The house
Most castles have a "look-but-don't-touch" policy. Not with us, we want to surprise our guests with little things that make a big difference. For families with children as for couples, our Château is an ideal base for a holiday in the Vendee. We live by the simple things in life that give you a smile. With our personal approach and eye for small details, we try to make you feel at home. Whether it's unexpected surprises for your children or an extra touch of romance for yourself. We offer a unique experience at an affordable price to create an unforgettable holiday.
Ideal for family holidays is the privatisation of the castle wing. This gîte (144 m²) of character that will be completely private is very comfortable. It can accommodate 4 people in 2 bedrooms. It is located in a wing of the castle and has its own independent entrance.
On the ground floor:
A living room of 57m2, granite tiles and beams against the ceiling with a beautiful view of the moat. Next to this living room is the kitchen which is fully equipped with a fridge, freezer, oven, electric cooker, dishwasher, coffee machine....
After a shared staircase, you arrive on the first floor:
A private corridor connecting two large rooms. Both with breathtaking views of the moat and vineyard. Complete privacy in a special part of the castle. A very large double bedroom connected to the castle tower where you will find your luxurious private bathroom with freestanding bathtub, large separate shower and toilet. Further down the corridor is the second bedroom with a luxury adjoining bathroom with shower and wc.
One floor further down is then another common corridor that again connects two spacious bedrooms.

Detailed description of the rooms;
Chambre "1100": This lovely spacious room of 24m2 has an enchanting view. From a cosy sitting area you can see the moat on one side and the vineyard on the other. The room has a private bathroom of 18m2, located in the tower.
* Bedroom with a comfortable double bed (160cm x 200cm).
* Private bathroom in the tower (connected to the bedroom), freestanding bath, large shower, toilet and hairdryer.
Room "1350" is named after the first inhabitants of this Château, the Boux family, who lived here for many generations for 110 years. Jean Boux was the first seigneur (lord) de la Preuille. This 18m2 room has a beautiful view over the canal. Enjoy the early morning from an armchair and discover bird life on the water.

In the middle of nature with 8 hectares of land surrounded by vineyards and close to everything. Discover the creative city of Nantes go a day to the beach or visit the theme park "Puy du Fou". There is so much to discover in our area.
For example:
Machines de l’île: A hidden treasure, in one of the most vibrant cities in France. Les Machines de l’île with its masterpieces of creativity based on the stories from Jules Verne. Visit the gigantic atelier, ride a 12-meter high elephant or ride a stunning carousel, with a 360 degrees decor of incredible sea sculptures. This spot is definitely something you would tell your friends and family. An experience you have to see to know. Location: Parc des Chantiers in Nantes. Opening hours from 10:00 – 17:00 (in the summer until 19:00).
Creative Nantes: The 6th largest city in France, but different from any other French city. Known for its creativity, home of Jules Vernes. The inhabitants are relatively young, the city seems occupied by students. That’s why you will discover a terras on nearly every corner, cozy bars and restaurants abundantly. But also a gym in an old warehouse, hidden shops or just strolling along the river Loire. Watch the many creative signs above most shop doors. Visit the big castle, probably the only castle in the world with a giant slide for kids. Nantes center is 24km from our Château.
Puy du Fou: France second largest Themepark after Disneyland Paris, and what a beauty! This is not your average park, this is a giant spectacle of 26 different shows. Each lasting about half an hour with thousands of performers. The main show hosts the largest stage in the world. It received the Hall of Fame award in 2017 in Orlando US and attracts more than 2 million visitors a year. This is a great day to spend with your kids. Open from April to November. 40km from our Château. And…the history of our Château is exactly in line with the theme of this Park, so your experience will be definitely extended.
Cycle the Vendee region, with 1800km of bicycle tracks. Enjoy the landscape of this beautiful region at your own pace. Take a picknick with you and choose your own view.
At 11km from the Château, you can have an adventure day at Gétigné Canoë Kayak. Book a tour for 1 hour, 2 hours, half a day or a full day. But be aware you will get wet!

Prima gite, grote woonkamer, zeer complete keuken ruim voorzien van alles wat je nodig hebt. Slaapkamers erg groot 1 met een hele ruime badkamer, andere met een kleinere badkamer maar is goed te doen. Het enige wat wij als negatief ervaarde was dat er op de begane grond geen toilet was je moest iedere keer naar je eigen badkamer voor je toilet bezoek. Heerlijk zwembad met genoeg ligbedden en een lekkere temperatuur.

Wat een super Gite!
We zaten gevestigd midden in het middeleeuws kasteel, wat een pracht locatie! We waren van te voren sceptisch hoe het er in het echt uit zou zien vergeleken met de foto's. Ik kan u verzekeren, het ziet er inderdaad zo sfeervol uit als de foto's je vertellen. Het zijn kamers vol sfeer en karakter. Na een goede nachtrust is het ook heerlijk wakker worden met de gordijnen open en een bakje koffie in de hand.
De locatie is ideaal om tot rust te komen, je vermaakt je prima op het landgoed zelf. Daarnaast kun je op pad gaan om de naastgelegen plaatsjes te ontdekken, zoals Nante of Clisson. Wij zijn ook twee dagen naar het strand gegaan om lekker bij te bruinen, voor ieder dus wat wils.
De gastheer en -vrouw zijn super aardig en staan altijd voor je klaar. Ook mega fijn dat ze vloeiend frans en nederlands spreken, ze kunnen dus elk restaurant voor je reserveren, altijd handig! We hebben super genoten van ons verblijf!

But what makes this region really special? Bustling Nantes, known for its creativity and innovation, has a hidden treasure called Les Machines de l'Ile. Here you will find amazing machines and creations based on Jules Verne's stories, including a 12-metre-high elephant and a carousel with an incredible underwater world décor. An experience you won't soon forget!
Just 40 km from our castle, you will find France's second largest theme park, Puy du Fou. Here you will experience 26 historical shows every day that feel like you are watching a Hollywood movie. In between, you can stroll through the various villages and score great souvenirs. A great day out for all ages, and extra special because the theme of the park fits perfectly with the history of our castle.
And what about the endless beaches just 70 km from our castle? From Plage Pornic in the north to Les Sables d'Olonne in the south, here you will find the widest and most beautiful beaches in France. Moreover, this region has the most hours of sunshine per day in the whole of France, giving it the nickname "Côte Lumière". An ideal destination for a day out in the sun!
But there is so much more to discover in our area. Hidden shops, cosy bars and restaurants, and a gym in an old warehouse. Or take a walk along the Loire River and admire the city's special details. In short, this region is the ideal destination for an unforgettable holiday or weekend break. Come and enjoy all the beauty the Vendée has to offer!

Further remarks
When we met, we decided to live an exciting life, do things differently, live life to the fullest. From an implusive marriage on a sunny beach to raising our four amazing children abroad. Making things ourselves instead of buying off the shelf or baking sandwiches over a campfire instead of, choosing from the menu.
In 2019, we fell in love with Château de la Preuille. Our dream is to make this castle a fun, exciting and magical place where families and romantic couples feel at home.
Since we have four children ourselves, we know what it takes to give them a great experience (but of course also for yourselves).
We welcome our guests the way we want to live ourselves. Every stay should be unforgettable, for our guests and also for us.
