We’ve had a great time at maison Mimosa. The house is beautiful. Very tastefully furnished and decorated. The best place in Flayosc to experience staying in the centre of this southern French village. The pizzaria downstairs is very good. They have also some good other dishes on the menu besides pizza’s. Try to experience the market on Monday, which is almost in front of the door. There is also a lot to see around Flayosc.

    Restaurants, food & wine

Positioned in the central square of the town it’s situated to enjoy all of the eccentricities of French village life. The Monday morning market is right outside the house, where you can buy delicious local cheese and meat, wine, olive oils, salts from the Camargue region and bread and cakes. During the summer months many musical events take place, from Jazz evenings, to Spanish guitar and local bands.

The award winning restaurants are known to locals who congregate with their extended families for lunch on weekends all year round. If you like steak then La Salle a Manger is for you, L’Oustaou is just outside the door, or try Le Nid Cuisine, Le Cigalon, La Fleur de Them, for more casual dining: les Melisan, Cafe du Commerce, Cafe du Midi, Bar la Remise, Au Four a Bois for Pizza and many others very nearby within meters of the house. And if you prefer to eat at home then there is no need to cook as the local deli provides excellent ready made delicious local delicacies and for your daily bread the two French bakeries have divine patisseries and breads. There are two grocery stores, a fruit and vegetable shop as well as many other places to sit and sip a Pastis or glass of Rose in the town square, or buy your own wine and relax on the terrace watching the sun go down.

    Activities

300 days of sunshine a year, this area is ideal all year round. With wonderful walks climbing, canoeing golfing and colourful Provençal markets. One and a half hours from skiing. The wonderful wines of this area are not to be missed. The Flayosc area is relatively unspoilt with 200k of walks and mountain bike trails. Flayosc is a peaceful rural village where Provençal style and a good life is the norm. There are many excellent shops and fine restaurants that enable the visitor to experience the provençal way of life. Few villages have such rich and detailed archives as Flayosc including beautiful parchments and irreplaceable documents on domestic and economic life over the centuries. The village's former thriving shoe-making industry and its 5 workshops, which finally closed down in the 1960s are well documented.

Due to its geographical location, Flayosc, which is in the Upper Var region and the Verdon Grand Canyon, does not resemble either the usual Riviera villages, or the nearby, more arid mountain villages. Many of the tourists who come here choose it as their permanent residence, for the tranquillity and quality of life it offers. It is also a very dynamic village, offering a whole range of activities rarely found elsewhere. Here, culture is omnipresent.

The Bureau de Tourisme et d'Animation Rurale manages around 30 different clubs and societies totalling 400 members. Flayosc also has its own library and organises street theatre events, concerts and film showings. Summer is the ideal time to enjoy the many traditional celebrations, such as the "Fête de Saint-Laurent" in early August and the Arts & Crafts Fair. Bric-a-brac markets also take place on the 4th Sunday of each month from May to October.
