The Côte d’Azur is one of the few places in the world where you can ski in the morning and spend the afternoon on the beach. Here, where the Alps meet the Mediterranean, the landscape ranges from steep gorges and spectacular mountain passes to lavender fields and stunning coastal roads stretching from St Tropez to Menton. And Lou Messugo is ideally placed to make the most of all this. There is so much to do!
BEACHES & COAST:
We are 15 mins drive from the nearest beach but there are literally hundreds within one hours' drive, all different: pebbles or sand, rocks and coves or long sweeping bays, sheltered and wild, you choose what takes your fancy!
CULTURE:
If you're looking for a cultural holiday we can offer plenty with world-class museums, ancient forts, stately homes, gardens and beautiful medieval hilltop villages all within easy reach. We are only 20 mins from Grasse, the world centre of perfume-making, where you can visit perfumeries and even have a go at making your own scent. Gorgeous Nice with its famous Promenade des Anglais is half an hour away, as are Antibes (home to Picasso) and glamorous Cannes.
ADVENTURE ACTIVITIES & SPORTS:
For an active holiday look no further! Being close to the sea you can find all sorts of watersports nearby including sailing, windsurfing, SUP, kayaking & diving. But also being close to the mountains you can ski (in the winter), rock climb, hike, go canyoning & ziplining. There are several via ferratas and treetop climbing circuits near by. We are close to several horse riding stables and 14 golf courses within an hour (the nearest is only 7 mins drive away). The area is renowned for its challenging road cycling and we have ATB trails direct from the door.
FUN FOR KIDS (OF ALL AGES):
10 mins away there are two adventure playgrounds with climbing trails in the trees, a maze and a children’s theme park. It is ideal for families with young children. Only slightly further away there are a couple of water parks, karting, paintball and crazy golf. For those rare days when you want to be indoors you’ll find bowling alleys, laser tag games, trampoline parks, escape rooms and cinemas showing films in English and French.
SCENIC DRIVES & DAY TRIPS:
For further afield it is possible to make day trips to St Tropez, Marseille, Cassis, the Gorges du Verdon, lavender fields, Monaco, Mercantour National Park, San Remo and other towns across the border in Italy.
FESTIVALS, EVENTS & CARNIVAL:
The Côte d'Azur is home to many world-famous events and festivals such as the Cannes Film Festival, Monaco F1 GP and Nice Carnival. All of these and plenty more are reachable from Lou Messugo.
