The house

  • Quiet, rural area with some agricultural activity

Beautifully renovated house with views over the hills and a private heated swimming pool.

The Bergerie is situated in a rural setting in the middle of the Provence, close to the artistic village of Bargemon, 45 minutes hours driving from the coast.
The house is built in the original provincial character with a magnificent garden and the romantic style that many more modern houses lack.
The house is large 1800 square feet and has been decorated by the owners (Véronique Jansen is an interior designer) to a high level of taste and colour.

You enter the spacious hall with staircase to the first level.
On the right there is the cosy living kitchen equipped with all modern day devices such as dishwasher refrigerator/freezer, hob etc. a dining table for 10 and french doors opening out onto the garden.
In the pantry there is a washing machine with iron and ironing plank.
Large living room with a big fireplace, comfortable settee and beamed ceiling.
There is a satellite TV, DVD and stereo with CD player.
The French doors led out onto a shadowy cosy terrace with dining table.

From the hall on the ground floor, with separate toilet you come into the main bedroom with a double bed and doors opening out into the garden, en suite bathroom with shower, toilet and washbasin.

On the 1st floor are 2 bedrooms, with beautiful views.
Since you will be staying in the mas type, the first charming bedroom is located on the semi-open loft.
You walk through a hallway to bedroom 2.
In the hall on the left is a small bathroom (with a beautiful view) with a bath with shower facility and sink. The separate toilet is located on the left side of the hall

On the 2nd floor is a separate 'studio', with beautiful views over the entire valley.
The "studio" is suitable for 4 people and accessible via 2 separate entrances.
Entrance 1: at the covered terrace/veranda you go around the back and then walk towards a large stone staircase that gradually goes up.
Entrance 2: Go via the uphill road behind the villa, where you can see the entrance at street level.
This makes it easy to bring your bags to your vacation spot.

This space itself is approximately 50 m2, consists of 2 bedrooms with lovely box springs.
Both rooms enjoy a beautiful view!
Upon entering the studio you will immediately enter the master bedroom I.
Through this room, you reach bedroom II via a corridor.
In the hall is the bathroom with bath with shower facility and there is also a sink.
The toilet is separate.

Children’s bed, baby cot and baby chair are available on request.
Dogs are also on request.

Restaurants, food & wine

Bargemon has a few very good restaurants.

In Other villages we can recommend:
Restaurant Bruno in Lorgues (truffles)
Gorge dus Pennefort close to Calles
Restaurant, Chez Hugo, les Castellares and Les Deux Rocs in Seillans

Furthermore, at CHEZ HUGO (a favorite of ours), you can also enjoy delicious food at an affordable price.
Hugo's parents have a Chambre d'Hotes in Seillans (Les Combes Longues). Mother and son are very good cooks. To us they are the best in their field, in the region.

In our area you can also find a few good wineries.
For example: Chateau d'Esclans and Chateau Sainte Rosaline.
And of course you can taste here their excellent wines.
A very famous winery in La Motte is: Chateau d'Esclans.
Sacha Lichine settled in La Motte-en-Provence in 2006 and bought Château d'Esclans from a Swedish family.
Sacha is the son of world-renowned winemaker and writer Alexis Lichine.
He has only one goal and that is to make the best rosé in the world.

Activities

Within half an hour you will find several renowned golf courses of which Terre Blanche in Fayence, the Taulane in La Martre, designed by Gary Playet and the famous Royal Mougins and St Andreol in La Motte.

At approximately 45 mins driving you have the Cote d’Azur of which some of the places to visit are Théoule sur Mer, Les Issambres and St. Maxime.
Tip : From St. Maxime there are boats leaving regulary to St. Tropez.
This way to can avoid all the traffic jams around St. Tropez.

At only a 25 minutes drives you will find Lac St. Cassien, surrounded by beautiful nature. fishing, swimming, diving and water clycling are the sport options over there.

Culturally, you lack nothing here.
In Nice (an hour's drive) you can visit Matisse, or Marc Chagall.

Further remarks

What we love about our Bergerie is, is that our home has a real SOUL.
It's not a prefab "perfect" house, buits it's an old, renovated house, with thick walls, beams and a lot of "secrets".
The house has a beautiful view, peaceful, with distant views on the mountains and also on a big beautiful olive groove.

the garden is 6000 square meters large and has around 50 olive trees, olanders, fig trees, mimosa, an almond tree etc. etc.
The house is originally an old sheepfold (La Bergerie), whose core has very thick walls, which gives extra character to the whole.

La Bergerie is situated in a complete private setting, but not isolated, which was very important for us.
The house is situated only 2 kilometers from the lovely, unspoiled art-village Bargemon.
The daily ride (2 km) to the village is a joy.
The nature is so incredibly beautiful and the village itself is old, has beautiful art galleries and is not spoiled by all kinds of souvenir shops etc.
