The house
On the old railway line between Avallon and Autun lies this romantic French natural house. In the past, the staff of a French railway company lived here, operating the barriers several times a day. Nowadays, there is no train anymore, but the nostalgic track still lies in front of the cottage. The interior of the house is attractive and romantic. On the ground floor you will find the living room and kitchen. In the living room there is a comfortable armchair and a sofa with a television and DVD player. The attractive 'Brocante' kitchen is equipped with an electric hob, fridge-freezer, microwave, Nespresso machine and a kettle. On the first floor you will find the bathroom and bedroom. In the bedroom there is a double bed and in a hallway a wardrobe. The beautiful bathroom has a shower, toilet and washbasin. The cottage has a sunny and enclosed garden.

The railway cottage is located in the hamlet L'Huis Renaud near the village Liernais. There are several lakes nearby; Le Lac de Chamboux (water in this lake is the drinking water supply for the railway cottage), Le Lac St. Agnan and the larger Le Lac des Settons. The latter is a good 20 minutes' drive away in a beautiful wooded area. Here you can swim, picnic and recreate. Even in high season you do not have to search endlessly for a (unpaid) parking spot.
The nearest larger town is Saulieu where all amenities are available including some supermarkets and several (very good) restaurants. In Saulieu you will find the Basilica St. Andoche and the Francois Pompon museum. On Saturday mornings there is a local market with the most delicious regional products as you can only find in France.
Autun is a historic town about 30 kilometres from the house. Here you can do all your daily shopping etc. Every Friday morning there is a nice market in the centre of the town. Dominant in Autun is the impressive cathedral St. Lazare. In the Musée Rolin, which is located next to it, the history of Autun revives.

Mooi huisje in een prachtige omgeving. Netheid boven is perfect.
De keuken mag wat schoner, minder vol en opgeruimder. Geld ook voor de salon. We konden tijdens ons verblijf heerlijk met onze twee hondjes buiten leven door het fantastische weer. Was wel oppassen als we ze in de tuin los lieten lopen. Tuin is niet echt afgesloten, maar door een wasrekje te plaatsen konden we heerlijk op een afgeschermd plekje zitten aan de kant van de keuken.Kitty from Oirschot,

De omgeving is prachtig , het huisje is mooi ingericht , maar ik miste wel een kleding kast, ook bevat het huisje geen dampkap, , kraaknet beddengoed was een meevaller , alsook de badkamer , netheid living kon volgens mij nog iets beter, Melding gemaakt over mieren in de keuken , dit word verder opgevolgd, , het tuintje is zeer aangenaam , en uiteraard het uitzicht rondom het huisje, , ideaal voor mensen die echt van rust en natuur houden. ,
Activities
The road next to the cottage leads directly to the most beautiful walking and cycling routes. Moreover, there are numerous lakes in the vicinity where you can enjoy a swim or a picnic. In the house you will find a folder with folders, travel guides and tourist information about the area. The nearest large town is Saulieu. Every Saturday morning you can stroll around the market there and buy delicious stitching products. The old town of Vézelay should also be part of one of your trips. The Basilica Sainte-Marie-Madeleine in Vézelay has been on UNESCO's World Heritage List since 1979 and is definitely worth a visit.
