Restaurants, food & wine

In this region around Grasse you will be spoilt for choice if you are a wine and food lover. In the village there is a good pizza restaurant and nice terraces, but there are better restaurants where you will be enchanted by the Provencal cuisine. Dining like a star is possible in La Bastide Saint Antoine with Jacques Chibois.

Activities

The sun-drenched French Riviera is known for its sun, sea, beach and cosmopolitan resorts such as Saint Tropez, Cannes, Antibes and Nice. The sites of the Cote d'Azur mentioned below are not to be missed.
1. Nice, largest city of Cote d'Azur
Nice is the largest city on the Côte d´Azur. Visit the flower market, stroll along the Promenade des Anglais and enjoy the panoramic view from the castle hill. The range of museums is also overwhelming. Be sure to visit the Musée Matisse, which is located in the house where the painter resided for much of his life. In the museum you will find the largest permanent collection of his works.
2. Cannes, city of the film festival
Marvel at the expensive yachts and feel like a movie star on Boulevard de la Croisette, the famous boulevard of Cannes. The Palais des Festivals is also located here, where the prestigious Cannes film festival takes place every year. From Cannes you can visit the islands of Île Saint-Marguerite, where the ancient Fort Royal and Saint-Honorat are located.
Monaco, entertainment in Monte Carlo
The principality of Monaco, which is an independent mini-state, also belongs to the Côte d´Azur area. Visit the magnificent Palais Princier Palace, the personal residence of the Head of State of Monaco and his family. The changing of the guard takes place around noon. Try your luck in the Monte Carlo Casino, the most famous casino in the world. The annual Monte Carlo Grand Prix is seen by racing enthusiasts as one of the top events of the year.
Saint-Tropez
If there is one place on the Côte d´Azur that symbolizes the mundane life of this coastal region, it is Saint-Tropez. This chic coastal town attracts owners of expensive cars, motorbikes and yachts. Stroll along the golden-yellow sandy beach, along the atmospheric marina and settle down at a delicious (fish) restaurant in this seaside resort. The narrow streets, beautiful squares and La Citadelle complete the ideal holiday picture.
5. Antibes
After Saint-Tropez, Cannes and Monaco, the city of Antibes is the most visited place on the Côte d´Azur. It is an attractive city with a beautiful old town, the very expensive marina Port Vauban and, according to many, the most beautiful beaches in the region. Don't forget to visit the Picasso Museum in Château Grimaldi. Here you can view almost two hundred works by this artist.
6. Coastal walk Les Goudes - Cassis
Lonely beaches and wild rocky coasts; the GR98 hiking trail leads along the unspoilt part of the Côte d´Azur. Almost 2 kilometers deep bays adorn a 28 km long limestone massif. Bring binoculars; many special birds live in this area.
7. La Route des Crêtes
This beautiful, high coastal road runs from Cassis to La Ciotat and leads 17 kilometers along a surrealistic moon landscape with as a climax the highest rocks in France. The Grande Tête (399 meters) is the highest rock of the Côte d´Azur.
