Roquecor is an 11th century fortress on a hilltop. It is an attractive village with a supermarket for basic necessities, 2 cozy restaurants/cafés. On Sunday morning there is an active market in Roquecor with regional specialties. Various festivities take place during the holiday season.

In Roquecor there is also a tennis court that visitors to Les Garosses can use for free. There is also "boulodrome" where you can play "jeu de boules". There is a playground for small children. Boules available at our property.

Just outside Roquecor is the hotel-restaurant Château de l’Hoste for a “haute-cuisine” dinner. L’Hoste also has Restaurants for all taste buds and budgets can be found in the immediate vicinity.

Montaigu-de-Quercy is 7 km from Roquecor. It is a pleasant and lively village with a range of shops, a doctor, dentist and pharmacy and a bank. There is a traditional French market on Saturdays. You will also find the Tourist Office in Montaigu. A lot of info is available in the "gite". Of course we are happy to help you with "insider" tips.

    Beste,
Hier zijn geen woorden voor en toch probeer ik:
Mooi, rustig, vriendelijk, netjes, hulpzaam, gezellig, top ligging, mooie streek, alles aanwezig. Maar bovenal twee topmensen die je altijd proberen te helpen met jouw vragen en meer dan dat.

Activities

Children:
There is a small lake with a beach and toys for children in Montaigu (6 minutes). There is a small water park 15 minutes from Roquecor and a large water park a 25-minute drive away at Agen.

Les Garosses is located in a lively region. There are concerts and (flea) markets every day. The region has a rich history with beautiful Romanesque churches and beautifully restored villages (such as Roquecor) and cities. The wider environment of Roquecor is also known for the oldest known resident history of Europe. There are several caves with beautiful rock drawings.

Larger places in the area are Agen, Villeneuve sur Lot, Montayral, Lauzerte, Monflanquin and Montcuq. Toulouse, which we call the “Paris of the South”, and Albi, the city of Toulouse-Lautrec, is a 45-minute drive away. Bordeaux is just over an hour away; definitely worth it.

The biggest claim to fame for this region is its Foie Gras. There is even a museum dedicated to it (in Souleilles near Frespech).

The Cahors is a delicious regional wine. It is often combined with another regional specialty: duck. There are various options for visiting wine chateaux. Local winegrowers are also present at the various markets.

Tarn-et-Garonne, and especially the area around Agen, is known for its plum cultivation (Prunaux d’Agen).

The region is a popular stop for hikers to Santiago de Compostela. For hikers with less ambition there is a booklet with shorter walking routes in the gite.
For the horsemen there are 2 riding schools (centers d’équestre): one in Saint Beauzeil (4 km.) And one in Bourg de Visa (8 km.). There are various 9 and 18-hole golf courses in the area. Water sports are possible in Saint Sylvestre (10 km), including canoeing or an (independent) trip on the River Lot. Parachuting is possible just outside of Montaigu-de-Quercy.
