La Syrah

La Syrah occupies the upper floor of a stone farmhouse dating from the 18th century. The house is set amid a hectare and a half (four acres) of vines and fruit trees, with a large heated swimming pool, on the edge of the small medieval town of Caromb. There is a boulodrome and hammocks on the property that guests are free to use.

The property is rated three star Meubles de Tourisme and is only advertised on gites.com so availability is up to date, There are only two apartments on the property - Syrah with two bedrooms and Grenache with one bedroom so there is a maximum of six guests on the entire property at any time to ensure everyone has space and privacy.

Two bedrooms comfortably accommodate up to four guests. The apartment is fully self-contained and has its own private outdoor staircase and entrance, and is quiet, with the space below unused (except during harvest in mid-September). The owners live on the property and are always happy to help their guests. As the property is a working vineyard, it's not suitable for young children, pets, or people who have difficulty with stairs.
The apartment has its own private enclosed verandah which enjoys panoramic views of nearby Caromb and the Luberon hills. The surrounding countryside is a quiet landscape of vineyards and orchards.

The five by eleven metre swimming pool, is heated to 30 degrees via its own air source heat pump (in turn fuelled by solar panels). It is open in July and August and we aim to have the pool open June and September. Sunbeds are available to relax on the terrace by the pool. This outdoor area has sunbeds with cushions, a BBQ and a large table and dining chairs. It is next to the pool and is for the exclusive use of guests staying at La Syrah. There are just two gites - this one and a one bed gite for two people. The pool is only shared with the owners and the other one bedroom gite.
Guests are very welcome to use the facilities including the boulodrome and we also have special mosquito technology to make the outdoor experience more pleasant for everyone

In the distance is the great peak of Mont Ventoux, a famously hard stage of the Tour de France; the great regional park of the Luberon; the hilltop medieval village of Le Barroux and the many other surrounding hills; To the North we have views of the Dentelles de Montmirail mountain range, an area enjoyed by climbers. Fabulous provençal markets are on Tuesdays in Vaison la Romaine and Carpentras on Fridays.

Inside the apartment are two bedrooms, one with a king size double bed and one with two single beds. The fully equipped modern kitchen includes an induction stovetop with four hobs (burners), full sized electric oven (stove), dishwasher and microwave.. The kitchen is fully equipped including a Nespresso machine, There is an integrated washing machine and dryer for Syrah guests to use.

A dining table seats four, and there is an additional dining table on the verandah. The verandah has windows on three sides, all of which can be opened to create an indoor-outdoor feel while enjoying the shade. The room also has sofas, making it an ideal spot to relax, read, or enjoy the views.

The bathroom has a sink and WC and a shower.

We also leave a table and chairs under the vines at the bottom of the staircase, which is a very popular spot with our guests for breakfast. This provides additional eating area outside in addition to the deck by the pool
