The house
Holiday home 'Villa Coquelicot' is a beautiful, detached villa, in the heart of Provence, amidst an oasis of calm. The villa was built fairly recently (2006) and is excellently cared for and maintained.
The house has an area of 144 square metres, is entirely on the ground floor and, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, is suitable for use by six people. The house is located on a fully enclosed plot of over 2000 square metres. On the driveway (within a gate with a separate entrance gate) there is room to park several cars. The garden is spacious; around the swimming pool (8 x 4 metres) is a very extensive sun terrace, which is amply equipped with luxurious garden furniture. A high-quality table tennis table and a Weber electric BBQ are also at your disposal. The swimming pool is heated.
The layout of the villa is as follows:
- entrance hall with toilet and wash basin
- spacious, tastefully decorated lounge with adjacent dining room; both lounge and dining room have French doors to the various terraces
- separate modern kitchen fitted with all appliances, such as dishwasher, oven, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment, electric cooker, kettle and coffee maker
- three spacious bedrooms
- master bedroom with en suite bathroom (toilet, bath, 2 washbasins and separate shower), pullman twin beds (2 x 90 x 200 cm) with standing leg/hanging cupboard
- guest bedroom 1 with twin beds (2 x 90 x 200 cm) and built-in wardrobe
- Guest room 2 with two 80 x 190 cm single beds and built-in cupboard space
Both guest rooms use a second bathroom, with shower and 2 washbasins.
All bedrooms have patio doors to the garden.
The twin beds can be pushed apart and made up separately if desired.
- A storage room with washing machine and dryer; next to this room is an extra room with a pull-out bed.
All French doors, both those in the bedrooms and those in the living room, have very practical roller gauze screens.

Villa Coquelicot is situated in the hilly, green surroundings of the Var department, in the Provence region. The villa is reached via a quiet road, which ends slightly beyond the villa on an unpaved path through the field, so peace and privacy are guaranteed.
From the garden you can see the village Bargemon, which can be reached by car in a few minutes and by foot in a quarter of an hour. Bargemon is situated at an altitude of 480 metres and is surrounded by a network of medieval alleyways. Here you will experience the unadulterated Provencal atmosphere.
The area has more historic villages, such as Claviers, Callas, and Seillans, each with their own charm. A little further away, but within an hour, are the bustling cities, seaside resorts and beaches of the Côte d'Azur. If you love nature and silence, do not drive to the coast, but in the other direction, into the inland. There, you will find the famous 'gorges du Verdon'.

Prachtige vakantie doorgebracht in dit heel erg mooie huisje!
Alles aanwezig, heel proper en verwarmd zwembad, vele leuke zitplaatsjes en hoekjes. Mooie gerenoveerde kamers. Groot domein, mooie omgeving, gezellig dorpje dichtbij, … Kortom: een dikke aanrader!! :)
Restaurants, food & wine
For good food, this area is the place to be! Bargemon and the other towns in the vicinity offer numerous cosy restaurants, which are attractive both for their tempting menus and for their atmospheric terraces, where you can taste and experience the southern French life to the full.
But the comfortably equipped kitchen of villa Coquelicot itself is of course also a great place to prepare a delicious summer meal. You can choose the ingredients from the abundant offer displayed in the French supermarkets, or you can get them at one of the Provençal markets, of which there is at least one in the neighbourhood on almost every day of the week.
When it comes to wine, Provence naturally has a reputation to uphold. The rosé from this region is known and loved all over the world. Just south of Bargemon is a flatter area, where you will find several wine domains. Pick one, taste some, and go home with a few nice bottles or, as is common in many French households, a 'bag in box' from which you can tap your daily wine.
Activities
The choice of activities is enormous; you can:
- take a nice walk, or a sporty bike ride (for sporty cyclists, information on several beautiful bike routes is available in the villa);
- wander through old, hillside villages, with historic churches, squares with café terraces under the plane trees, or magnificent views of the beautiful surroundings;
- pedal boats, rafting or canoeing on one of the nearby rivers or (dam) lakes;
- Looking for the glamour of places like Cannes, Monaco or St-Tropez;
- Playing golf on one of the various courses in the area;
- soak up culture in, for example, a Romanesque abbey or a Picasso, Matisse or Chagall museum....;
- spend a day at sea, at one of the countless bays and beaches along the 'Méditerranée';
- or: do none of the above, and just lazily enjoy the sun and the pool!
