The house
The holiday address for your summer, autumn, winter and spring holidays centrally located in the "Auvergne in France". At the foot of the Massif Central in the central highlands of France, Auvergne, at an altitude of 1000 metres lies the house 'Nostress', a stable converted into a luxury residence. Our luxury holiday home is located in a rural setting where French cows and calves roam the valley in an environment where many animals can still be found, such as deer, badgers, birds of prey, etc. For your children, there is plenty to do and discover in the nature around the house and in the region.
In the rural environment of Auvergne, the volcanic Massif Central, we rent our beautiful holiday home. "Nostress" called. We turned a century-old stable into a house, equipped with all modern conveniences on a 3000 m2 site.

Lots of opportunities in the beautiful surroundings for cycling, skiing, motorcycling, hiking and golf.

Auvergne, in the heart of the Massif Central, in France, is an original and unspoilt holiday destination to go to with family or friends.
The nearest towns where you can get your fresh bread or enjoy a cosy terrace are La Tour d'Auvergne and Bagnols.
Larger towns are Bort-les-Orgues, La Bourboule and Le Mont-Dore. For these you need to drive about 20 minutes and here you will find the larger and well-known supermarkets such as the Intermarché and Attac.
Nearby, you will enjoy a beautiful and unspoilt nature and the area therefore invites you to make beautiful walks and cycling tours. The originally volcanic Sancy massif is a true paradise for hikers. A unique environment with large open plains, rugged nature and an extremely diverse landscape, fauna and flora. For example, 40 different orchid species can be found in this part of Auvergne between May and October.
In La Tour d'Auvergne there is a recreational lake where you can swim and fish. From the house you can take trips to the waterfall around the corner, the medieval castle Chateau du Val located on a large reservoir on the outskirts of Bort-les-Orgues, volcanic crater lakes such as Lac Pavin (too deep to swim in).
The house has lots of maps of the area, also great tips for hiking etc.

We waren hier voor de tweede keer. We wisten dus van tevoren dat het een fijn huis is. Het weer zat mee, heerlijk zomerweer. We genoten van het prachtige uitzicht, we konden uren blijven kijken vanaf het fijne terras. De omgeving is erg geschikt voor wandelen, racefietsen, zwemmen.
Het huis heeft veel ruimte, goede bedden, fijne keuken, wat ons betreft volledig voorzien van alle gemakken. Het nachtelijk bezoek van een vleermuis op de slaapkamer was iets minder ons ding 😏.

We hebben een heerlijke tijd gehad in Eragne. Het huis is compleet ingericht, de eigenaresse is gastvrij en op afstand betrokken. Het uitzicht vanaf het terras is werkelijk fantastisch. Het huis en de tuin bieden volop privacy en rust.

Wij hebben genoten van het fijne huis en mooie omgeving. Het weer was niet best, maar hebben ondanks dat een fijne week gehad. Het huis is van alle gemakken voorzien, goede bedden, goede wifi, complete keuken etc.

- Auvergne has 5 cheeses with the AOP (Appellation d'Origine Protégée) label. The label is only given to products of exceptionally good quality. The cheeses are Saint-Nectaire, Bleu, Cantal, Salers and Fourme d'Ambert. There is a signposted cheese route which can be combined with a visit to a cheese farm.
_ Just outside La Tour, on the road towards La Bourboule is a nice shop with cheese, wine, woollen mohair products etc.
- La Ferme du Petit Planchat in Saint Sauves produces and sells not only cheeses but also other local specialities.
- Ferme des Croix de Chazelles in Avéze.
- At La Chèvrerie des Monts-Dore in Murat-Le-Quaire, one can participate in the daily life of a goat cheese farm and, of course, taste goat's cheese. During the season, lambs can also be bottle-fed.
- At La Ferme Bellonte in Village de Farges near Saint-Nectaire, you can not only learn about the Saint-Nectaire production process but also see how cows are milked. There is more to do in Village des Farges, by the way; for example, a visit to Les Mystères de Farges. During a 1-hour tour, you go back in time and get to see a light show, among other things.
- The Maison du Saint-Nectaire has a 35-minute guided tour followed by a tasting of Saint-Nectaire. Note: open only during school holidays.
- Vulcania is an adventure park that explains the history of volcanoes through 30 attractions. At Volcan de Lemptegy, you can enter a volcano on foot or by train. Here, too, the history of volcanoes is explained in detail. On some summer evenings, the park is also open at night and a true light show takes place.
* The Maison de la Pierre is a man-made cave in the lava of the Nugère volcano. Here it tells the story of stonemasons, the discovery of the Volvic spring and the daily life of the community. Do bring an extra layer of clothes; it's only 7°C in the cave!
* In Saint Pierre Colamine, the Jonas cave houses can be visited. The more than 70 rooms are spread over five levels and connected by corridors and spiral staircases. In Saint-Nectaire, the caves of Cornadore can be visited. Carved by hand in 340-million-year-old granite, these caves contain 2 hot water baths.
* Fond of knight's tales? Auvergne has a veritable castles trail. The Château de La Batisse in Chanonat, for example, can be visited. During holiday periods, knightly shows are held here. The Château of Murol and that of Cordès can also be visited.
* Honey and products containing honey can be bought at La Ruche des Volcans in Saint-Sauves d'Auvergne and at La Ruche Auvergnate in Murol. Products such as nougat, sweets, soaps and candles. There is also a permanent exhibition on bees. Les Ruchers du Sancy in Chambon sur Lac also sells its own products.
Cycling:
Come up high in the Auvergne! Cyclists can have a great time in the immediate vicinity of our accommodation. Not only cycling on super beautiful and quiet roads, but also on unpaved paths by mountain bike.
- On 10 July 2008, the 6th stage of the Tour de France passed through Le Mont-Dore. The stage ended uphill in Super-Besse.
- On 9 July 2011, the Tour de France came through Le Mont-Dore again. From Le Mont-Dore, the peloton climbed the Col de Croix St. Robert before finishing in Super-Besse as in 2008.
_ Also July 2019, the Tour de France came through the Auvergne and even rode through La Tour d'auvergne

* Due in part to its location at 1,000 m altitude, Le Mont-Dore is a spa resort well known to French people. There are various packages, where one can use the various baths and showers.

Motorcycling in the Auvergne:
* Auvergne is a popular holiday destination for motorbike holidays. In the immediate vicinity of our accommodation, too, you can enjoy touring along beautiful and quiet roads, over cols and along rivers.

In consultation with the manager, the garage can be made available for storage of motorbikes, helmets and cases.

Activities
Outdoors:
In the summer, many different outdoor activities can be undertaken in the Auvergne region. You can swim in the vicinity of Le Mont-Dore in Lac Chambon and Lac Servière. Fans of pedal boats, canoeing, windsurfing or sailing can go to Lac d'Aydat, Lac des Hermines and Lac Chambon. For healthy excitement, you can visit the amusement park Vulcania.
- Spectacular for children and adults is the adventure park of Mont-Dore Aventures. Routes of different levels go from treetop to treetop in the heart of the Capucin forest, above Le Mont-Dore. In Saint-Nectaire there is also an adventure course. The Saint-Nectaire Aventures course also has a Via Ferrata.
- The Sancy massif offers plenty of opportunities for rock climbers, especially in the Chaudefour valley with for example the "Crète du Coq" and the formidable "Dent de la Rancune". But also at Le Mont-Dore (Capucin and Verrou) and at Lac Pavin (Besse) are routes available.
- The Sancy-massif can also be admired from the air during for example a paraglide or balloon trip.
- The area also offers plenty of opportunities for horse riders. Les Ecuries de la Dordogne in Le Mont-Dore organises treks through the Parc des Volcans all year round.
- Tired of all the outdoor activities? In Le Mont-Dore there is also a casino, a bowling alley, an ice rink and an indoor jeux-de-boule hall.

Wood
Half a cubic metre of wood is included in the price in autumn and winter.
Wood for the fireplace or all-burner is in the hall upstairs. This wood is not for use in the outdoor fireplace, for which you can collect branches in the cow path. Please do not take wood from the piles outside for this purpose.
