The house
The house is a unique wooden mountain lodge. Built in traditional northern European style and tastefully decorated with a very comfortable sitting area and many 'montagnarde' details. The lodge is situated on 1025m2 of private land and has a spectacular view. Through the enormous windows of the living room, you can see the Italian Alps from the sofa in clear weather. And at night, the crystal clear starry sky takes your breath away.
Petit Bois is equipped with all modern conveniences and offers everything for a wonderful stay. All together at the table on the large covered veranda, children who enjoy hours of fun on the huge trampoline in the garden with various seats and play facilities, roasting marshmallows over the campfire on the fireplace or enjoying the delicious wood stove on a cool evening (the firewood is ready).

The mountains of the Hautes-Alpes; the sunniest part of the French Alps. Located on 'hiking and mountain biking paradise the Ceuse', in the middle of a nature reserve with the department's capital Gap at 20 minutes' driving distance.
Whether you like hiking, climbing, cycling, lazing at a lake, or strolling through old towns, from 'our log cabin' Petit Bois, you have it all within reach. And Petit Bois lies on the south side of the Alps, which means that the sun shines frequently, but without the oppressive heat of the Provence. By the way, you can drive between the lavender fields within half an hour if you want to, because the Provence is also nearby.

HEERLIJK! Met jonge kinderen was het huis en de tuin heerlijk. Alle mogelijke voorzieningen (voor jonge kinderen 6,4 en 2) waren aanwezig, en contact wel snel gelegd bij een hulp vraag. Met 30 tot 45 minuten rijden, is er super veel te doen in de omgeving. Nog los van een heerlijke wandeling/mtb tocht op de berg! Dikke aanrader mijn inziens. Wij waren dolblij met onze week in Betot Bois, veel dank aan de Familie Houten!

The sunny Gap, capital of the Hautes-Alpes, lies on the border between Provence and Dauphiné. In the summer, the temperature fluctuates around 26° and the sunny pastel-coloured houses, the splashing fountains, the narrow passages and cosy terraces give you an instant holiday feeling.
It is a pleasure to stroll through the pedestrian streets and on Saturdays there is a market of regional products. The Place Alsace-Lorraine is an excellent place for a glass of wine or a bite to eat. Rue Carnot is a great place for shopping.
The history of Gap goes back to the year 14 BC, when it was founded by the Romans on the "Via Cottia per Alpem", the road that connected the Rhone valley with Turin. You can still find remains from that period in the Musée Départemental de Gap. In the Middle Ages, the city became a stopping place for pilgrims from Northern Italy on their way to Compostella. Napoleon also stopped here during his glorious journey from the Golfe Juan to Grenoble, which makes Gap an important place on the Route Napoleon.
Around the city, nature has remained unspoiled and the air is still pure. Waving lavender fields and fragrant orchards are surrounded by white mountain tops, wooded hills and the awe-inspiring peaks of the Ecrins.
Activities
From Petit Bois you can walk up the Ceuse where you can make several beautiful walks and very challenging mount bike tours. The massifs of the Devoluy and the Ecrins are just a stone's throw away. Hikers, climbers and cyclists can enjoy themselves here.
The environment of Petit Bois is also very suitable for children. There are several child-friendly walks, which offer enough adventure for young and old. From the age of 5, children can get their first mountain climbing experience on the 'accro branches': spectacular climbing courses between the trees. For the more advanced, there are even 'black' routes available at 10 metres. A 20-minute drive from Petit Bois is a swimming lake with a supervised beach. Here you can also rent pedal boats.
The Ardeche, the Gorges Du Verdon and the Vercors are all within easy reach. Descend into the Gorge for a spectacular walk for the whole family (bring your torch!), go on a cave expedition in the Ardeche or simply visit a beautiful town like Embrun or Briancon.
In winter, when there is enough snow, the ski resort of Ceuse offers skiing fun for beginners to advanced skiers. 25 minutes away in Superdevoluy, conditions are perfect from December until well into April. This area is located in a so-called 'schneelog' and is therefore extremely snow certain. The drive there is beautiful, there is a large free car park with always enough space and Superdevoluy is a large area with fast lifts and a - for French standards - reasonable price level.

Additional price info and offers
Prices include compulsory final cleaning and exclude energy costs and 200 euro deposit (will be settled with energy consumption). For dogs we charge 20 euros per dog per stay. Linen can be rented for 20 euros pp (bed and bath linen).
