The house
Living room
The cosy living room, with doors opening onto the terrace, has a large table with 8 chairs, a corner sofa, TV, HDMI cable and Chromecast. The terrace is covered with grapes and roses. WIFI (fibre optic since 2022) in and around the house up to and including the pool. The kitchen is half-open to the living room.
Kitchen
The kitchen includes an induction hob, fridge, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, freezer, bread maker, blender, food processor, juicer, Nespresso machine, smoker etc. The cupboards contain all the essentials like rice, flour, sugar, spices, olive oil and so on.
Pizza oven / barbecue
Next to the house is an outdoor kitchen with a large table, a sink and a so-called pizza oven. It is an original wood oven in which not only pizzas can be baked, but also entrecotes, lamb rack or the most crispy duck breast fillet! In France, it is forbidden to barbecue in the garden in summer. A pizza oven, however, is allowed. There is more than enough wood to build a substantial fire every day.
Bedrooms
There are three double bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. This bathroom has a shower, a washbasin and a toilet. They overlook the large garden and grounds with swimming pool. One of the upstairs bedrooms has an extra long double bed of 2.20 m. One or two beds can be added to these bedrooms, so that 8 people can stay in the house (see quote).
The largest bedroom is on the ground floor and has French doors to the terrace. This spacious bathroom has a bath, washbasin, toilet and shower.
Wheelchairs
The entire ground floor, including the bedroom, bathroom and toilet, is suitable for wheelchairs. With a wheelchair, you can easily get to the large terrace and from there (if you cannot take the stairs) via an asphalted path to the swimming pool (with a shallow part of 20 cm). A walker is available.
Sauna
There is a sauna next to the pool. It is wood-fired and warm within an hour.
Table tennis table
There is a new "outdoor" table tennis table, which you can fold out and use.
Bats and balls are available.
Extra flat
The flat right next to the house can also be rented as additional accommodation (1000 euro excl.). This so-called mezzonette is not rented separately to other tenants if you have booked the house. The flat is a small dwelling with bathroom, kitchen, a double bed and an attic (for 2 or 3 children). This brings the maximum number of people to 12. See also the video made.
Because of traffic jams and driving on Sundays, a week can be from Sunday to Sunday or from Saturday to Sunday, e.g. by arrangement.

The house is situated on 4000 m2 of private land on the outskirts of the medieval village of Villecroze, in the green heart of Provence.
The lively village has a bakery, a supermarket, a café, a patisserie with delicious ice cream, a tourist office, tennis courts and a skate park. There are several restaurants on the market square surrounded by centuries-old plane trees. Once a week there is a market. Villecroze is known for its caves and the beautiful park at the foot of the waterfall.
In Villecroze, 330 m above sea level, there is a so-called microclimate. This means that the local weather conditions are favourable. It cools down nicely at night, even in the middle of summer, while it is wonderfully warm during the day. The weather is always beautiful in the summer.
The village is less than 10 minutes cycling, 20 minutes walking.
Salernes is a nice village 5 km away. Here are, besides many small shops, two large supermarkets and there is a fairly large market twice a week.
The beautiful lake Lac st Croix is at 45 minutes driving distance. You can surf and ride a pedalo there. The beach is very quiet.
In the Gorges du Verdon are many beautiful walks and cycling tours. It is a 45 minutes drive to the beaches of Frejus, Cannes and Nice.

We hebben maar liefst drie weken mogen genieten van dit geweldige huis. Het was zoals overal erg warm, maar de nachten waren koel en overdag was het heerlijk toeven onder de eiken en in het zwembad. Het huis is erg compleet, Nederlandse zenders, WiFi, een keuken waarin niets ontbreekt aan apparatuur, goede bedden, fietsen. Het is rustig en privé, soms wat geblaf van honden in de buurt. De omgeving is de moeite waard met mooie dorpjes zoals Aups, Entrecasteaux, TourTour en iets verder weg Toulon, Aix-en-Provence en de abdij van Thoronet. Contact met de verhuurder is bijzonder prettig en snel.
Fam. Singels from Amersfoort,
Voor de tweede keer naar dit heerlijke vakantiehuis geweest. Het huis ligt heel privé, maar toch in de buurt van een bakker en supermarkten. De woning is van alle gemakken voorzien, maar de tuin is pas écht fantastisch!! Het was dit keer erg warm, soms tegen de 40 graden, maar het zwembad bood genoeg verkoeling en er zijn genoeg plekjes waar je heerlijk kunt genieten van zowel de zon als de schaduw. De pizzaoven is zoveel leuker dan een traditionele barbecue en de pingpongtafel is ook veel gebruikt. Leuke dorpen in de buurt en ook weer gezwommen in het Lac de Sainte Croix. Het zoutwaterzwembad is trouwens een grote plus voor mensen die minder goed tegen chloor kunnen. Wij willen nu alweer terug, het is hier echt genieten!!

We zijn nog vol aan het nagenieten van opnieuw een heerlijke vakantie in dit geweldige huis in deze prachtige omgeving! Het huis is fijn schoon (dank aan Nathalie!) en van alle gemakken voorzien, ook voor mijn moeder die op leeftijd is. We werden weer betoverd door de heerlijke geuren van de bloeiende jasmijn, lavendel en rozemarijn.. Elke dag hebben we gezwommen in het mooie zwembad, lekker gekokkereld in de ruim voorziene keuken en ook de pizza-oven is weer gebruikt. Het leven is zo goed hier.. ❤️ En terwijl we rond middernacht vanuit de tuin de prachtige sterrenhemel bewonderden werden we als extra bonus getrakteerd op een vallende ster.. Magisch!
Wat was het weer heerlijk in dit paradijsje, hartelijk dank Susan! En een warme groet van ons.
Restaurants, food & wine
In the village itself there are several restaurants including "Chez Martine" where it is actually always full, summer and winter.
Nearby are many chateaus, some mentioned in the Guide Hachette like Domaine St.-Jean-Villecroze and Château Thuerry (Coup de Coeur).
Well known is the truffle restaurant of "Bruno" in Lorgues where rich fans are dropped off with their helicopter (literally?).
The market in Lorgues on Tuesday is well known in the area, for food and non-food.
For fresh truffles you need to be in Aups, only 20 minutes away.
In supermarkets and regular markets are plenty of organic products for sale (Biocoop in Salernes).

Further remarks
The house was built in 2005 and is located on the outskirts of the village of Villecroze last on a dead-end road giving you plenty of privacy. A narrow stream flows along the property. Wild lavender, rosemary, thyme and laurel grow on the property and there are pine and oak trees.
Around the house is relatively flat land so there is opportunity to kick a ball around, play jeux de boules, play table tennis or jump on the trampoline (io). Children can cycle around the house on mountain bikes and within 10 minutes you are in the centre where you can buy delicious croissants. A new outdoor table tennis table was installed in 2022!
The spacious terrace is covered by grapes and roses and is located south-west. If it gets too hot, it is cooling to sit in the shade under the trees or behind the house. The house itself is well insulated. Nights are cool and if the doors are closed in time it does not get warmer than 20 degrees inside.
The saltwater pool (about 5x11 m, good for swimming laps) has a shallow section for small children (20cm) . In the house are 3 life jackets for children of 5-20KG The water does not taste salty, the little salt there is less chlorine in the water, so children have less ear, eye and nose problems (in the month of May 2023, the pool is not available due to maintenance, this is included in the price).
Also in the winter months it is lovely, in January it is even possible to drink coffee outside in the sun during the day and in the evening the wood stove can be lit.
There is wireless internet, a TV with chromecast and HDMI cable and a DVD player.
It is possible, only as an extra to the main house, to rent the adjoining flat (mezzonette) for a family with 3 children.
A sauna was installed in 2016. This is wood-fired. In less than an hour it is up to temperature. With the swimming pool next to it a lovely experience (especially late at night when it is dark and the pool lights are on).
