The house
WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OF THE CENTRE OF COTIGNAC .......
Bastide Rouge is a pleasant and cosy detached Provençal house for 6 persons with private swimming pool. The Bastide is within walking distance of the charming village of Cotignac. From the terrace and from the living room you can see the typical rock face and the variety of houses and roofs of Cotignac. Also at night, the lights of Cotignac offer a fascinating view. The privacy of the house is optimal and yet the house is close to the access road to Cotignac. Bastide Rouge has a garden divided into terraces and lies on its own grounds of 5000m2. The terrain is not enclosed by a fence.
Bastide Rouge is built against a hill at the entrance of the village of Cotignac. The Bastide has sufficient private parking space. Through the front door you enter the spacious living room with open kitchen. A glass front in the living room leads to the large terrace. Here you have a magnificent view of the wooded surroundings and the village of Cotignac with its typical rock face, the 'Falaise'. An ideal terrace to enjoy your grilled steak from the gas barbecue, or just relax with a nice glass of rosé. The kitchen has a fridge, freezer, dishwasher, oven and 4-ring ceramic hob. From the entrance you can go right into a hallway with a toilet and access to a bedroom with a double bed, a TV with French/International channels and a private bathroom/toilet and walk-in shower. There are doors to a second terrace where you have a view from comfortable chairs on the swimming pool (4x9 meters) that can be reached by stairs from the terrace.
On the ground floor are two spacious bedrooms that share a bathroom with bath, washbasin and toilet. You can also easily reach the swimming pool from the ground floor. The terrace around the swimming pool and the terraces on the ground floor are equipped with plenty of seating and sun loungers.

Bastide Rouge is located in the municipality of Cotignac, within walking distance of the centre of one of the most beautiful villages in Provence.
In Cotignac you will find 2 bakers, a butcher, a 'neighbourhood supermarket', a bank branch, a supermarket (just outside the village in the direction of Brignoles) and a post office, but above all many attractive terraces of bars and restaurants. Under the plane trees on the 'Cours', Cotignac is the village where you can dream away over a pastis or a cup of coffee with the question in the back of your mind whether you still want to return to the 'cool' north.
Living close to the village, you can fully enjoy all village activities and events, after which you can quickly return to your bastide to cool off in your pool and enjoy everything this house has to offer.

Prettig onderkomen en grote tuin, wij vonden het géén bezwaar dat de woning dicht aan de doorgaande weg lag richting het dorp. Overigens was het 's nachts sowieso stil! Vlakbij het dorp op een kleine 500 meter afstand kon de auto electrisch opgeladen worden in een rap tempo op de parkeerplaats. Erg leuk pittoresk dorp met zijn terrasjes en vele restaurants en wekelijkse markt. Er was in de warmste/ zonnigste slaapkamer een jaren 60 ventilator die met veel kabaal zijn ding deed, het zou prettig zijn tijdens warme hoogzomerdagen dat er een fan is van deze tijd! Maar boven alles: heerlijke week gehad!
Restaurants, food & wine
If you like wine, the Cotignac area is the place to be. Rosé is of course the most important product in this region, but nowadays they also produce good white and red wine. If you are interested, Margherita and Ron, your local contacts, will be happy to provide you with addresses of some good wineries. On request we can also organise a wine tasting for you during one of the afternoons or evenings of your stay at Bastide Rouge. It is also possible to prepare, besides the wine, an accompanying snack. We will discuss the details with you in order to make your discovery of the wines of the Var, or the deepening of your knowledge of them, as well as your wishes regarding the accompanying snacks or meal, pleasant, to your liking and within your budget.
Activities
The house is ideally situated for numerous activities such as fishing, kayaking, cycling/mountain biking and hiking through the nearby vineyards. There are plenty of golf courses in the area, as well as tennis and horse riding facilities. At about 45 minutes distance, you will find the natural beauty of the Gorges du Verdon, ideal for mountain climbing, mountain biking, canoeing, pedal boating etc. Beach and sea can be reached within 45 minutes.
Around Cotignac there are numerous wine chateaux and the famous Provencal markets. You will certainly enjoy the Tuesday morning market in Cotignac or the Sunday morning market in Salernes. Villages such as Sillans, Salernes, Lorgues, Flayosc, Tourtour and Aups lie within a radius of 20 km and are well worth a visit. The beaches of Frejus and St. Tropez are located at approx. 60 km. The cities of Aix-en-Provence, Nice, Cannes, Toulon/Hyeres can all be reached in approx. 1 hour by car.
