The house
Before you start: We have always been very meticulous about cleanliness; we take your health seriously in order to ensure your security and ease of mind.
We feature a covered, heated pool, which allows you to enjoy it when it is too cool for outside pools to be comfortable. Whatever the outside weather - and nowadays, it is difficult to predict! - you can count on jumping into the pool! It is heated from end of March to the middle of November.
La Bellazière is a fully restored 200-year-old cottage, set at the end of a long path, surrounded by hills and fields. Three bedrooms upstairs accommodate six guests very comfortably. A swimming pool has been built in the adjoining former barn, which also features a comfortable one-bedroom apartment for two with ensuite bathroom, and kitchenette. The house and apartment are always rented together, so guests can be assured of their privacy.
The recent restoration kept the house's character. The thick stone walls are intact, and the home features beautiful oak beams and an elegant granite fireplace. It is located near Le Mans (home to the world-famous 24-hour race), an about two and a half hours' drive from Paris, and closer even to the coastal towns of Brittany and Normandy,( The Mont St Michel, D-Day landing beaches), and a direct train from Le Mans takes you right to Disneyland Paris!
The house gets plenty of sunlight and faces a recently planted little orchard. It is surrounded by fields of wheat, corn and pasture. Two outside decks provide plenty of space to sit outside, in the sun or in the shade of the awning and enjoy different views of an unspoilt countryside.
The main house is spacious and tastefully furnished. The living/dining area includes a dining table for eight and a sofa with a TV and DVD player, and a large (decorative) fireplace. A den in the back has a sofa and a table to play cards and games for children.
The downstairs also has a bathroom with a shower, basin and toilet, with the washer and dryer. A cot and highchair are provided for young children.
The hand-crafted oak staircase leads to the three spacious bedrooms upstairs, one with a double bed and two with two single beds. A second bathroom features a shower, basin and toilet and there is an adjoining half-bath if the main bathroom is occupied...
In the converted barn, the two-person apartment has one double bed in a large floor-level bedroom. It opens onto one of the terraces and faces south-west. It includes a small kitchen and a bathroom with a shower, toilet, and basin.
The parking area, close to the house, will accommodate two or three cars easily. You will be personally welcomed and someone is always available for help if requested.

La Bellazière is located on very private grounds, (no close neighbors, perfect calm!) near the very small village of St Germain de Coulamer.. A wider range of shops and services is available within a fifteen-minutes’ drive.
Activities are plentiful : whether you are interested in the outdoors or historical sites - hidden local gems or world-famous-, intense physical activities, or pure contemplation of unspoilt nature...we have it for you!
Check the close-by Lake of Sillé-Plage and its man-made beach for swimming and other water sports. Safe and very popular with families. Les Alpes Mancelles is reputed nearby for its rugged natural beauty and picturesque villages, and offers rock-climbing and kayaking.
Local towns also have open-air markets each week.
We are ideally located to explore “Le Grand Ouest” (Western part of France). Day-trips in different directions will take you to Brittany or the Normandy coast to visit the spectacular Mont St Michel or the D-Day beaches, or to Monet’s famous Giverny, the breath-taking cathedral of Chartres or, heading South, the Chateaux de la Loire and the first vineyards. For racing and sports fans, the city of Le Mans has held the world famous 24-hour car race each year since 1923 and from there, a direct train will take you to Paris and to Dysneyland!
But do spare some time to stroll along our well-maintained country paths, smell the wild flowers or pick blackberries, you won’t regret it!

As a single father with 3 kids in different ages, the space of the house, the amount of rooms/beds, equipement of the house and above all the separate swimming pool was more than great for us all. Secluded, if you look for privacy, space, there is enough. Hygiëne was fine, pool was as spotless as can be, the double bathroom came in handy, and above all, contact with the owners was great and direct. Including thinking along for things to do in nearby area. Would recommand to all and reconcider returning.

We had such a lovely stay at this holiday home! It was so cosy and comfortable for us and the 2 kids. They loved their bedrooms, so spacious for a party of 6. The underfloor heating was a real treat on the stone floor.

Restaurants, food & wine
Some local recommendations, more choice in near-by Alençon, Laval or Le Mans (we do have a one-star Michelin restaurant in Mayenne!).
The area is known for its quality local products, like country chickens, and fresh milk products : farm milk and lots of fresh cream!
The first vineyards are only a little over an hour drive (discover the under-rated Côteaux du Loir!) while the more renowned Loire Valley can be reached in less than 2 hours

We have a very detailed website, listing all activities and visits in the area and it will let you plan your trip easily, with suggestions about what to do within an hour, an afternoon, or longer. The area is rich in beautiful villages, chateaux and rivers and boasts pre-historic, Roman and medieval sites which you will be surprised to discover, as La Mayenne is i a well-guarded secret!
Additional price info and offers
For stays of a week or more : Electricity, gas, water, and wifi are included, as well as heating costs when necessary . All linen is provided and final cleaning is included. The house is open year-round, but the pool will be heated from March 23rd to the middle of November, with a minimum temperature of 26°/27°C. (Only one optional supplement : Large pool towels can be rented separately for €3/each)
For short breaks : Linen is optional, and the charge is 13€/person for bed linen and 3€/person for towels. If you rent the linen, we'll furnish kitchen towels and a table-cloth for the dining-room. Short breaks are available until July 15 and after August 26, please ask!
The €500 security deposit will be returned at the latest during the week following your stay after the property has been checked. On request, a cot and high chair can be provided.
A number of essentials are provided (toilet paper, soap, oil, vinegar, salt, coffee, tea,) and the custom is to replace whatever is used for the next renters.
