí memories.
City tip: Girona is 1 hour away and Barcelona 2 hours by car.
In short, the region is ideal for people who are looking for peace and nature and is perfect for making trips.

Een heerlijk begin van onze vakantie. We werden heel gastvrij onthaald door Monique en Jan in hun prachtige Mas L’Arcadie. We waren al verliefd op de Mas op de foto maar in het echt is ‘t nog mooier. Alles tot in de puntjes verzorgd. Overal is en wordt aan gedacht en het is er superschoon!
Monique en Jan voelen perfect aan wat je wensen zijn en zijn altijd bereid tot een praatje of om je van een advies te voorzien.
We hebben een bijzonder gezellige tijd bij hen doorgebracht!

we hebben het in Mas l`Arcadie uitstekend naar onze zin gehad, Monique en Jan zijn uitstekende gastvrouw en -heer met de juiste balans tussen privacy in acht nemen en attent en behulpzaam zijn, hun zeer uitgebreide infomap over streek en omgeving en "things to do" kwam ons heel goed van pas met ook nog extra aanvulling van Monique, we vonden het ook een hele mooie plek met prachtig uitzicht en een riant zwembad voor onze neus; vanuit deze plek kun je ook prima fietsen zij het dat je niet overal een fietspad tegenkomt en dat aanduidingen daarvan soms erg merkwaardig zijn en soms gewoon weer ophouden, al is het "appartement" niet zo groot; alles wat je nodig hebt is aanwezig en buiten is het heerlijk relaxen met heel veel privacy en hoor je voornamelijk de vogels. zonder meer aanbevolen, een geweldige plek; daarom boekten we ook nog maar wat dagen bij. Jan en Monique: zeer bedankt voor onze mooie dagen bij jullie.

Restaurants, food & wine
There are many good restaurants in the area, often with local specialities.
Fruits de Mer, oysters, simple or exclusive dining, we are happy to advise you!
There are also plenty of sweet delicacies. For dessert we can warmly recommend the "Crema Catalana".
Tordères is situated against the slopes of Les Aspres, in the heart of the Côtes du Roussillon wine region.
The A.O.C.'s of the Roussillon are delicious wines. Almost every village has a wine tasting.
Also "les vins doux naturels" (sweet dessert wines) such as Rivesaltes and Banyuls are typical Mediterranean wines.
If you like good wine, you will be spoiled here!
Activities
Walking and cycling is possible directly from the cottage in the hills or in the mountains.
In the gîte are several routes and maps available of the area.
The tennis court is free for guests of Mas l'Arcadie (you can use our tennis rackets and balls).

Further remarks
Until the end of May, we have flexible arrival days and the minimum stay is 4 nights.
The price per night is then 110 euros (including linen and towels).
From June to September, the arrival day is Sunday.
This way you don't have to travel on busy Saturdays.
It is much quieter on French motorways on Sundays (no freight traffic).
If you still want to travel in 2 or even more days, we have great places to stay the night en route.

Tourist tax is 0.69 € per person per night.
For 1 week (2 people in the gîte), this comes to 9,66 € per week.
