The house
Villa des Roses is a cosy and comfortable Provencal family home, situated in a quiet area in the "Parc National du Verdon". It is free and has a magnificent view over the valley with the river Verdon.
The villa is on one level. There is a spacious living room with LED TV, satelite.tv receiver, DVD player and DVDs, wifi connection, CD player, patio doors to several terraces. The semi-open Provencal kitchen is equipped with various appliances and large refrigerator / freezer, oven, microwave and dishwasher.
There are 3 spacious bedrooms (1x 2.pers.bed, 2x 2x1-pers.bed), a spacious bathroom with massage shower. Outside is a swimming pool of 5.50 x 4.00 and 1.27 deep, a gas barbecue, sun terrace with sun beds and several seating areas.

Artignosc sur Verdon is located on the edge of the Valensole plateau, known for its beautiful lavender fields, which are also just outside our village. From both terraces you have a beautiful view over the nature reserve and the river Verdon. The house is only 3 minutes from the Lac d'Artignosc with various water sports and about 15 km from the famous azure blue Lac st. Croix and the "grand Canyon of the Verdon". The house is located on a dead end road from the village, from this road you can walk straight into the nature reserve.Walking, cycling, mountain biking start at the front door - the village is on a hiking trail similar to the "Pennine Walks".
The village Artignosc is such a typical Provencal hilltop village, (where life in summer goes in a lower gear ), in the middle of the Knight Templars area. The history of the village goes back to before the year AC 956. Of course there are many Provencal markets and brocantes and fêtes in the area, and Artignosc itself is in the summer "and fete".

Een heerlijk vakantiehuis van alle gemakken voorzien. Lekker zwembad voor de deur. Aardige en behulpzame gastheer en gastvrouw. Prachtige omgeving. We zijn op zaterdag naar de markt in Aups geweest, wat een leuke en gevarieëerde markt! We hebben een vroege-ochtend-wandeling in de omgeving gemaakt (zonsopgang) en 's avonds naar het dorp gewandeld (zonsondergang) Orange hebben we bezocht (ligt wel iets verder weg) en wezen kayakken. Na al deze activiteiten konden we heerlijk bijkomen in en bij het fijne huis. Goede bedden enz.

Restaurants, food & wine
Artignosc itself has an auberge (Tripadviser recommended), where you can relax outside under the plane trees and fine dishes of the day are served. Riez has several excellent restaurants as well as Aups, there is something for every budget.
Between Villecroze and Lorques you will find the famous winery Chateau de Berne and just beyond Lorques is an equally famous winery, St. Rosaline. Jazz concerts and brocantes are also organized on both estates.
Both the neighboring village of Regusse and Aups are known for the large traditional Provencal market (2x p.week) with in the autumn also a truffle market.
Activities
Because the house is in the middle of a nature reserve, div. activities already start at the front door, such as hiking, biking, mountain biking. And with 2 lakes so close, almost all water sports activities are possible. And what about rafting and canyoning in the famous canyon, where you can also go mountaineering, abseiling, etc.
In Quinson , just a few km. away , is the prehistoric museum with real sites and cavedrawings and dwellings from antiquity. There are also many remains and chateaux, not only of the Templars, but also of the Romans, as in Riez. Aups is known for its Provencal market, and even a day to St. Tropez or Nice is not beyond the possibilities.
Aix-en-Provence is only an hour away .
Near the Lac d'Artignosc is a riding school, which allows horseback riding and trips on horseback and in summer there are night trips with kayaking on the river . There are many brocantes and fêtes in the area.

Further remarks
Artignosc is such a typical Provencal hilltop village, in the middle of the real French country side, where life in summer is in a lower gear and the inhabitants retreat under the plane trees with a pastis or a rosé and in the evening petanque is played. Lovely to come back to the peace and quiet after a wonderful day at the Lac st. Croix or the "Gorges du Verdon".
