The house
Le Marronnier is a characteristic stone house in northern Ardeche. The house was originally a farm and was then converted into a residence. It is a house in a hameau (small hamlet with a number of houses) just outside the picturesque village of Labatie d'Andaure. Near the house is a spacious garden with lawns. Some beautiful trees offer shady spots.
Our house is cosily furnished. The rental part has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Downstairs in the house is a kitchen, a bathroom with a bath and a shower. On that floor is also the living room with a fireplace.
On the first floor are two bedrooms. Both bedrooms have one double bed and the other double bed can be converted into two single beds at will.
The terrace can be accessed directly from the living room. From that terrace you have a magnificent view over the valley.

André is de twee weken van ons verblijf een vriendelijke gastheer die vlot reageert, open en helder communiceert en easy-going is.
Alles wat je in een vakantiehuis nodig heb is in Le Marronnier aanwezig. In de keuken staat een moderne oven & magnetron, bestek, toaster, afwasmachine, koffieapparaat, verschillende potten en pannen etc etc. Echt zo'n beetje alles wat we thuis ook hebben staan.
De bedden zijn lekker stevig, degelijk en lang waardoor we zo heerlijk en diep geslapen hebben, mede door de volkomen stilte van buiten. Badkamer idem.En in wat een prachtige omgeving staat deze sites. Tegen de heuvel aan, midden tussen de bergen met een wijds uitzicht.
Het terras, welke op gelijke hoogte gesitueerd is als die van de woonkamer, heeft de ochtendzon het bij het ontbijt voor het zeggen. In de middag, wanneer het warmer wordt, biedt de wijnstruik als overdenking schaduw of je wijkt uit naar de heerlijke tuin met z'n historische boom. 2 Ligstoelen incluis.
En één tip, laat je 's nachts verrassen door miljoenen sterren die aan de hemel staan. De omgeving staat bekend om zijn schone lucht waardoor je veel meer dan in NL ziet hoe het heelal bedekt is met sterren.De omgeving laat zich omschrijven als het Franse binnenland. Heuvels, bergen, groen, dennen, kastanjebomen, stil. Volop gelegenheid om een uur te wandelen zonder iemand tegen te komen.
Twee keer p/week zijn we naar de markt geweest om vers fruit, groente & kaas te halen, het is alsof je kanootjes aan het kopen bent. De lokale voedingswaren zijn vers, zoet, smaakvol en/of sappig. Overheerlijk in alle gevallen.Als ik aan ons verblijf terugdenk komen een paar highlights steeds retour: stilte - groene natuur - schone lucht - buiten leven - thuis - lekker eten.
Volgens mij hebben we het fantastisch heerlijk gehad! Dank André en Gerda dat we in jullie huis mochten verblijven.

Wij zijn een week in het huis van André en Gerda geweest. Een heel authentiek huis, voorzien van alle gemakken en zeer goede bedden. Vanuit het huis een mooi uitzicht op het dal, met allemaal plekken waar je van de zon kan genieten. Zoals het zonneterras met een druivenstruik en een plekje bij de ingang van het huis. De slaapkamers en badkamers zijn goed uitgerust en de keuken handig in gebruik. Wel even opletten dat de juiste vaatwastabletten gebruikt worden ivm de septictank, maar de eerste zes worden aangeleverd door André en Gerda. Kortom een mooie plek om te vertoeven. Vanuit het huis zijn mooie tochten te maken met de auto en fiets (wel enige conditie en ervaring gewenst). In Lamastre zit een supermarkt waar de dagelijkse boodschappen te krijgen zijn. Wij hebben ons prima vermaakt en genoten van al het moois van de Ardèche en huis van Gerda en André. De welkomst fles Merlot en kaart zorgen dat wij ons meteen thuis voelden. De informatie map was voor ons een goede raadgever.
Restaurants, food & wine
In Labatie d'Andaure itself there is a restaurant/bar and also a shop. Many restaurants in the area offer excellent food in beautiful locations with a choice of local dishes.
Activities
In the surroundings of Labatie d'Andaure, Désaignes and Lamastre there is a varied offer of markets (including brocantes), concerts, exhibitions and festivals throughout the year. For children, there are many activities in the area.
Swimming: .
In Labatie d'Andaure in the river 'Le Doux' is a natural swimming spot (plan d'eau) 5 minutes away by car. There you may also fish or build dams. Also in Désaignes and near Lamastre (near camping Le Retourtour) is such a local swimming spot. There is often qualified supervision in July and August. In the Eyrieux valley (between Lamastre and Le Cheylard) there is a large open-air swimming pool with a slide and terraces.
A 20-minute drive from the house is near Saint Agrève the 'Lac de Devesset'. It is a large lake surrounded by woods where there are opportunities for swimming, pedalos, surfing, hiking and picnicking.
Fishing:
About 10 minutes away at Labatie d'Andaure, on Le Doux is a trout farm. You can catch your own trout there; if you wish, the fish will be cleaned for you afterwards.
Walking:
From Désaignes you can choose from several marked walking routes through the unspoilt nature. Hiking routes in the valley of Le Doux are available through the tourist office. Every year 'Le Trail' takes place from Désaignes at the end of April/beginning of May. It is a running event through the mountains with more than 1,200 participants.
Cycling:
The area around Labatie d'Andaure is very popular with cycling enthusiasts. Cycling routes are available through the tourist office. Every year in June, the Ardèche hosts a four-day cycling event called L'Ardèchoise. Every village along the route is decorated and turns it into a holiday.
In Désaignes and Saint Agrève mountain bikes can be hired (per hour €3; half day €9; full day €14).
Horse riding:
Between Désaignes and Lamastre lies riding school 'Le Vergier'. Guided horseback rides are possible.
Climbing park:
In the squirrel forest 'La Riaille Noire' near Le Chambon sur Lignon is a climbing park with courses at various levels, from easy to tough.
Golfing:
30 km away at Le Chambon sur Lignon is one of the most beautiful golf courses with views of the Massif Central.
Skiing:
Skiing area Les Étables - Mont Mézenc (1745 m), 45 km from Désaignes. You can also make beautiful walks there.
